vicodin

my husband was addicted to Vicodin,Percoset ,drinking, etc. he schemed and scammed to get the pills. he often stolled scripts from drs offices and wrote his own medication. well, he finally got caught, went jail and was sentenced for 3 yrs upstate. i tried ton convince the ada to put him into treatment because he was an addict but the courts dont really care. he went upstate to Elmira correctional facility but he was still addicted.
I was prescribed with vicodin for the pain and birth control to try and level out my hormones. My question is should I just go ahead and push for the surgery or should i wait it out and see if it goes away on it's own. My fear is that if I wait too long it will rupture or twist and cause me more severe pain (like before) or also grow in size and risk losing my right ovary all together. My OBGYN doesn't seem worried at all and i am freaking out about it. Someone please help me!
I have been taking vicodin for 5 years now and it started out as a result of a injury and now it has become a full addiction. I am taking about 10 to 12 a day. I take two during the day at work and then when I get home is when I take the rest. I function normally to a certain extent. I work 45 to 50 hours a week in a very stressfull job and do my job very well. I feel like I have changed so much since the addiction began.
I am currently addicted to Vicodin ES. I am taking (when I have it) anywhere from 10-15 a day. I have been addicted for about 18 months, hardcore for the last 6 months or so. I have to take at least 5 at a time to feel normal. The other day when I ran out, of course I was going thru horrible wd's. Sweating (palms and soles of feet mostly), agitation, thoughts, etc and etc.
If you weren't told, the literature says you should avoid <span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>Grapefruit</span> and <span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>Grapefruit</span> products. That's a given with most all narcotics. If Effects the action of the some medications and narcotics are generally one of them. But again check with your pharmacist. In addition to discussing this with your pharmacist you should also contact your prescribing physician...I think that would be your PMP. He may have additional suggestions also.
Joy, didn't you just post about clomid? True OHSS is actually rare and typically require hospital care, but think your ovaries always get "hyperstimulated" when you take Follistim. and, yes, I took one round of Follistim and within a few days, I exploded with about 30 follicles on each side. My ovaries looked like two bunches of grapes! I was in so much pain after I ovulated, and then I bloated up like a whale.
) They managed to remove the whole <span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>Grapefruit</span>-sized mass intact (complex dermoid and other solid cystic masses) and my doctor gave me a large color photo as a souvenir. 4 inches by 3.5 inches! It took until yesterday to get the biopsy results, but thankfully the cysts turned out to be benign. My recovery's going relatively well - the pain meds have me quite constipated but I'm going off of them soon (on Vicodin now, was on Percoset.
chocolate, benedryl, and <span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>Grapefruit</span> Juice. I can't drink <span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>Grapefruit</span> Juice, but the chocolate and benedryl were very helpful. Chocolate helps you produce endorphines, the benedryl helps to reduce some of the cold sweats and also helps you sleep. After taking Ambien for nearly 3 years, being able to sleep without having to take it was my first first glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel. Oh yeah. I'm not sure what the Juice was to supposed to do, but it was supposed to help.
I'm getting an abdominal hysterectomy which is a little longer to recup. I am getting my uterus and ovaries both taken out. The doctor said that I have <span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>Grapefruit</span> size complex cysts on both ovaries. I guess the only good thing is that I won't have a monthly period. Now, I will graduate to hot flashes and night sweats--hope I get good pills so that they won't be too frequent.
You name it, I had it. My left ovary was enlarged to size of <span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>Grapefruit</span>, wrapped around my ureter and the artery nearby, then that was all plastered to my left pelvic side wall. I opted for total hys due to endo, etc. I have 1 happy, healthy boy - he's almost 10! Anyway, the Dr. told me the day after surgery that he had to "chisel" out all the tissue he could but I would have to have surgery again due to tissue growth - this time it would have to be with a GYN Oncologist.
Ok, to start of, here's my history: Was hooked on Vicodin, elevated myself to Methadone (not prescribed), and after 6 years, decided to admit myself into an outpatient Suboxone program, attending group meetings 4 days a week, under 24mg of SubX per day. After 2yrs, I stopped going to the program, stopped Suboxone and Valium, cold turkey, went through the excruciating withdrawl symptoms, and was clean for 2yrs.
I have had two ultrasounds on my abdomen, I have had two ultrasounds through the vaginal area, I have had three CT scans, one of which showed an ovarian cyst the size of a <span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>Grapefruit</span>, that magically disappeared when I went in for the surgery. I have also had an MRI, a Hideascan, an ultrasound of my gallbladder, an upper GI test that was terribly painful, I had to swallow barium and some other fizzy powdered drink and walk around for two hours doubled over in pain.
I had been having pelvic pain for months and just kept thinking it would go away. Found out i had a <span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>Grapefruit</span> sized Brenner Tumor, a Mucinous Tumor, and a Fibroma. My Dr. had said what may have happened that night was that something twisted, but when the pain subsided it was because somehow it had untwisted. I hope you got to the ER alright, better yet i hope you were as lucky as i and your pain subsided also. Will be thinking of you!!!!!!!!
Yep, been there, done that, got the t-shirt. :-) Your story is pretty much my sad tale. I destroyed my left ankle in a motorcycle accident, and now do OK, although "I had to give up the ballet." - Sorry, bad joke, but I love saying it. But, like you, I enjoyed the feeling I got on Vicodin. At first it was "a reward," for getting the yard work done, or following the wife around the mall, whatever.
In the beginning the swelling was so bad the doctor was not able to open the labia to examine me she said it looked like the size of a <span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>Grapefruit</span>, i couldn't sit down, wear trousers or tights, i was sent to several hospitals who all did the usual tests, all negative.
For back pain, I have been prescribed Tramadol, Toradol, and Vicodin---Vicodin being the only one that worked once again, but it was from a walk-in clinic, so I was only given 15 of them. For Restless Leg, I have been prescribed Requip, but it made me hallucinate, and made me EXTREMELY tired, so much that I feel asleep driving and hit a ditch (the doctor did not warn me of the side Effects---only told me that it was completely safe and would cure restless leg syndrome).
) I did throw up a couple times after they gave me some ginger ale- the best drink I had ever had, I was so thirsty- but this was a bit of a relief. The nurse actually gave me a Vicodin there-more meds- so I could sit up into a wheelchair and go to the car. Thank god my BF took good care of me; I could barely talk and was very, very out of it. It seems like they'd want to keep me around until I was at least more coherent and not puking. I was so happy when we got home.
(Case in point, I didn't read the bottle and used <span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>Grapefruit</span> seed extract - a natural anti-bacterial/anti-fungal alkalai - full-strength in a politice over an abscess tooth and burned my mouth - the bottle said don't use it full strength in the mouth but at 3am and in great pain I short-cutted the recommendations I found online and I didn't read the bottle.
after the first trimester (ok im going by what i read, dont take me as being 100% right, you have to be very careful) Lavender Roman Chamomile <span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>Grapefruit</span> Lemon Orange i myself have given up adding them to any massage oils while i am pregnant (im a massage therapist). i place lavender on the sheets for them so they have the calming scent, but i dont touch them. if you google you can find many sites with a long long list of those oils to avoid. you liked the eye of newt huh? lol.
I had surgery a month ago to remove a <span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>Grapefruit</span> sized fluid filled cyst. Ah, relief! If surgery is required you should request that a gyn/onc do it. This doesn't mean it is cancer but they have had years of extra training in this area. Please keep us posted over on the cyst forum. Good luck!
I personally could not do it. I am 48 hours off of 8-10 vicodin ES daily. With drawls suck, but this is a result of our decisions. If you can not taper yourself off then find someone to hold the pills for you and give them to you as you lower your dosage. The other option is to go talk to your doctor and he will prescribe a tapering regimen for you or prescribe something to help with with drawls. The most important thing is to get your life and your health back.
(Naturopathic Doctor) so I'm getting my information online, it's easy to find but you have to use your own common sense and do a lot of research before your act.
But in my experience after four days things begin to improve and you begin to take ownership of your mind and body again. To help with the withdrawals drink <span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>Grapefruit</span> Juice as this helps to get toxins out of the body, vitamin and mineral supplements or a vitamin tonic, an antehistamine (drowsy) taken at night will also keep your sinuses clear, drink plenty of fluids and have warm baths and eat healthy. Ibuprofen also help with the muscle aches and fever and remember throughout IT WILL END.
Now, I didn't expect to feel better right after that, because it puts a huge damper on your immune system. Well last May, I found out that I had two <span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>Grapefruit</span> sized cysts, one on my ovary and one was tubal. They rushed me in and removed them via surgery, after being sent home with vicodin from another emergancy room. For the past 4 months I have not had a period and my stomach has been bloated growing.

In addition two things I LOVE are <span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>Grapefruit</span> seed extract, astragulas and vitamin d are excellent. I am also taking an iodine supplement. I don't believe in these one size fits all deals, so be careful what you take.
When I woke up in ICU, she told me that they had to call in an OB/GYN because they found endometriosis the size of a <span style = 'background-color: #dae8f4'>Grapefruit</span> wrapped around my left ovary. They had to remove the ovary, and I lost so much blood that I had to have a transfusion. I felt vindicated that I finally had proven that there really was something wrong, but robbed of my ovary and all the years of fighting with doctors over my periods. It wasn't in my head!!
