Avatar n tn But if you really did have something wrong like a gallstone or other bile blockage, then the urine test will remain constant in showing the problem on repeated tests. If you didn't have the strip stored properly, the testing chemicals on the strip will become compromised/contaminated and will give you the crazy results. Be sure your test strips are stored in a small, airtight container. And that you use a clean urine collection cup as well.
Avatar n tn I frequently use urine test strips to test my urine when I feel unwell that may be waterwork problem. Have had kidney stone surgically removed in the past. Nitrite on the stick will mean that it is a bladder problem - usually Cystitis. Positive leucocyte reading on the stick with or without signs of protein, usually means that there is a bacterial infection. If the doctor said you have a uti (urinary tract infection) this is anywhere from the kidneys down.
Avatar n tn The test strips that I use are 10LG Parameter Urine Reagent Strips which can be bought on line at a reasonable price. These strips detect Leukocytes, Nitrite, Urobilinogen, Protein, pH, Blood, Specific Gravity, Ketone, Bilirubin, Glucose. You can get strips that detect less. The one that would be of interest if someone is suffering from dehydration is the Specific Gravity reading.
Avatar n tn I recently bought some reagent strips to measure the blood in my urine and it showed trace amounts of hemolyzed blood. I am currently fighting a case of gastroenteritis, is there any connection and should I go back to the Dr?

Avatar n tn I got Ketostix Reagent test strips, and i used them twice, and they both came out negative! I really hope it was just my stress level and lack of food!
1973666 tn?1325964688 Why not buy a pack of urine reagent test strips that you can use to test your urine for protein. A pack of 100 strips can be had for not too much money ($12.00 to around $50 depending on the brand). Find them through Google. Then if you see that you do have protein in your urine, you could use the strip as evidence to show your primary doctor that you need a referral to a nephrologist. I like the idea of using strips for testing at different times of day.
Avatar m tn ( cant find any. My urine test was done at a labratory not in the doctors office.
Avatar m tn You can buy on line Urine Reagent Strips quite cheaply. There are some that test the urine just for glucose, but they do not give an accurate recording of how much sugar there is in the blood stream. These sticks are a good indicator, but they will only detect glucose in the urine if there is above a certain level (fairly high) of glucose in the urine. An HbA1c blood test shows average blood glucose levels over a sustained period (about a 3 month period).
Avatar m tn I don't think the reagent strips are still available in earlier generations, well they aren't for some manufacturers' machines. The 4th generation reagent strips are drop in replacements for earlier gen reagent strips on the same machine in some instances. ELISA is used because it is cheap, easy, require a low level of skill to run.
Avatar f tn A doctor testing your urine by using urine reagent strips would also be able to see if you have an infection. And would prescribe you with an antibiotic. Laboratory tests are more specific which bacteria is causing the problem and which antibiotic is suitable.
Avatar n tn Here is a link with a graph that explain what Frank just acurratly said. http://www.roche-hiv.com/portal/eipf/pb/hiv/Roche-HIV/first-line_diagnosis;jsessionid=H9P788Z1313xnxbdN0R26vvG5rthpHfcbcQCw2BhxS0wJMx2Zb2B!-1520863363_DARGS=/portal/templates/rochehiv/page/html/searchInPageTemplate.
Avatar m tn The HIV test that we send to CDC uses the reagent with 3rd generation. The reagent used by CDC lab is manufactured by Biomeriux Co.ltd. Please could anyone talk about the quality and reliability of the test mentioned above ? What is third gen reagent ? is it a duo test ? I am confused ?
Avatar f tn When will my doctor get the results from a urine test? They have an in house lab.
Avatar n tn In many cases the clinics do not know which type of test is in use. They will just say it's an antibody test and to test outside the window period. I asked the health advisor here what type of test they used when they tested me at 28 days. She was a little taken aback I asked and said it was just a normal antibody test. It was only after I tested outside the window that I found out the test they use is a combined Antibody / P24 Antigen test.
Avatar f tn I have been scared of ngu or some other form of infection. I have used multiply uti test strips which test white blood cell count in urine. None have been positive, one or two showed trace amount of wbc (I've taken about 18 tests). Would these show an infection (ngu) if one existed???
6850426 tn?1385499085 I am aware of some urine problems like I mentioned in my early message due to my own experience and using a reagent test strip. A laboratory test on the urine is more accurate and gives actual levels. Best wishes.
Avatar m tn I would like to know if I stopped taking Percocet how long would it be before it is out of my system so I could pass a drug test ?
Avatar f tn Yes, a urine quick test can tell you if you have WBC, but not if you have gonorrhea, chlamydia, NGU or another infection that could be causing that. You need specific tests for that. If you have concerns about those, you need to let the doctor know so they can do specific tests.
Avatar f tn I cannot get tested due to being deployed with the armed forces which the only test available are urine dipsticks (own bottle). I have had all the hep jabs etc. My penis looks normal and 10 parameter urine test strips have normal results at day 6/7. If I do not have any penile discharge penile sores/blisters etc symptoms by day 7, bacterial STDs such as NGU and Gono can be ruled out? And do I have more chance of winning the lottery than catching herpes and syphilis?
Avatar m tn My question is about the safety issues of the OraQuick HIV test. Does any component contain HIV protein which may induce seroconversion? With other words, if the reagent has contact with mucosa or goes to the blood, may it convert the subject to HIV positive?
Avatar f tn Hi had an 86 day HIV test in a private medical clinic in Brazil. The results were in portugese but I have run them through google translate. I just wanted to double check that it was the correct test that was done and is conclusive. here are the main points on the page. Can anyone confirm this is a 4th Gen Duo test which has tested for antibodies to HIV and can I be completely sure these results confirm I definitely did not catch HIV.
Avatar n tn But I read that the urine reading can lag 2 to 4 hours behind what ur body is actually doing. Later in the night, after eating, I used ketostix reagent strips for ketone testing, and it was negative. All tests since have also been negative. Any feedback would be great. Like I said the Dr said its PROBABLY not significant and to check again another time. But I cant help but worry. Im just curious how serious this could be. Arte my Kidneys likely damaged?
Avatar f tn Hi! I have used Clinical Guard ovulation strips, and they work. But I just discovered some called BFP, they make ovulation & pregnancy test strips, and they are super accurate and easy to read. They're my new "go-to" brand. I buy off of Amazon. Good luck! & lots of baby dust!
7165836 tn?1388803685 These can be purchased quite cheaply over the internet. You cannot buy these from the chemist. I buy the 100 of the10 reagent strips, but you can purchase strips that can show up less that 10 problems and a lesser quantity. You do need to know what you are looking for so as to interpret the results correctly. The strips can indicate if there is a problem but the laboratory tests are more precise.
