trileptal

471949 tn?1236904026 This has been the only med that has been able to control his seizures. He has frontal lobe epilepsy with seizures that only occured in his sleep (with a couple of rare exceptions). Thanks for your help.
666129 tn?1225302040 I have had no lasting problems so far. It has completely stopped my seizures. I have TLE. Yes I was also told the same thing about being on it forever... I don't know how long the drug has been out in the US. Guess we need to do some research. Stay in touch.
Avatar f tn He was prescribed Dylantin which was switched to Keppra. His neurologist recently added Trileptal to balance his levels because he was having seizures so often. His therapist also prescribed him Celexal and Elavil for depression medication due to bipolar disorder. Now it seems that the 2 anti-depressants have a side effect of seizures, which causes him to seize more than usual. Should the 4 meds be mixed, Keppra, Celexa, Elavil and Trileptal?
Avatar n tn My son just turned 4 in June--seizures started in March w/a grand mal. He's now on trileptal--unsure if we should go to zonogran. He's been have short seizures - yesterday 9 which was tyhe most--since he's been on that med. He's had seizure free days but it's unbelievable how he'll just short out!! I don't know what to do - he has a bad temper @ times from the meds OR the seizures--I'm afraid the Zonogram may make him worse????
Avatar f tn My daughter was a thin child, who took Tegretol for seizures, and gained a large amount of weight in a short time. We stopped the medication, but the weight did not reduce.
959034 tn?1253671476 Which meds are best for which seizures? What does everybody else taking? Is it working? Does it make you sleepy? Side effects? How much do you take? Do you like it? Was it the first one you tried? Did you have to try many to find one that you liked?
Avatar f tn I currently take Trileptal for Partial Seizures (my seizures are well controlled with it) but whenever I miss 2 doses in a row (which I obviously try not to), I experience numbness and tingling in my face and head. I know these are symptoms of MS and I know Trileptal can be used for MS patients to help with nerve issues. I guess my question is should I see my neurologist? Is it possible that this face numbness/tingling sensations are symptoms of MS? FYI I am a 33 yr old female.
Avatar n tn I take trileptal if you would like to look into that, but that is just my opinion again I am no doctor. Trileptal has minimal side effects. Her doctor will probably know what it is. If the seizures are occuring at night they could be nocturnal seizures.
Avatar f tn I have tonic-clonic seizures, and absence seizures generally. I have headaches that cause blurry vision. I see these color blobs that move in my vision that shouldn’t be there, they don’t show any connection to stimuli so I don’t have synesthesia. I’m on levetiracetam aka keppra and clobazam aka onfi.
Avatar f tn Ok so, I have been taking the's meds for like 2 months now. I am taking 150 mg of Zoloft and 1800 mg of Trileptal daily. I have been very emotional, like it's that time of the month but it's not, for the last week and for like 2 days now, just randomly I smell weird as ****... Like I was warming up some pizza rolls and it smelled like sweaty day old gym clothes and then I heated up something else and it smelled like day old pissy clothes... Is this normal??
Avatar f tn said they were complex partial seizures and she went on dilantin and depakote then keppra and ended with trileptal and now on keppra and trileptal...seizures still are not controlled and she goes through cyles of increased seizures and memory loss and headaches and seizures seem to be getting more frequent and the keppra is terrible...and now they want to try lamitra or zonegran...every mediceine is so disruptive to her and do not control the seizures..
Avatar n tn My daughter at the begining of last summer ,started having seizures... other wise a happy go lucky girl. she has been through lots of tests and her EEG came back abnormal in her left hemisphere.Since then she has been on a roller coaster of drugs.. She is currently on Keppra (3 in the am)250mg, also one Trileptal 300 mg, then the same dose for the pm. I am trying to be the best mom I can by talking up this new findings with everyone I know and don't..
Avatar f tn I finally found a med that works miracles....Trileptal. His seizures stopped completely!!! And zero side effects!!! Now, this drug is expensive as hell, but my insurance pays for it...but even if they didn't it would be worth it. Best of luck!!!
Avatar f tn He went from 75-100 seizures a day, including drop seizures. He has been seizure free for 1.5 years. That was the best team of doctors I have ever met. We went to 8 before someone could find out what was wrong with him. So, its scary but the surgery is the best thing we ever could have done. He is now able to start learning, and he came off of all medication except for 75 mg of zonegran. He was on 1400mg a day. It has made a huge difference. Hope this helps.
505751 tn?1225032462 Hi Sherry...I don't believe that we have spoken before but I have been diagnosed with MS and I presented with grand mal seizures! My name is Rena and I have been a member on the Forum since about October of last year. I was first diagnosed with MS in 1993. I presented though with grand mal seizures that I had only when I was in bed at night. I don't know that I would have been aware of them if my hubby hadn't been there. I would only wake up in the a.m.
Avatar n tn Hi ggreg, Thanks for the reply. My Dr. Took me off all my Meds and so the only Meds i am currently on is the Ativan 1mg and there tapering me off of that also... ever since i was placed in the hospital the day i had (2) Grand Mal Seizures the Dr. put me back on Ativan and i had no Seizures again since. But when the Nuro.
643983 tn?1242175018 I wish I could get an answer to that as well. I was dx with temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) a few months ago and taking Trileptal (450 mg per day), it seems to be working pretty well for me (I was having simple partial seizures and still have some aura on occasion, I will be talking to my neurologist about this on the next appointment). My neurologist was not able to tell me what caused it, I don't think I ever had a head injury.
664798 tn?1225821618 will chantix efect the use of all my meds for seizures/hiv.
Avatar f tn I am 23 and have been suffering from intense migraines for about 12 years. Seizuresfor about 3 years, but this isn't about the seizures.
Avatar f tn I did Trileptal instead. I had no issues with it. Then I went to a pain clinic where they think outside the box. They had me on so much medication before the pain clinic it was not funny with each symptom they upped dosages or added pills. I was a walking Pharmacy. I was on 4 anti seizures at once. Now I am on none. They have to keep tweaking at the pain clinic and it takes time, but I take way less medication and do not feel as gross from side effects.
233622 tn?1279334905 I have had lots of seizure meds, due to a seizure disorder which has since disappeared, thankfullly. I've been on trileptal, topomax, lamotrigene, keppra, gabapentin(neurontin) and lyrica. Side effects made me stop the first three, a suspected side effect stopped me from taking the keppra, though we know now that it wasn't the med (my facial sensory stuff), I have only been given the last two for nerve pain.
Avatar f tn The EEG report suggested to consider complex partial seizures. I was placed on Topamax to which I had a bad reaction and was taken off after two weeks. I am now on Trileptal for now to see how my body tolerates that. WHatI need to know is if there are any other tests that can be run to confirm if in fact those spikes or discharges are complex partial seizures. The only physical manifestion I presented with was a tremor in my right arm.
Avatar f tn My five year old grandson had his first seizure on 3/21 and surgery to remove a benign left frontal astrocytoma on 5/11. Before the surgery he started on Keppra to control the seizures which did not work. Then Trileptal was added but still did not work so Depakote added finally mostly kept the seizures to a few minor ones a day. After the totally successful surgery to remove the tumor he was kept on the Depakote as a precaution for an undetermined length of time.
Avatar f tn I've never heard of it, what does her neurologist say?
Avatar n tn currently 6ml in the a.m. and 8ml in the p.m. (the concentration is 300mg/5ml.) About 2 weeks ago, his dose of Trileptal was increased from 6ml twice a day to the present dosage (because he was still having some mild break-through seizures). Around the same time, his teacher has mentioned that he is not "listening" well to her directions, and sometimes she has to re-explain her directions to him.
