Trileptal partial seizures

Common Questions and Answers about Trileptal partial seizures

trileptal

Avatar n tn Hi, my son is 4 and just went on trileptal a few months ago. He has focal seizures/temporal lobe (partial and partial complex) not sure if this is the same as your sons-it seems these seizures have many names. He has had them since 2 1/2.. My son does have a strong tempermant and is very particular about things-I have seen a bit of increase since the meds started but not much.
Avatar f tn I currently take Trileptal for Partial Seizures (my seizures are well controlled with it) but whenever I miss 2 doses in a row (which I obviously try not to), I experience numbness and tingling in my face and head. I know these are symptoms of MS and I know Trileptal can be used for MS patients to help with nerve issues. I guess my question is should I see my neurologist? Is it possible that this face numbness/tingling sensations are symptoms of MS? FYI I am a 33 yr old female.
Avatar n tn She has now, at age 21 yrs complex partial seizures and when she is in them she asks the questions over and over again within seconds, "What time is is? What day is it? Do I have anything to do today? What am I doing tomorrow?" This goes on for 2 mins and last night it was about 12 minutes...the longest ever. She has had one EEG and CT scan.
643983 tn?1242175018 I was dx with temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) a few months ago and taking Trileptal (450 mg per day), it seems to be working pretty well for me (I was having simple partial seizures and still have some aura on occasion, I will be talking to my neurologist about this on the next appointment). My neurologist was not able to tell me what caused it, I don't think I ever had a head injury. He did say that my severe complex sleep apnea made it worse, but was not the cause.
Avatar f tn said they were complex partial seizures and she went on dilantin and depakote then keppra and ended with trileptal and now on keppra and trileptal...seizures still are not controlled and she goes through cyles of increased seizures and memory loss and headaches and seizures seem to be getting more frequent and the keppra is terrible...and now they want to try lamitra or zonegran...every mediceine is so disruptive to her and do not control the seizures..
Avatar m tn I have lived withe epilepsy all my life and have partial complex and simple seizures due to tuberous sclerosis on the brain. Is it logical that I am now feeling over fatigued because of being on a fluid restricted intake because of low sodium readings and trileptal. 127 reading. Senior category age wise.
Avatar f tn Dear HealedNow, Can understand the stress and pain and insecurity you are going through. As you said, lack of information, is the main cause of all these. But believe me, the dissatisfaction would only worsen this. Meningiona is one of the most (Second) common tumors of the CNS (Central Nervous System) which are usually benign but can turn malignant. They arise from the meninges. The behavioural change, which you have noticed is due to the tumor location.
Avatar f tn My daughter is 15 and was diagnosed with Partial Complex seizures when she was about 10. She began taking Trileptal and it worked well for her for about 4 years and then she began having break thru seizures. It made her tired, but other than that she did well on it. She then tried Lamictal which made her feel terrible. Awful stomach pains. Now she is on Keppra XR and still on Trileptal as well. Working through side effects.
471949 tn?1236904026 This has been the only med that has been able to control his seizures. He has frontal lobe epilepsy with seizures that only occured in his sleep (with a couple of rare exceptions). Thanks for your help.
666129 tn?1225302040 I have had no lasting problems so far. It has completely stopped my seizures. I have TLE. Yes I was also told the same thing about being on it forever... I don't know how long the drug has been out in the US. Guess we need to do some research. Stay in touch.
Avatar f tn This EEG report was much shorter and less detailed than the first however, the neurologist feels she does not need medication since the eeg did not show the same thing. Does a digital EEG show more activity? Is it possible she does have complex partial seizures but it did not show up this time? What does the second EEG mean? The Dr said not to worry about it because she had an MRI and it was normal. I am worried.
1221035 tn?1301000508 I also have simple and complex partial seizures. I am wondering if this is related to my MS, medication related, or a seizure? I am on Neurontin for seizures and Zanaflex for the MS. Anyone have a tingling tongue or any ideas about what this could be?
Avatar f tn Hello. My son Roman, was 1 when he suddenly had 4 partial seizures in one day, with no past of seizures or any other condition. We were immediately admitted into the hospital and he continued to have them, sometimes during sleep, sometimes when awake, it seemed that there was nothing that triggered them around him. The neurologist performed a spot EEG and a 24 hr EEG and could catch nothing on either one, didn't have seizures during them.
Avatar f tn He was prescribed Dylantin which was switched to Keppra. His neurologist recently added Trileptal to balance his levels because he was having seizures so often. His therapist also prescribed him Celexal and Elavil for depression medication due to bipolar disorder. Now it seems that the 2 anti-depressants have a side effect of seizures, which causes him to seize more than usual. Should the 4 meds be mixed, Keppra, Celexa, Elavil and Trileptal?
Avatar m tn I have partial seizures and experienced what you are talking about. My seizure activity is in the left temporal lobe. I am on 900 mg of Trileptal a day and now seldom have these spells. Have you had an EKG to see if you may have seizure activity? My MRI and routine blood tests were also normal. It was also found that I have severe central sleep apnea, which made the seizures worse. A CPAP helped with this problem.
Avatar f tn My daughter was a thin child, who took Tegretol for seizures, and gained a large amount of weight in a short time. We stopped the medication, but the weight did not reduce.
959034 tn?1253671476 Which meds are best for which seizures? What does everybody else taking? Is it working? Does it make you sleepy? Side effects? How much do you take? Do you like it? Was it the first one you tried? Did you have to try many to find one that you liked?
Avatar f tn I have tonic-clonic seizures, and absence seizures generally. I have headaches that cause blurry vision. I see these color blobs that move in my vision that shouldn’t be there, they don’t show any connection to stimuli so I don’t have synesthesia. I’m on levetiracetam aka keppra and clobazam aka onfi.
Avatar f tn Ok so, I have been taking the's meds for like 2 months now. I am taking 150 mg of Zoloft and 1800 mg of Trileptal daily. I have been very emotional, like it's that time of the month but it's not, for the last week and for like 2 days now, just randomly I smell weird as ****... Like I was warming up some pizza rolls and it smelled like sweaty day old gym clothes and then I heated up something else and it smelled like day old pissy clothes... Is this normal??
Avatar f tn People with a generalized seizure disorder are usually born with it, while people with partial or complex partial get it sometime during thier life. Generlaized seizures occurr over the entire brain, while complex partial only occurr in a section of the brain. I have complex partial seizures that occurr in my right temporal lobe. They started from a head injury I got when I was three. They occurr only while I'm sleeping.
Avatar f tn Her seizures sound like complex partial, and Trileptal is a great choice for those.
