193609 tn?1292180293 I am not any where near my goal weight, but I posted some BEFORE pictures so you can compare me before to the pictures of me at the 5K this weekend! I have lost 42 lbs and I can not BELIEVE the difference in my pictures! Just some motivation for everyone...
Avatar n tn You may be prescribed another course of Accutane, or a different oral or topical treatment, sooner than a year after Accutane failure/relapse. You must wait at least 8 weeks between courses of Accutane. Accutane results in failure or relapse when: i)The patient has not taken Accutane at a high enough dose, or not taken it for long enough. The recommended dose is 0.5 to 1mg X kg patients bodyweight per day for 16 to 24 weeks.
Avatar n tn As usual, the antibiotics and retin-a did not do anything to treat my acne problems, so I have begun a new course of Accutane. Immediately after staring the Accutane, I noticed the tiny bumps under my eyes were lessening. After a month they were completely gone. Now, my dermatologist is second guessing her diagnosis of syringoma for she does not think they would go away so quickly with the Accutane. She now thinks they were just cysts. What do you think?
Avatar n tn (1) Is it smart to start using retin a micro so soon after accutane? My dermatologist prescribed it over the phone and I have not seem him for 1.5 months. (2) Is a second course of accutane likely to do any good? I am amazed how quickly the acne returned. It didn't even work throughout the entire course. I don't obsess about acne but it does put a damper on my personal and professional life. I usually cope with it well, but occasionally it really gets me down.
Avatar f tn My acne just got worse so i was put on accutane for 2 months and it cleared my skin. By that time i was 17 years old . After two months i started getting pimples again . So for a month and a half i had antibiotics again but they were completely not responsive. My acne got worse than ever before. I did not have systic acne but it was pretty bad . I had big red stubborn pimples all over my cheeks . At 17 and a half i was put on accutane again and the course lasted for six months .
1155893 tn?1263018015 Well Ive now been on accutane for 5 months and I keep breaking out. I said in one of my earlier posts that my face was clearing up but now I broke out again and its back to being crap. Im suppose to be on accutane for 7 months (two months left to go). When I first started taking the medication my doc said it be gone by 3 months, max. But now 5 months later... its still not gone and on top of that I have these dark marks that the acne has left behind.
Avatar n tn I'm a guy, 20 years old, and took accutane back in 2008 for only 3 months. Stopped early because of thinning hair in mass amounts. Doctors and dermatologists don't want to attribute accutane as the cause to something like this because quite frankly, the accutane doesn't often do its damage in massive amounts as quickly to really show a "drastic difference" or whatever.
546892 tn?1214525401 In case a second treatment is required, a gap of eight weeks is given within first and second treatment. With accutane acne shows continues improvement even after the course of treatment has been completed, although the reason for this is not known presently. ref:http://www.hpv-genital-warts-pictures.com/accutane.html I suggest that you use standard treatments for acne -benzoyl peroxide- and hydroxyquinone for the scars.
Avatar m tn after that i had Shaking in my hand (for 3 month then it removed) and bad concentration (i did not know till now why i did not go dr may i was thinking that is not problem ) after 4 year i did a test for thyroid and the result was positive for hypothyroidism , i want to ask if there is connection between the medication (Isotretinoin and accutane) and hypothyroidism and if it reversible
Avatar f tn I don't know why you would have to stop taking it or why you couldn't after. Talk to your doctor about it and see what they say and if there's any certain route you have to take. If you're not on any, make sure you discuss birth control and such to prevent pregnancy until you're done with this medicine or you're ready for children.
Avatar n tn I have been on 6 courses (6 months twice and 5 moths the other 4 times) of accutane over a 10 year period. Before accutane i used to work out and be physically fit and would run like 5 miles a day and lift weights as well. I am 5"4 and I weighed 130 pounds. I now 1 years later have put on a lot of weight. Exercise is too painful. I had 3 MRI's done a week ago and I am waiting to see a specialist on the 5th of August. The nurse said I had moderate arthritis and degeneration!
Avatar m tn and then i read the accutane warnings again and i noticed it says you should take birth control pills a month before going on accutane and of course i didn't do that cause i didn't know i was supposed to do that... am i likely to be pregnant? i'm 19 years old. and i think we had sex without a condom on october 13 and october 16. and i'm taking Minesse pills, they are combination pills..
Avatar n tn My 15 yo daughter stopped taking accutane after severe migraines and light sensitivity at school. The migraines have not stopped since being off accutane and she now is chronically having migraines that wont go away. I am convinced that Accutane has caused this.
Avatar n tn thank you man. after ten months from taking isotretinoin which is roaccutane, I started to feel the tip of my penis sticking to my underwear. First I denied it but after two weeks I started to feel that, I really had a problem especially when I saw my urethral end is a little bit reddish. Then after two weeks also I saw blood staining on my under wear which was after a travel took ten hours. Then I saw a "fresh" female doctor in that city and told here about my story.
Avatar n tn Accutane begins to work after 8 to 12 weeks. However, after 5 weeks the medication you took will be out of your system. Eloise.
Avatar m tn I can say, nothing has helped the way accutane has. I got a hair cut and made the mistake of getting my hair texturized. My cousin made a comment about my hair so, now I am concerned about it thinning. Upon further inspection, it feels thinner near the crown but, she did texturize my hair. Also, I was laying on it in a certain spot. I took a video with my phone for further inspection finding nothing but I will keep a close eye on it. Is rogain out of the question while on accutane?
Avatar m tn This means i did not complete the 6 month treatment. Right now i have been off accutane for 2 months and a half.Right now i have occasional pimples but nothing great like before. My face is getting back to its normal greasy self.I have many embarrassing scars on my face, My question is, is it okay to have laser treatment on my face or microdembrasion or do i suffer the possiblilty of having my acne scars worse than they are now?

Avatar m tn For the melasma, treatment options include treatment with vitamin C and hydrocortisone, peel with carbon dioxide snow and alexandrite and ND-Yag Q-Switched laser treatment preceded by a hydroquinone-based application. But get it done after the course of Accutane. Please discuss these options with your dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn Anyone here get their Crohn's after taking Accutane for acne ? Apparently an association has been found and some lawsuits are being successful. I got my first symptoms about two months after finishing the drug cycle. Just curious if anyone else experienced this with Accutane ?
Avatar n tn Now every pimple or mark i get, i get a scar. Its white and slighly raised. My question is, is it possible that accutane could affect your healing and make you prone to scarring permanently? I've heard durning the treatment and a couple years after your skin is thin and sensitive but not permanently. I would appreciate an answer as I am really depressed over this.
Avatar m tn 3 weeks ago I had my 1st eye infection of my entire life in my right eye so I went to an opthamalogist and he told me to stop taking the accutane for a week (which is what he says caused the infection) and put me on doxyclince hyclate 100mg twice a day and eurithromyocin gel to put on my eyelid that knocked the infection out.
Avatar n tn i had depression before taking the accutane, and during treatment it only got worse. i also developed severe anxiety. i cant sleep at night. i have terrifying thoughts about absolutely nothing. i also have panick attacks now. they strike at any time. when i have one i feel like im dying, i feel squirmish, and i feel terrified. my pyschiatrist had originally had me on lexapro but it stopped working. she started me on luvox, but that wasnt helping the anxiey or panick at all.
Avatar n tn You must wait 6 months after finishing Accutane treatment before having such procedures done because of the increased risk of scarring already fragilised skin. Oral retinoids can cause facial redness and it has only been 3 months since you finished Accutane. Use a good skincare regime for facial redness such as Clinique's Redness Solutions or Rosaliac by La Roche-Posay. In another 3 months you will be able to have laser therapy if the problem persists.
Avatar f tn Is anyone aware of a linkage between isotretonoin (Accutane), used for treating cystic acne, and Sjogren's, which is linked to the epithelial cells? At 21, when Accutane first appeared, doses were higher than current (I remember my skin bleeding when scratching lightly with a fingernail). I am now 51, and have had Reynaud's for a number of years, and was just diagnosed with Sjogren's. Just curious if anyone has seen this?
