Hi
The WBC in urine along with blood is a sure sign of infection. A self striptest is not enough to know whether the WBCs have decreased or not. Nitrates are present in urine even otherwise. It is more important to test for nitrites which increase in infection.
It is advisable to get a urine culture and sensitivity test to know what organisms are causing the infection and which antibiotic they are sensitive to. Maybe the organisms are resistant to Bactrim and Cipro.
UrinBilirubin, Blood, Glucose, Ketones, Leukocytes, Nitrite, PH levels, Protein, Specific gravity, Urobilinogen
If everything is OK with one of these tests then no further investigation is needed?
FYI-- Walgreens and other pharmacies carry a product called azo which is OTC and used to treat UTI's. Some even carry AZP teststripsand you can dip your own urine at home, then follow with the azo treatment. Not sure if you are breastfeeding and what the azo says about nursing mothers so make sure to check with the pharmacist or instructions on the box regaurding that.
the ovum, which occurs six to twelve days after fertilization.
Ideally urine for pregnancy test should be done after 1 week of your missed periods date. Alternately, you can also use aimstrip urine for pregnancy test which is highly sensitive and can detect pregnancy after 10-12 days of conception.
I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.

I am concerned about the WBC being so high. The chem test comes up negative for WBC, but the microbiology shows 8-12.
No Leukocytes detected in the chem-strip, but WBCs found under the scope? What could this mean?
Any way, I am almost always in constant big time pain. I do have alot of UTIs. and I always feel like I have a uti. So, I have urineteststrips just like the Dr. labs have-so I don't have to run to the Dr. every other day. My question is.......I ALWAYS test positive for Leukocyte esterase (WBC esterase). and usually I test it is really high in WBC.....Why would I keep testing postive for WBC? Is this common for IC patients? Thanks for any light anyone can shed on this for me.....
These had been ongoing for a few months, intensifying in the last few weeks. He gave me a urinestriptest which showed nitritesand white blood cells so he prescribed 5 days of 500mg Levaquin. I came back in a week with the same symptoms, he gave another strip test with the same result: nitritesand WBC. He prescribed 2 weeks of 500mg Cipro, twice a day. I noticed no change in my symptoms and so I went to a urologist.
I guess I was stupid to think they would be clean! I have not been tested yet but I tried a UTI stripand it was positive for Leukocytes but not Nitrite. I mostly have tender testicles and some overall bladder pain. I will go and get tested tomorrow. Can a STD go from mouth to mouth? I also have a slight dry and sore throat, could that also be an STD? How long does the tests take to come back?
About a month ago I noticed nitrates were testing positive on the strips (Only +first morning urine), I had no symptoms of a UTI and I did nothing. Then a few days ago my urine appeared green and was testing for blood, leukocytes, protein (I always have this), and still the nitrates(Now positive at any time of day tested). I then began having urgency issues as well as right side flank pain. I went to the Dr. and she said my urine was a mess.
I don't have insurance and money is extremely tight, so instead of what I knew would be a $200 trip to doc in a box and a prescription for antibiotics, I chose an otc urineteststrip. It showed leukocytes but no nitrates. I am a 51 year old woman, excellent health, peri-menopausal and have had no period during this time.
Since I have had no urinary frequency, no fever, no other symptoms, I decided to try the natural-path route.
I took the at home teststripand sadly so I tested positive in Leukocytes and negative in the Nitrite. Now for the 3rd time I went back to the Drs. feeling depressed that I was still dealing with this. I was prescribed Cephalexin, 4x a day for 7 days. It is now 1 wk later, I just took another at home UTI test strip, and again it is showing positive for Leukocytes. What should be my next step? Should I set up an apt with a Urinologist?
You need a pelvic exam to rule out other causes of burning, and possibly a look into the bladder. If the nitrite pad is positive on the urine dip test, then you probably have a UTI, however if the nitrite pad is negative, that does not rule out a UTI. IC is a chronic disease, and most experts feel you have to have symptoms for at least 3 month with negative urine cultures before the diagnosis can be made.
I'm trying my best to stay off of my feet and that helps a lot. They suspected a UTI, but I took a test from walmart (you get three strips) and the first one said positive for the white blood cell and negative for the nitrite. (that meant something could be going on, or it could be nothing) The second one was completely negative and the third was the same as the first. I was so confused. Anyone ever take these tests and get accurate results??
Very small traces of blood is not seen in the urine, only a reagent urine analysis strip will show that this is present, but lab testing is more accurate.
Having the presence of leucocytes in the urine indicates an infection. I have been having a similary problem with my wateworks, just had a blood test to check on kidney function and am waiting for an appointment for an ultra sound. I suspect that I have either had or may be still have a kidney stone.
In the last few months i have even dreamt i was going to the bathroom and have slightly wet my bed three times. I did a azoteststrip fpr UTIs and WBC was positive but nitrites was negative. It was not the first urination since i got up and had been 3 and a half hours since. I have also had BV a few times in the last year. Dr. said all of this comes from menopause. I have only been on Prempro for less than a week. Any suggestions from you to stop this cycle would be grateful.

Thanks Dr. Went to the Dr. today. They did a urinetest that she told me came back negative for white blood cells, nitrites??? etc. Must have has a lab there as it came back pretty quickly. I had not urinated for like 4 hours so hopefully that was a good sample. Coupled with my negative Chlam/Ghon test she was kind of puzzled as to what it could be. She said maybe yeast but doubtful.
I have been testing my self severl times over the past 3 years for urine infectin using Urinalysis strips that including WBC andNitritetests but its always negative.
I am not sure what is causing this pain. Once a doctor said it could be becuase of some temporary injury to the prostate but now it has been about 3 years and this pain is still not gone.
I would greatly appreciate of some one can give me guidance what to do about this pain.
Is this somthing I need to really worry about?
Dear Dr. Hook,
Thank you very much for responding so quickly, and on a Sunday. It means a lot to me.
My only last question would be this: when you say most gonorrhea, do you have any idea of a %? >99%?
thanks, this will be my last question.
Nitrite (maybe)***********
high number of false negative test results in small animals
nitrites occur in urine during some bacterial infections.
Leukocytes (only interesting for dogs)***********
False positive test results often occur in cats, and this test is clinically unreliable.
So only measuring PH, Blood and perhaps nitritesand Protein in urine are interesting.
