That means that it should be entirely out of your system in about 36 hours or so. Have fun with withdrawals. While you are having them read my blog on tramadol misuse by clicking my name and then blogs, then look for it and you may enjoy reading especially the comments I got.
I can't remember if I asked this before or not but does Tramadol affect the same receptors that codeine does? I swear I need to see the Wizard of Oz and get a brain!
Tramadol needs to be tapered off of. Look for avisg and read her journals and send her a PM if you need her to do a specific taper plan. Seizures are possible if they quit cold turkey or taper too fast.
Get this, its been years ago but my family doc (had the nerve) to write a script for Tramadol 50 mg, one every 8 hours. Cruel joke for a trying to heal Damaged Sciactic Nerve on left side & Sciatica on both!!! I never saw her again.
First time I've had a chance to tell him I've been off of Tramadol for nearly 3 months (he wanted to put me on them again for my headaches)..I told him "no" and why and he repeated the mantra that tramadol is not addictive. "perhaps not when used as directed, but I can tell you case after case of people i know who have become addicted to it and go through worse withdrawls than many other opiates. He was quite surprised.
WD's are worse than vics because there are these bug crawling feelings. They moved me to 40mg oxy from Tramadol and I still had yucky WD's for a few days. Just sickening to think about *shiver*, it is even suggest that you use vics to taper down from the ultram, Vic WD's are easier to deal with. You can also siezure from c/t on ultram (depending on the amount your taking).
Agreed! What goes up, Must indeed come down. And the coming down part is never too fun for some reason. I'm doing the best I can to do my time like a man. Thanks for the good wishes.
I'm not sure about the half-life but you could not pay me to take that drug for pain EVERAGAIN! I feel for anyone dealing with it. Shame on Docs for guinea-pigging us because of the DEA! Yeah, I can't say it enough....ultram/Tramadol is freaky and weird!
The Thomas method is good but not for tramadol. The benzos should be used to sleep, but only for a couple days (i'd say max 5 days). Then, after that, you are on your own. It will take a couple weeks to a month to feel better. Exercise as much as you can!!!! That will help the most. I know that you won't feel like it, but you should really try to do it.
I have been on Tramadol for about 2 yrs. At first it worked for my pain and made me feel very good and ontop of the world. After awhile I had to keep taking more and more until I was abusing it just to be pain free. It was a never ending cycle running out starting to go through withdrawls and then getting back. Well today is my ninth day off of it and I am in pure agony!!! I do not know what to do. I do not want to go back to it but, I can not live like this. How long do the withdrawls last?
Hello Andrew, I'm sure you have probably received replies to your posting by now, but I thought I should let you know about my experience with Ultram (tramadol). I was taking Ultram for about 6 months, right after its introduction, for lower back pain from 2 spinal surgeries. During this time, I was also suffering from depression. I was prescribed elevil (tricyclic antidepressant) along with Ultram. These two meds didn't mix!
I was prescribed Tramadol early this year for "Chronic Pain." The Dr. and the Pharmacist said that it was not addictive. I have not abused the Medication. I take 100mg 2 times a day. I have also been doing exercise and physical therapy for my pain. I decided to cut back and get off the Tramadol a couple of weeks ago because I'm not having bad pain, and it has been aliving Hell. Just cutting down 50mg at a time gave me extreme anxiety.
or do you HAVE to stay with the program as long as your dr tells you. He wants to get off of the tramadol and the program seems to be more for addicts to heroin and stronger type drugs that may cause a relapse. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Sorry for the not so short story here to get to the point:(.
I started taking trams for shoulder pain and for fun. That was about 6 months ago, These pills are hell to come off of. I have binged for days at a time on vikes, perks, and would take the occasional oxy. But fell in love with trams. I lost about 15 pounds and decided i have to stop. I have been off them for 4 days now and have been using 3 darvocet a day for the withdrawl. 1 1/2 in the morning and 1 1/2 at night this is the only thing that has worked for me so far.
I have been taking tramadol now for about 8 years for cronic pain. I have had to increase my dose over the years to about 400 to 600mg. a day in order to funciton. I know this is a dangerous dose but every time I try to cut down or stop taking the medication I have extreme pain and my mood is very agitated and I just can't work or even run my household. I need to know how long these symtoms will go on or if there is a better way of getting off this drug than going cold turkey.
I stopped the morphine easy and restarted it but the tramadol I heard is much harder. Besides the recipe, any ideas for tapering? Yesterday, I took 75mg in the am and 100 at night. I was taking 300-400 not long ago and there was no problem going down. Any advice would be helpful.
Hi I'm katy, I'm 20 and have been on tramadol for over 14 months now, I tried to stop taking them last september but was struggling with all the withdrawal, so the doctor prescribed me with my own & told me to cut down as much as I could, so he put them on a precription so I get 28 once a month but they don't even last half - then I take my mums stronger ones, I don't know if I can get off them at all I've been used to them - and how they make me feel for a whilr & I like the way it make
Ive been on tramadol since 2006. In the begging it wasn't cuz I needed it, it was more for fun. Over the years I started using it as a part of my routines daily. 4 at about noon than 4 rite before bed. Noon time cuz it put me in a good mood and gave me energy. Rite before bed I take 4 because for some reason I wake up feeling great. It became a daily routine. I've excelled at my job. Got a life changing promotion about 2 weeks ago. It hasn't affected my personal life, my job or anything.
I battled addiction to Tramadol for over 15 years. It was hard to come off of for sure (it's got the anti-depressant properties and thus makes it like detoxing from 2 meds instead of just one). If you are at day 5, you are probably past the worst of the physical stuff - and that is awesome. Sleep seems to be a common problem with this med (and many other opiates as well). It is different for everyone, and may depend on the amount of time used and the dosing. My habit was pretty extreme.
Hello, I am 30 days off of tramadol ( 2pills 3x daily sometimes more) they were prescribed to me for fibromyalgia and I was on them for 2 years. I was on hydrocodone for about a year before the tramadol and I wanted to get off the narcotics so I was put on tramadol since its "non narcotic"...!!! Yeah right! I quit taking the hydrocodone cold turkey and the withdrawal from those was way easier than the withdrawal from tramadol! Anyways...
Tramadol also works by enhancing the activity of neurotransmitters in the brain and spinal cord. Neurotransmitters are chemical compounds that act as chemical messengers between the nerve cells. Tramadol enhances the effect of the neurotransmitters serotonin and noradrenaline, and this action also helps relieve pain.
It's been 2 years since I first got injured and since then I have had 9 surgeries. I have also taken tramadol everyday for these past two years (also lortab, but I was able to get rid of that) even though I never abused tramadol and took it for the right reasons I still became very addicted and my tolerance built up so high that I had to take more to stop hurting. It was completely taking over my life. It's all I could focus on. I finally decided to quit. Completely cold turkey.
Hi I have been taking 150mg of tramadol per day for a yer for back pain! I have heard withdrawal is pretty bad and you cn have seizures! Should I ween down my dose over time or is it safe or me to jut stop on my dose?? Thanx for your time!!
I feel so helpless..I don't know what to do..He has been on Tramadol for 2 years. In the beginning a Dr prescribed. Then, he started getting them over the internet, and taking 15-20 a day. He finally decided last week he's finished. His life has been in a downward spiral since the first pill. He can no longer do any of the things he used too. Motocross was his life. He hasn't been on the bike in a very long time. He went to the Dr and he sent him to a substance abuse program.
I have been taking tramadol for around 3 years up to 1000 mg's a day. Are there any doctors in nyc, who take medicaid, who will not just tell me to taper off. tapering off is impossible. It just prolongs the agony. I'd really love to get off the stuff, as 1000 mg's don't even make me feel better anymore. It seems if I were on heroin, i could easily obtain treatment, but tramadol? I can't find any help. Thank you anyone who can help me.
How long does it take for the symptoms of tramadol WD to stop or reduce as I have been off for 3 days and feel the symptoms are just as bad. Is weaning any better (or does it work) . Is there anything to help the leg pains?s. Worst is no sleep and my legs are killing me. so painful I can't stay still yet so exhausted I can't sit up. Am I gonna feel better once I'm finally free of it?
But to many people, if they can successfully taper, then it makes it easier for them. I for one was never able to have the will power for a taper, so C/T it was. But like I said, You will still w/d but if the taper is slow enough, it wont be as brutal. Also, Trams have a longer half life so once you are done completely, the majority of the physical w/d's wont hit until about day 2. So just be prepared for that.
I have been in detox/rehab twice for use of tramadol. All the time my doctors stated that tramadol is a non addictive medication. Guess they were wrong!! Struggle it out for a few days and it will get much better. I know it sucks right now, but I never imagined how much better I felt after I detoxed and began to think normally again. I have some serious addiction trouble with vicodin, oxy, tramadol, phentenyl, and percocet. Please hang in there and by the grace of God, you will just fine.
Do you have enough to taper . I would try 6 for three days five for three andso on. I am afriad if you CT it you might have another seizure. Have you talk to the doctor about this ?
One of the scariest and hardest things of my life, and I've been on a PDR's worth of meds over the years. Tramadol has an anti depressant effect....that accounts for the energy it gave you. There are symptoms you'll have and things you can do to treat them. I'm not normally a "vitamin girl" but I learned to be. I was desperate, so I took the advice I was given, and just held on as tight as I could to my friends here on Medhelp and at home. You have to have some kind of support.
