Avatar f tn I am also looking to see who has type II diabetes and has used HCG and what have been the results before I decide to do it. Did you stop your medication? or did you stay on your medications? I am thinking your blood sugar would go down if you use both and that would be no good, so I am thinking of just using the HCG - drops.

Avatar n tn Hi Dalki, Yes, in time your doctor will likely know for sure which type of diabetes you have. In addition to Type 1 and Type 2, there seems to be a type 1.5 ... tho' there's some thought that 1.5s are just in the early stages of Type 1. We DMers (folks with diabetes mellitis) and our docs often call that a honeymoon phase. I hope you're feeling better now that your bloodsugar has begun to come down. Things may remain volatile for a while, so try to be patient with yourself.
Avatar n tn I assume you get regularly tested for thyroid to make sure that isn't the cause of your weight gain and you don't need an adjustment in thyroid meds. Insulin doesn't make people gain weight, though sometimes people lose weight when initially diagnosed with very high numbers and when their blood sugar gets under control they continue eating the same way and gain weight. Another cause of weight gain in Type 1's is insulin resistance.

Avatar f tn Congratulations! I was diagnosed with Type 1 when I was 4, have been on an insulin pump since I was 16, & gave birth to a perfectly healthy girl at the age of 25. It can be done, but it takes a lot of hard work on your part along with a great medical team. I worked with my normal OBGYN who referred me to see a Maternal Fetal Medicine Specialist & Dietitian.
Avatar n tn s she had thryroid test within that past year as both thyroid and celiac are common autoimmine diseases with type 1 and constipation is a sypotom of thyroid disease.

Avatar n tn hello, i am 29 years old and just became diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Before the doctors visit i lost alot of weight. I am now 5'8" and weigh 145lbs. Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Type 11 last year and have been trying to control my diabetes with diet alone. Recently my blood sugar has been quite high, regardless of what I eat. I am keeping a diary for my doctor and he may prescribe Metformin. I know I can go to Diabetes classes for info but was wondering if one can eat more normally by taking Metformin? And it seemed to spike when I had a cold but the cold is gone, but not the high blood sugar readings. Anyone else affected by illness?
Avatar f tn My daughter is 38 and has had type 1 for 30 years. Over the last two years she has put on considerable weight which is making her depressed, she has also recently broken her leg and is finding it really hard to manage on the crutches because of her weight. Is there any regime she can follow to try and reduce her weight. When fit she does swim once a week and also attends Bokwa classes.
Avatar f tn I'm 29 and was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 18 months ago. it has been extremely difficult to lose weight since I got on insulin. i am on lantas/humalog and exercise regularly. If I work to reduce my lantus dosage while maintaining a proper blood sugar will that aid weight loss? Does anything out there help to boost metabolism in diabetics? Frustrated! Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Avatar n tn There are more than 1 antibody to test for, and also some other tests to define between type 1 and 2. Dinner persons with type 1 are apparently antibody negative. Your presentation doesnt appear typical for type 2. Please see what your endocrinologist says. Regardless, if insulin is what works then don't be concerned to take it. Let us know what happens with your endo visit.
Avatar f tn To help control your blood sugar (aside from the insulin) you need to adopt the followign for diet and exercise:- 1. Ideally 30 minutes of exercise after each meal. However, this may not always be possible, but do aim at 30 minutes of moderate exercise (brisk walking, stationary bike, swimming, etc) every day. 2. Avoid white carbs. By this I mean white bread, rice, pasta, all candies and sweets and processed foods. Avoid fruit juice. 3.
