Hi, I had a bacterial throat infection: including sore throat, fever, headache and body aches.....This was before x-mas, I was given Augmentin, which pretty much cleared it up, except my cough and congestion.... After x-mas The cough got worse and fevers, tongue ulcers and head and body aches came again, my Dr. said this time it's viral, so it would have run its coarse, it's been almost a month and still hasn't cleared up at all.
t taken any swabs (especially after 2 rounds of antibiotics) I would suggest one to them/see another doctor. Who knows, maybe you have a viral infection instead of bacterial; maybe the bacteria you are infected with is antibiotic resistant. Either way, hard to tell, and those are the only things I can suggest.. Maybe you should investigate some natural health remedies if you are worn out from medical doctors. Look online and see what remedies/treatments there are for sinus problems.
I am still trying to recover from viral infection. I thought that it was sinus infection. I was given Allegra but havent used it yet. Instead, I am using a nasal spray and just trying to do old fashioned remedies: humidifier, running hot showers to losen phlem. I have been sick for 6+ weeks now. Still feel terrible.
I have a ear infection caused by viral infection had sore throat N congestion which I now would trade for this awful ear infection which they put me on amoxicillin and claritin and told Me take tylenol for .. pink eye developed 2-3 days after started antibiotics which my doctor found strange I'm hoping it will clear fast BC didn't give me anything in addition for it and also got yeast infection from the antibiotics!!!!
Within hours I get sinus blocking then lots of green goobers from my throat the next day and if unlucky cold like symptoms for a day or three before it clears up, I jut take throat sweets and flu remedies. Having been together for many months I choose to avoid giving oral pleasure. Yes I know I should discuss it but in doing so I'd like to know what we should do next, is it the doctors, is it the pharmacy or is it a clinic?
Thanks! But today I'm feeling itchy throat. Is this somehow related to it? Is it possible to have symptoms this late? Do I need to get tested for it?

8 days ago I came down with a cold that turned into a sinus infection. Went to see the doctor today to see if it was viral or bacterial. Turns out it's viral, which means it's has to run its course.
I'm using natural remedies to alleviate this terrible congestion, including neti pot, saline spray, breathe right strips, vicks vapor rub, and hot showers.
A friend of mine told me to try boiling some Apple Cider Vinegar and inhaling the fumes to open yet sinuses.

Then most doctors will have you do comfort care for yourself while it gets better as most viruses will get better on their own. Take ibuprofen or acetaminiphen (if you don't have problems taking these), drink tea and gargle with salt water.
Hi, the symptoms described could be due to an infection, most probably streptococcal or a viral infection. Strep sore throat needs to be treated with an antibiotic as strep is a bacteria. Viral sore throat is best treated with rest, warm oral fluids and (OTC) tylenol (acetaminophen) or ibuprofen for pain.
The white patches have a cottage cheese appearance. They can occur as a consequence to throat infection or sometimes steroid inhalers are known to promote their growth. You need to consult your doctor for proper assessment. In the meantime you can try warm salt water gargles and betadine mouth washes.

He was recently hospitalized for a week as he is still weak, unable to walk, lost 13 pounds, dizzy, sore throat, nauseous and vision difficulties. All of the tests only told us what he does not have. He does have acid reflux and the doctors have put him on anti-anxiety meds. He seems to get worse every day. Ive been living with genital herpes for about two years now, and i recently have an infection in my throat that i think might tie to oral herpes. My symptoms started off as fever, chills, and body aches then my upper throat on the right side became very swollen and soar. im having diffulculties swallowing and its just super soar and painful. My doctor diagnosed me for pharyngitis eventhough i tested negative and the antibiotics arnt working. Could it be a herpes infection?
Usually antibiotics would get rid of it but only if it was a bacterial infection causing it. Viral infections cannot be treated with antibiotics. If the other ones are not swollen I wouldn't worry about them. I would though suggest going back and telling them that the antibiotics have not worked and have them due further testing on you.
He tested me for strep and found that it was not that, and my lymph nodes are not swollen for it to be mono. He said it was a viral infection that should last about three to four days. Anyway, the next day, I performed oral sex on my boyfriend. The day after that, I realized the infection had gotten even worse (at least to me). Could this have exacerbated the problem? Also, could this be something serious for me? Thank you all!
