abilify

569026 tn?1216982293 and could be a combination of BiPolar 2, Adult ADD and even...Borderline Personality Disorder (god I hate that name). Anyhow, one of the main symptoms we all agreed upon was the mood swings. I tend toward being on the hypo side of the scale and dont get depressed terribly often, but when I do it is very painful and scary. Will Abilify help with the irritable mood swings? I have 6 kids and some days (even just some hours in a day) I get so upset over something so small and seem to snap...
1564087 tn?1308947518 heya, i've been diagnose with bipolar 1 and suffer from hallucinations at times. doctors put me on sequel xr.. but wasn't happy with it. now they have me on abilify and effexor but i'm worried about side effects... guess i'm just wondering what peoples experiences have been with the medication?
Avatar n tn When I looked up weight gain and bipolar medications, Abilify was at the bottom of the list for weight gain, Geodon people gained the least then Abilify. I'm on 2mg. of Abilify and in the begining you tend to feel sleepy, that's why they start you on it at bedtime. I would be surprised if Abilify caused a racing heart but you definately have to tell your doc about that. I was also on Wellbutrin and had to come off because it caused to much anxiety.
569043 tn?1216845586 Hi, I have been diagnosed with Manic Bipolar Disorder and I am currently taking Abilify. I was simply wondering if this prescription can possibly affect the patterns of a menstrual cycle??
Avatar n tn Talk to your doctor or psychiatrist about it. My guess is no. Trileptal is an anti-convulsant, and Abilify is specifically for mental illnesses. They would work differently due to their drug classes and targeted illnesses. If Abilify is working for you, then you probably shouldn't switch unless it's a price issue that's really making things hard for you.
Avatar f tn no its not safe like the TV says) This is the problem - doctors see a nail and use a hammer - ADHD symptoms mask bipolar in many cases and as ADHD is the most commonly diagnosed thing around besides depression thats what they treat - after all theres good old Ritalin on the script pad and the clock and the wall and Oprah and everywhere else - course bipolar should be very careful of ANY stimulant drugs but hey the family doctor just wants the visit and the script.
1356915 tn?1277344103 It (Abilify) was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for schizophrenia on November 15, 2002, for acute manic and mixed episodes associated with bipolar disorder on October 1, 2004, and as an adjunct for major depressive disorder on November 20, 2007.
Avatar n tn I started lamectal about 2 months ago and take abilify and trazadone as well. I have lost my hair significantly in the past 2 months. I take Lamectal twise a day 150 mg. Abilify 15 mg & 50 mg of trazadone. I also take 1mg of klonipin as needed. Could any of these be causing it - a combination? Any suggestions? Depression will never go away if I am bald. Please help. I would like to discontinue the one that is causing this.
899491 tn?1243773627 I have not heard of antipsychotics being addictive but I do know Abilify is activating and can disrupt sleep. As well although its FDA approved for bipolar its primary use is as an antipsychotic so it may not be as effective as a standard mood stabilizer.
5877513 tn?1375915002 I've found that there are a lot of people on the crazymeds forums with BP II. A great website about BP II and other variants is the psycheducation.org site. It's written by a psychiatrist who has seen a lot of people with different flavors of bipolar and done a lot of research, and he's really good at explaining things.
1499921 tn?1308446605 My brother still takes it to this day. Abilify made it hard for me to control my weight and motivation. I was thought to have bipolar disorder however since I have been away from my adoptive mom I have had no symptoms of mental illness. I think the first couple of weeks you are on it you are great. However, after that first month you’re less in a state of control. At that point I seem to see that true benefit of the drug is in effect. Abilify is less helpful after the first month.
Avatar f tn Once I reached the therapeutic dose of Lamictal, I stopped Abilify and immediately experienced rapid fluctuations between depression and mania and my therapist told me to go back on Abilify at a reduced 2.5 mg. In addition, since beginning Lamictal + Abilify I have consistently gained 40 pounds.... 10 of which were gained within the 2 weeks I restarted Abilify at 2.5 mg. As someone who has a history of body dysmorphia and eating disorders, I NEED a different treatment.
Avatar f tn Any one on Klonopin and abilify for depression and anxiety...Does any one take thesse natural products witht them.
Avatar n tn Abilify is the least likely out of the current generation of anti-psychotics to cause weight gain and diabetes but it still can occur.
Avatar f tn I have just started taking Aripiprazole(Abilify) and have found it to have some beneficial effects on my mood. However I am also finding myself to be extremely drowsy. I have heard that this side effect wears off with time. Has anyone else experienced this? It's the first antipsychotic I've taken that's had any effect so I don't want to stop it but the fact I can literally go to sleep while standing up is making my life difficult.
Avatar f tn The hallucinations were auditory and visual as well. The come and go, but on the abilify they are gone. My GP just SUGGESTED it was aggitated depression...which would explain the hallucinations and dillusions. I am in the U.K now and they are reviewing my charts. In American they dianosed me with schizophrenia, and late with bipolar, but they found out it was wrong. They finally agreed that I had schizoid affective disorder. Anyway, there is no clear route yet and all of them seem wrong to me.
Avatar f tn I am also on 200mg of lamotrigine and 50mg of Trazodone. I took my first full dose of Abilify on Friday the 6th and today is the 11th The Abilify is working about 70%. I have been crying more, I wrote a big long blog about how life is useless because I can't work full time and be a parent and all those other 'normal' things the drug companies promise you that you can do if you just take their drug. I am feeling not depressed but more morose, and just generally in a slump.
Avatar f tn Hi all, I've just found out I am pregnant and I have been taking Abilify (Aripirazole) and Lamictal (Lamotrigine) for the last year, against bipolar disorder, my doctor recommended to reduce it slowly and then stop it. He said that I have taken it so far wouldn't harm the baby. I am still very worried and wondered if anybody has any experience with this. Thank you!
Avatar f tn re dealing with a competent psychiatrist, I would take his suggestion and try Abilify to control your symptoms and especially to prevent manic episodes. If you're that concerned, a second opinion is definitely an option. Ultimately, however, the decision is yours. Just remember that your well being is the issue here and that in order to have the best quality of life possible it is oftentimes better to put ourselves into the hands of others.
2010625 tn?1329372056 Different people has different side effects. I take Abilify (its not Ambilify) and it hasn't caused any weight gain and helps with depression. Abilify has caused me to have akathisia (restless movements of legs/feet). I take propranolol for it and found that it also is used for anxiety without being a benzo. It is a beta blocker which is primarily used to lower blood pressure.
13126824 tn?1428652469 I take Zoloft and Abilify for bipolar disorder. My sugar levels were heightened due to Abilify, but I am now taking Metfforman to level out my sugar level because Abilify has the ability to heighten sugar levels. I am not a diabetic. Does cholesterol have anything to do with this cramping?
Avatar f tn I would ask the doc if he could come off the Risperdal and go on a mood stabelizer rather than add it to the mix. I take Abilify and it covers everything, bipolar issues, anxiety, panic attacks, it's all gone away now and I feel so much better. I also take adderral because they think I have a bit of ADD as well. Having said all that, it's on;y my OPINION, I'm not a doctor, just a patient. But I am with you, less medication is better.
Avatar f tn Any medication can sometimes take a week or two or longer to take full effect while some will take effect instantaneously. It all depends on the person of course. When I took Geodon I sometimes would "drool and stumble" figuratively for the former (felt really dumb some days) and literally for the latter (dragged my feet and sometimes felt drunk).
712802 tn?1274645485 What you experience may be quite different from what everyone has posted. You might take Abilify and find that you have no side effects and it helps you and you will continue to take it. You might find that you get side effects that you can't tolerate and then you will quit it. The only way to find out is by trying it.
