throat infection and cough

Hello Sir, thanks for your suggestion, but doctors could not find any results in blood samples. Everything is normal .Still I am suffering from dry cough, itchy skin, sore throat and ulcer. Can I do a HIV test?

Looks like your symptoms of sore throat and runny nose have progressed with resultant addition of cough and sputum. It could have started as a cold and progressed to a throat infection. This if left untreated could progress to tonsillitis. The commonest pathogen (agent) causing throat infections is a group A Streptococcus bacteria. Besides this Group B Streptococcus, mycoplasma, neisseria and cornybacterium are known to cause throat infections.

For several weeks I have felt as if I have a hair in the back of my throat and start to cough and brought up mucus at the beginning of the infection. Now I just start to cough without warning. Is this airconditioning in the car or apartment? Any ideas?

It hurts in my chest when I cough and feels almost like I am trying to cough up a lung. And now my nose is starting to be runny and there is a lot of mucus that is now draining into my throat making it feel worse, and really sore. Is there any way to get rid of it?

Hello and hope you are doing well. The other causes for long term cough besides asthma are GERD and post nasal drip from allergies. GERD is gastro esophageal reflux disease where the stomach acids come back into the esophagus and spill into the wind pipe causing cough. Treatment with antacids will help neutralize the acids. Post nasal drips can occur with sinusitis and throat infections. Giving up cigarettes will abolish smoker's cough in 90% of people.

The thing is that my throat first started giving me this burning sensation in the back of throat, and little cough while I was in a hotel room with A/C on and smoking cigarretes. Later during the night the sore throat came back, drank and smoked quite a lot that night. On sunday, had no particular sore thraot nor cough, but on monday my sore throat came back, it was pretty mild, nothing painful, it subsided on tuesday evening, leaving only dry cough till sunday.

The reason I say post nasal drip is because it is usually more noticeable at night and you usually cough more at night. Good luck and if you need anything else please post!

Exposure to allergens causes a runny nose with a resultant post nasal drip where secretions from the nose go backward into the throat and irritate causing cough. Cough is a protective mechanism by the body as it helps to prevent infections. You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper clinical assessment. In the meantime for relief from your symptoms you could do warm salt gargles and take OTC antihistamines. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

I was just about to post because I have terrible sore throat that is killer when I cough. I need to take something other than these cough drops and hot tea w/ lemon cause it's not working.

It started with a sore throat and headache and pain in his sinus region as well as phlem in the back of the throat and a cough started. Do you have a cough. After the 3rd attack, I nursed him back to health with plenty of bed rest, 4,000mg of Vitamin C per day, home-made turkey soup and plenty of juicy fruits like citrus (oranges and lemons; the lemon was squeezed in his herbal tea) and berries (strawberries, blueberries..etc).

About two days ago I came down with a throat infection and completely lost my voice, this was followed by some sort of chest infection. THe other is perhaps it is bile from the gallbladder or a stomach ulcer something along those lines might fit since you have a lack of appetite as well and constipation. m in my 10th week of treatment I have developed an awful cough but also my voice is very raspy and my throat hurts from time to time sometimes severely my doc says there is no infection but it feels like it , I gave up smoking cause I was finding it difficult to breath anyone else had this ?

The doctor thought you had a bacterial infection and prescribed cephalexin for you. If you do have an infection of the throat and tonsil, you must continue the whole dose (7-10days) of the antibiotic. He should have done a throat culture to make sure it was not viral, and to make sure you were given the correct antibiotic if it is bacterial. Never take antibiotics if it is viral.

for 3 days i felt exhaused and slept a lot, the exhaustion seems to have passed but the coughing has not. my throat does not feel sore until i cough, and very little mucus is coming up. ive tried everything from neo citron, nyquit, robitusson, buckleys, halls, cepacl, teas, honey, all these have either no effect of very short relief. is it possible i got some sort of infection? and should i wait longer or see a doctor now?

t feel the burning but stomach acid is still coming up and irritating your throat. This can lead to coughing. I get an annoying tickle and cough from reflux. I really hope you can talk to a doctor about this, I'm just a community memeber trying to offer some advice, but if it is as bothersome as you indicate, it may be worth a doctor's visit.
