You may want to switch that generic Venlafaxine to Effexor XR and perhap talk to you doc about adding Lithium. Good thing about Lithium is even if you don't have Bi-polar, it will still help a lot as an add on medication for your Effexor XR.
Generic Venlafaxine has no sustained release properties to it. This can pose a problem because it has such a short half life as atidepressants go.

I'm glad someone else is experiencing the same thing as me. I was on 150 mg Effexor XR (it worked for me) and then went off for about 5 months. I then went back on and it has been 7 weeks. I felt good at first, but now I am having morning anxiety/bad mood. I feel better as the day goes on. I too am wondering if I need to increase my dose, but 150 mg worked for me before. It's strange.

I am in the third week of weening off of Effexor XR 150. I consulted my physician on how to go about this and his recommendation was to switch to regular Effexor. For the first week, take 50mg in the AM and 50mg in the PM. Remove the PM dose in the second week. Take 50mg every OTHER day in the third week, and completely stop by the fourth week. First two weeks were no problem. The third week is horrible.
I am currently at 150 mg. So next month (July 09), under supervision of my doctor, I will go down to 50 mg twice daily for 2 weeks. Then after 2 weeks I'll go down to 75 mg once daily. After two weeks I'm going to continue with the 75 of Effexor and add the supplement called SAMe. I have done some research and have gotten the ok from my doctor to try taking SAMe along with the Effexor XR.

No, I am supposed to take 100 mg zoloft twice a day, for a total of 200 mg. I am supposed to take 150 mg of effexor xr, once a day, for a total of 150mg. I am supposed to take 300 mg gabapentin three times a day, for a total of 900 mg. The gaapentin is to take the place of Zanax, which I took for anxiety and ocd. Zanax is addictive so the doctor is replacing it with this.
This is due to Effexor xr at higher doses, anything above 37.5 mg which is the lowest starting dose will cause some type of w/d if stopped suddenly. This will occur if you have only been taking the drug for a short period of time 3-4 days. I've been on Effexor XR (venlafaxine) for more than a decade. I take it at night as I'm heading to bed and have done that since the very beginning and have no problem with it causing sleeping problems. I am very surprised that your doc started you out at a 75 mg dose as the typical onboarding dosage is only 37.5 mg for the first week or two and then increased, if warranted. The only problem I have ever had with Effexor was that it is incredibly difficult to stop taking.
