Abilify and cost

Common Questions and Answers about Abilify and cost

574118 tn?1305138884 //www.askdrjones.com/2005/02/14/ranking-the-mood-stabilizers/ . To tell you the truth I became happy because I know tegretol needs blood tests, etc…while abilify has a few side effects except some anxiety. I only became suspicious about its potency as a mood stabilizer. Otherwise why do pdocs recommend always one of the triads (lithium, depakote, tegretol) or lamictal lately. Never did I hear an AP to be working as a MS although in www.bipolar.net they even mention seroquel.
Avatar f tn Only bummer about Abilify is the cost. it can be very expensive. It works for a lot of people and may work for you also. Give the Abilify a good 6 weeks to work at full effect. Keep in touch and if you need me you can always PM me.
1742269 tn?1315385233 Anyways, i am taking 10 mg of Lexapro, and 450 of Lamectal, and he said that he felt that i should try Abilify. He made a small under his breathe note that my insurance may not cover it. i didnt understand what he meant, and he said it was because of the cost, so i am not sure i am really going to take it. tomarrow i am going to go back to his office and ask for a sample before i actually go to the pharmacy and fork out money i dont really have.
Avatar f tn due to (lack of) insurance issues, I have to wait until June to go back on it. Lamictal and Abilify are absolutely the perfect combo for me. The Abilify took my edge off, and I felt 'normal' for the first time ever, not just 'stable'. There is a HUGE difference. Everyone reacts so differently to each med, though, there's no telling what will happen. I've had horrid experiences with Depakote (50lb weight gain in 2 months) and Topamax (hands and feet went COMPLETELY numb - terrifying!).
Avatar m tn I am on 7.5 mg of abilify (morning), and 2.5mg zyprexa (night), which I've been on for a couple of weeks I'm finding the mix better than just the 7.5mg of olanzapine I have been taking previously for 6 years due to the fact I can actually get up in the morning now! I recommend these doses. I would like to know side affects of abilify..ie sex drive, sense of humour, weight loss? And can I use paracetomels with this mix? And green tea slimming pills?
Avatar f tn My insurance has a $200.00 co-pay for Abilify and I am 68 years old and on medicare. I just cannot afford this but it worked so well for me in the past. At this time my Dr gave me some samples but they are almost gone. After 6 days of taking Abilfy everything kicked in and I was able to function again.
Avatar m tn Im on abilify and a small dosage at that (5mg), I work two jobs and my full time job is where I get my health insurance. Now I am gonna upgrade my insurance from basic too the best one possible I can get but what would you guys recommend I do cause my abilify is $ 400 a month.
Avatar n tn I have been on abilify for 18 months and it is a wonder drug for me, for without I wouldn't be able to cope. I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia but my quality of life is excellent as I respond to the medication well. It takes roughly 6 weeks to truely kick in properly and I don't have any side affects. I also don't have any problems in my sex life either unlike some other medications which could pose a problem in this area.
Avatar f tn I happen to take Abilify and pay a hefty price. I am on medicare and pay $75 at first; then 1/2 the cost, around $350 in the doughnut hole, and $35 approx. in the catastrophic level. Last year my meds cost $19,000 - I paid about $5,000 of that and the rest was covered by medicare insurance Part D.
Avatar f tn Now I get alternating bouts of the two weekly, for no reason whatsoever. I've read that Abilify use AND withdrawal can cause anxiety, tachy- and bradycardia, excessive crying, etc. But I've yet to read anything suggesting that suddenly withdrawal could cause these symptoms permanently, and now--21 months after stopping Abilify--I'm still getting these things, with tests for anemia and hypothyroidism and whatnot all coming back normal. I know that was long, I'm sorry...
612551 tn?1450025775 I suppose that insurance also had a deductible, and if not a premium that reflect that cost. These things boggle my mind. I understand and support private sector selling at a price that will recover their investment cost, but $18 a pill for a medication that is supposed to calm one down seems "over the top".
7540527 tn?1401191358 Not to mention some other unpleasant side effects and the cost. I wanted to try Symbyax but my doc said there is no basis to support an antidepressant successfully treating bipolar depression. Symbyax is not a straight up antidepressant based on what I have read. I feel very frustrated being in guinea pig mode again. Latuda was my miracle drug. I started it in 2014 and it was the first time in 10 years that I actually felt alive.
Avatar m tn Each pharmaceutical company establishes its own rules and guidelines with qualifications based on annual income and several other factors. This is an extremely time consuming process that can cause a great deal of confusion and frustration. Due to the difficulty of completing and maintaining the required paperwork, forms and the never ending red tape only about 3% of those who apply on their own ever receive medication.
Avatar m tn Currently more than 80 pharmaceutical manufactures provide to the uninsured and under insured more than 1,500 brand name prescription medications at no cost. Each pharmaceutical company establishes its own rules and guidelines with qualifications based on annual income and several other factors. This is an extremely time consuming process that can cause a great deal of confusion and frustration.
Avatar f tn oh before i forget i was a light sleeper before this and now i sleep so soundly i don't hear alarms and it has cost me several jobs i blame the risperdol as it changed during the time i was on this
Avatar n tn I am currently taking 100-200 mg Provigil, 300 mg Wellbutrin, 150 mg Seroquel and 150 mg Lamictal. Although the bulimia is under control- I am angry and moody. This is harming my relationship with my husband and family.
Avatar m tn Having that knowledge early would have saved so much time and bad experiences with everything from Seroquel, Depakote, Abilify, Seraphis, and a near OD on Lithium (thanks to another doctor who wasn't monitoring dosages via standard blood tests). So he's been on Geodon for nearly 18mo along with Lamictal, Inderal, and Neurontin; We saw a great improvement and stability for the first 14 months with the Geodon/Lamictal combination.
Avatar n tn //www.pparx.org and fill out the online intake form. The service is free (I tried a test case). You may also visit the individual web sites of participiating manufacturers. That's the drugs, but by all means seek therapy if at all possible. If finances are an issue, check with your local health department. Meds may deliver some relief, but therapy hold out the possibility of a cure. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Great advice and information above. If I say anything below that is in conflict, disregard my input, please. My wife has been treated for depression and anxiety (and for cancer, now on a second round of chemo) and has gone through a number of meds. One called "Ability" which is "out-of-sight" in cost (we have insurance and that prescription took care of our annual deductible with one 90 day order).
Avatar m tn The biggest problem from what I see is it could be neuro but you are also diagnosed with a mental illness and not medicated which is likely why the doctors won't take a request for a PET scan seriously (not to mention the massive cost factors) Sexual obession can be a Bipolar or OCD symptom BTW and its not unusual.
497950 tn?1255867527 ) Has anyone tried any medicines that didn't cause weight gain and didn't cost a fortune. I am on Abilify right now but I am very quickly going to have to change because my insurance isn't that great and it cost me $100. I am on Neurontin and Celexa right now which is great but I can still feel myself going up and down all the time. Or even if I have to go back on Zyprexa has anyone NOT gained weight on it? People told me I would gain weigh on Celexa and I haven't.
Avatar f tn I've tried the savings cards, etc but they don't bring it down enough) worked like a CHARM, loved it but now I'm currently raking Risperidone 1mg, started it Sunday, and don't feel a difference yet like I used too with my Abilify. I'm superrr tired on the Risperidone. Any ways to cope with the absolutely terrible mood swings I'm having waiting for this stuff to kick in? Its getting unbearable! Helppp. Thank you!
3248163 tn?1354851240 I take Abilify and it cost about $650 a month. My insurance company would like me to try something else but since it is still in their formulary they have to cover it.
Avatar m tn My girlfriend is extremely supportive, and understands everything I go through. I have tried Cymbalta, Abilify, Elavil, Clonazepam, Ativan, Valium, Desipramine, and now Zoloft. I felt no affect from Zoloft 50mg so I was upped to 100mg. At 100mg my ROCD (relationship Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) kicked in at full force. I feel like my girlfriend is a stranger, and I can feel love. Terrible timing, since I need her more than ever.
Avatar n tn I was prescribed Topamax along with an appetite suppressant (Adipex) for weight loss a bit over a year ago and stopped taking them after two and a half months. I did not lose all of the weight I had wanted to, but most of it. I had gained 55 pounds while on Paxil over the course of two and a half years. By taking a combination of the two medicines, I lost 22 pounds the first month, 10 pounds the second month, and 8 pounds the first half of the third month.
Avatar m tn I would also make sure your prescription insurance covers Abilify, as it is still under patent and there is no generic available at this time. For me, without insurance, a thirty day supply would cost about 260 dollars. So I would look into that as well, and, if it isn't covered, then perhaps you could get samples from your doctor.
Avatar n tn Hi, I have been on Effexor XR for 3 years and I have gained about 40-50pounds, most when my dose was increased to 225, now I am on 75mg b/c I'm getting ready to wean off the medicine in a couple of weeks, and I haven't lost anything yet. My eating habits have not changed and I exercise. I have always been underweight and I could eat whatever I wanted...I'm only 26 years old...I know my metabolism has changed some, but not enough to pack on 40 pounds.
Avatar m tn //www.pparx.org/ Take Good Care and Hope you get help with the cost of the medication...
Avatar f tn I was given the choice between Geodon and abilify, and went with Geodon based mostly on cost. Good luck with your med change. I wish you the best!
