Hi Motownguy, your wife purchased a very watered-down version of tylenol with codeine which IS legally sold without a script in Canada, but why? A standard Tylenol#3 has 30 mg of codeine and NO caffeine. the caffeine is added as an adjunct to headache pain and to prevent abuse by narcotic addicts.

I felt minor withdrawl when switching to the codeine but not much at all. Tylenol 3 are opiates too. I think Doctors prescripe vicodin more often because tylenol 3 can make you more nauseated than vicodin. That's what I've heard anyway.

Have you been addicted to Tylenol 3 with Codeine? Can you please help me out with my addiction such as sharing your tips, stories and so on.I just joined this site and don't know where to begin.I get T3's prescribed 3 per day, 20 every 7 days (wed-wed) but I also get them on the side from someone I lie to.I want to stop, I dont even know how long its been.It just grew out of control and i had enough but cant beat the withdrawl and i am scared cuz I also dont want help from Doctors.

I actually use stuff called Mersyndol. It doesn't have the caffeine. To the best of my knowledge this stuff is identical in composition to Vicodin at least with respect to the acetaminophen and codeine - I'm reading from the bottle as I write this - 8 mg Codeine 325 mg acetaminophen (mistakenly recorded as 125 in my original post). Thanks for you reply. I am going to try and post every day with respect to tapering off. Might force me to be more honest than I am with myself.

Tylenol with codeine is called Tylenol#3 but like I said they both are the same thing same exact ingredients in them

Hi everyone, I am wondering if anyone has ever really had liver problems from taking vicodin with codeine? I know all the warnings that more than a certain amount of tylenol can hurt your liver. But is there any info out there about when such effects would take place, after how many years of addiction or how many mgs a day, That kind of thing?

Codeine is an opiate so technically it will keep you from going into withdrawal because you're body is still getting some form of opiate.

I doubt the accidents are from just Tylenol, unless they are with codeine. Tylenol PM could increase the drowsiness. Either way, alcohol and Tylenol are horribly hard on the liver.

I stick to my Tylenol #3 with Codeine. I use the Teva brand the rest of the pharmaceutical brands make me nauseous. But Oxycodone w/apap 5/325 is good also again only the Mallinckrodt brand. Don't take just any brand do your research.

So i posted couple days ago bout my severe migrains i finally went to my first prenatal appt foundout i was 10 weeks not 12. He presc me tylenol 3 which has codeine in it he said its safe but im kinda scared to take it :( will somebody let me know if its safe??

I’m in the UK and a number of times when reading posts have wondered what certain drugs are in the US as they are all called different things in the UK. What exactly is Vicodin, Percocet etc? We have codeine phosphate here which contain 30mg of codeine each. When I see people talk about 5’s and 10’s etc, are they talking about pills with 5mg or 10mg of codeine in or is it completely different?

Im 5 months prego with horrible headaches. My Dr prescribed me tylenol codeine saying it was safe to take. But when I got it filled the pharmacist made me feel like it was not safe to take.... he said it crosses the placenta and i shouldnt take it too often.... Most likely it would make you sick to your stomach (the tylenol or acetominophen does this). 6 grams of tylenol at once can be fatally toxic to the liver and each pill has either 500mg or 325mg. The FDA claims you should not exceed 4grams in a 24 hour period. Otherwise, you are killing your liver and kidneys with each pill.

are you talking about tylenol with codeine? in the US they are called tylenol 3, or even 4. do they call them tylenol 1 in Canada? 30 pills per day? sounds like a ton. i take 3 or 4 of them every other day usually, for knee pain, im getting surgery on 2/29. am i at risk for getting hooked with that amount?

Not really any difference. Vicoprofen has Ibuprofen with the Hydrocodone. Vicodin has Tylenol. Strength would be the same if they both were the same dose.

I'm 39 weeks and was prescribed Tylenol 3 (with codeine) for my horrific toothache caused by wisdom teeth and abcessed tooth i just called my ob and he was able to call the prescription in it helped but def not strong as vicodin though but makes you sleepy

Hey Spider, I have experience with Codeine withdrawal back in 1992 I was taking Tylenol 4's for about a year, about 10 a day, I was able to stop Cold Turkey with not to much discomfort =0) it took me about 2 weeks I started to titrate (wean) off every 3 days I would take 2 less pills and after 2 - 3 weeks I was Codeine free and functioning well. A year later I relapsed and had a horrible Vicodin Dependency but that's another story for another time. I'm 14 yrs clean now.

The active ingredient in Vicoden is the opiate hydrocodone, and it is mixed with tylenol. Usually they will be written in the script with 2 numbers, the first being the strength of teh hydrocodone and the second number the strength of the tylenol. So vicoden 5/325 would be 5 mgs of hydrocodone and 325 mgs of tylenol. You should be able to find hydrocodone in India. The alternative would be Percocet which is oxycodone instead of hydrocodone.

Hope someone can help me. Two & 1/2 weeks ago had tooth abcess. Dentist gave Vicodin 5/500. A few days later he did root canal & said root of tooth was cracked & would have to pull it. Gave amoxcillin and more Vicodin so inflamation would go down & he could pull tooth. At first I was taking 6-8 Vicodin/day for about a week. Then got down to 4-6/day for several days. Yesterday, very little pain & only took 1 Vicodin. Today, 1/2 Vicodin.
