Avatar m tn Hi, I suffer from severe social anxiety and public speaking, my doctor in Manila prescribed me Abilify and Sertraline. Did anyone use these medicine for social/public anxiety and does it help?
5148952 tn?1364325366 I am scared to move too fast but if anyone can tell me some ways to slowly start working on my social anxiety, I would apprecate it. I am taking Abilify but I have read that it doesn't help with anxiety. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
1261539 tn?1269828421 he gave me a perscription for Paxil and i was done-5mins tops! and it worked for the social anxiety, for a while but my doc kept having to up the dose and it still kept loosing it's effectiveness. at that same time i had a problem with my medical coverage and couldn't afford to keep taking it. i didnt have any warning so i couldnt try to wean off it. it was ten days of cold sweats, nausea, the shakes, i felt like the ground was moving -as if i were on a boat.
Avatar f tn I understand that, try a med called GABAPENTIN it did wonders for my anxiety. You have to take 1200mg approx for it to work but just ask for it and don't tell the doc you will take that much at once. They used to give it in 6000mg doses for trials so its safe. I take 800mg 4 times per day and it did wonders for social anxiety. I take klonopin also sometimes. Trust me it works. It takes 2 hours to fully take effect (gabapentin) but it will work.
4810971 tn?1359480360 My mother has depression, OCD, and social anxiety disorder, and lately it is getting worse. I am 15, and I have Bipolar disorder and OCD, so I get depressed a lot, too, but nothing like this. At night, she will sit on the couch with her head in her hands, and will stare at nothing for hours, no matter how much we try and talk to her, and we eventually give up. This happens every night, no matter what.
1515545 tn?1291399364 I finally found a psychiatrist who actually listened to me unconditionally and he diagnosed me with social anxiety disorder and he prescribed Abilify in addition to my Wellbutrin but he decreased the dosage from 200mg to 150 mg and also I take klonapin when it's necessary and it's quick relief but I cannot drive after consuming it because it makes me sleepy I sure abilify will work quickly.
Avatar f tn Also, if adding klonopin to this mix would help for the social anxiety but not counteract the other medications.
4100850 tn?1351216149 agoraphobia social anxiety not really improving and still hate when people watch me do everyday things and i dont leave the house much also fear of all the people and cars.
Avatar f tn Some say it does.

I take300mg of effexor XR.We both feel like the meds we r taking r helpong to keep us out of a severely depresse state but know we can feel better.
1772374 tn?1326249837 Things that have helped a lot in the past but only temporarily are Lexapro (SSRI) and Vyvance (Dopamine Inhibitor) My main anxiety is social phobia which i hope not to last since i'm still young. Lexapro is known for helping people with this but it stopped working for me after i adjusted. The root of the generalized anxiety and panic come from emotional trauma at age 12.
Avatar n tn The use of opiates / opioids for anxiety and depression has been suggested by many doctors and psychiatrists for decades. As a matter of fact, my mother's psychiatrist offered her Lortab(hydrocodone/APAP) for her anxiety, but she didn't want them because they upset her stomach. Ask your doctor and / or psychiatrist if they can subscribe some kind of opiate. It can't hurt to ask because SOME psychiatrists have already begun subscribing narcotic pain meds for anxiety.
1244499 tn?1397549123 I guess I'll start by listing my mental health problems. I have "major depressive disorder", social anxiety, GAD, and panic disorder, but that can't possibly be all. No.... I have been deemed treatment resistant. I have taken.... well, let me put it this way: my psychiatrist recommended electroshock therapy. SSRI's don't work. SNRI's don't work. I don't know what Wellbutrin is, but that's not working with Lexapro, which is the combo I'm currently on.
Avatar f tn That would give you something constant for anxiety + a rescue med. Anyway, ILADVOCATE is right, you need your psychiatrist to explain things to you. If they'll email, that might be a good way to get started so that you can spend the time in person asking for clarification if you need it. You sound really depressed, but you also have very good reason to be depressed due to life events.
Avatar f tn Does Lamictal help with anxiety AND depression? I'm just not sure how anxiety and depression is a mood disorder. I thought you had to be manic to have a mood disorder. I really appreciate everyone's help!
Avatar f tn Abilify got rid of my anxiety for sure. But I was blowing life blowfish fast. And I turned so quiet. Did Abilify make you gain weight?
Avatar m tn This is the place to come if you have questions or concerns about anxiety/panic, related medications and their side effects and recovery. Some of our members have been living with anxiety and related disorders for years, while others are new to the waiting rooms of psychiatrists/therapists and the rainbow of medications available to treat our various conditions. Regardless of what brings you here, welcome!
Avatar f tn My daughter is now 13, she is on clonopin and prozac, the dr just tried to put her on abilify but she wont take it, she says the meds make her anxiety symptoms worse, she is stopping all meds. She has severe seperation anxiety and i, her mom, am the one she is attached too. She has not been in school for 12 weeks, on and off she will attempt to go and then refuse. I can not leave the house without her. She will burst into major tantrums physically trying to restrain me from leaving.
Avatar n tn Although zoloft is one of the SSRI group, it may not be the best medication for your son. Our own child tried three different meds for social anxiety before finding one that worked well. Have you tried Cognitive Behavioural Therapy? This therapy can work wonders for an anxiety-ridden person if he/she is ready to face one's fears. As for the "refusals", "tantrums", "food issues", frustrations, etc., I know of these only too well.
Avatar f tn Look, from what I gather from my readings and participation in many forums across the world, you wouldn't need to test more than either lamictal, seroquel or abilify. These 3 are the best for your case. The 1st AC for depression. The 2nd is antimanic and a moderate MS. The 3rd is AP atypical like the 2nd but a 2nd generation stabilizing the dopamine instead of supressing it.
Avatar m tn ) Before I had my first one last May, I had heard of people having anxiety problems (my ex-girlfriends mom took meds for them) but just scoffed at people actually having to take medications to control their thoughts. What pish-posh I thought to myself. Well, after 1 year of having these #$%^$@ panic attacks, it's not pish-posh anymore.
Avatar m tn I have Bad ADHD and Bi-Polar and had unnacceptable side effects from Strattera, Paxil, Trileptal, Lamictal, Abilify, Lexapro, and Focalin. I have a low tolerance for drugs, but seem to be able to quit cold turkey with no issues from addicted drugs. Past suicidal ideation is an issue. Everytime I take dextramathoraphine for a cough, I seem to be a little happier, can focus on work better, and don't spill my guts to all my co-workers.
Avatar m tn 5 years ago, I was put on meds, for all the crap they told me I was diagnosed with, ( ADHD, Social Phobia ( Anxiety) OCD, and PTSD.) I've been on 60 mg of Celexa since then, and they have increased my Ativan, which you're only supposed to be on for up to 3 weeks. I've been on for 3 years. and I'm on 2 mg, 4 times a day. Nothing is working. I feel like a failure, I dont know if this is some sick cycle, meds, to keep us sick.
Avatar n tn I believe he might have Asperger's as well or maybe Schizoaffective disorder. I am looking for a Doctor in the Dallas area who can make a proper diagnosis. When he was in elementary school they said he had ADD and at the time a Dr. put him on ritalin...it was a terrible experience and we soon took him off of the meds... In Jr. high we had to put him in a school that had a much smaller teacher/student ratio to help keep him in school.
Avatar f tn I have been on effexor, wellbutrin, lexapro, abilify and so on for years with no complete relief of my depression. The only thing that temporarily helps my depression and social anxiety is b vitamin injections (accidently realized this seeing a weight loss dr.) , adderrall, and smoking a cigarette. Weird I dont get addicted but I smoke to get a break from my darkness and hopelessness. My husband smokes regularly and he doesnt get the feeling I get.
Avatar m tn I have seen my doctor and am currently on Abilify (it helped before with my anxiety) and Ambien CR, which works wonders in making me forget about my heartbeat and breathing at night. But I don't want to be taken Ambien too long. And I don't know what to do when I feel this "too much air in lungs" feeling during the day... anyone know how to get me back to sleep naturally? Or if there is any medication that helps with over-breathing (what I think it is) during the daytime hours?
Avatar f tn I think some of these drugs are sooo dangerous....I had an allergic dystonic reaction to a combination of buspar for anxiety and compazine for nausea....and it was one of the scariest things that has ever happened to me. It made me realize just how much these things screw with your mind chemistry. even for the people who need them...they're soo dangerous. I understand taking them because you need them, but I always cringe just because they're so toxic.
Avatar n tn If he truly displays these conditions, he may well require pharmacological treatment, so it is not a good idea to take him off. However, having said that, Vyvanse is an unusual choice for such a young child, and Abilify is an unusual choice to treat generalized anxiety. I would suggest that you obtain a second opinion.
86075 tn?1238118691 some of these meds I've tried have actually made the anxiety and depression a lot worse for me...so that's why it's such a scary undertaking for me...but I'm doing it...you live your life right? I'm very hopeful that I will find the right med(s)... Thanks so much Bill, MO, The Florida Man, New York Woman, Orleans, The Guy Who Gets Things Done, Salin' Man, Sweet Bug Woman, The Woman Who Hears Epiphanies..Deb, Scratchy (what's that wink for?, why I oughta) Trish, everyone...
Avatar f tn There has always been a place for the 'benzo's' as well, for the panic and 'anxiety surges' but I keep that to a minimum. You may find Paxil works for you, it's quite popular. Let your doc guide you toward the best solution for you. hope this helps! Good luck in whatever you deciide.
