Avatar m tn At 65 I was told I was "late" in getting BPH, but as anyone knows, better late but not better than never with this one. Anyway, I have tried Epsom Salt baths and UrinoZinc, as I did not like Tamsulosin at all. It made my breathing labored, and I don't like the idea of Retrograde Ejaculation. I have had painful external orgasms and urination, and although my enlargement is not that bad-the Urologist told me it was .5 and had others at 1 and 1.
Avatar m tn Abnormal ejaculation includes ejaculation failure, ejaculation disorder, retrograde ejaculation, and ejaculation decrease. You can consult your doctor and talk to him regarding decreasing the dose of Uromax or change to 5-alpha reductase inhibitors like Finasetride (Proscar) which can be used for BPH. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn i experienced what i think Retrograde ejaculation out of nowhere for the first time ever. I orgasmed and no semen came out for a few seconds, and then just a little bit came out after several seconds. It was slightly painful, and im nervous about it...can it cause serious problems? Can it possibly kill me? please let me know...thank you.
Avatar m tn - What else could be expected and eventually preventable? I have read about retrograde ejaculation, risk of stricture. Diet? Did you take supplements? Please share experience. Lessons learned (so far): • Research, look for experienced surgeon and ask opinions before deciding on the procedure. • Try to relax if you are anxious (easier said than done, I was given an anxiolitic after removal of the surgery cath).
Avatar m tn Retrograde ejaculation is very common. During ejaculation, the sphincter muscle closes forcing the ejaculate out the urethra. When this muscle weakens, many times the semen goes into the bladder. Unless you want children, there is no harm. When you void you will see the semen in the urine. If you want children, the semen can be removed from the urine. I hope this helps.
1580703 tn?1651904887 Hello, Every drug has its own side effects and Flomax (tamsulosin) is no exception. However it has been reported that treatment with FLOMAX capsules for up to 12 months had no significant effect on prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and does not effect prostate. It effect the vision and may cause blurred vision but that is found in only 0.2- 2% of the patients.
Avatar n tn Tansulosin rarely causes pain during ejaculation. “Tamsulosin may rarely cause a prolonged, painful erection. This could happen even when you are not having sex. If this is not treated right away, it could lead to permanent sexual problems such as impotence. Contact your doctor right away if this happens.” Refer: http://www.drugs.com/cdi/tamsulosin.html Please consult your doctor and ask for a change in prescription. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.
Avatar m tn My boyfriend had prostate surgery in 96 and has had retrograde ejaculation since. He still experiences orgasm, just without the ejaculation. And let me clarify...sometimes there is ejaculation - sometimes a normal amount, sometimes just a little but most of the time none. His trouble with the retrograde ejaculation s the mental part of feeling like he isn't completing.....for me. I keep telling him, it's not a problem for me...less mess! lol. But, I also understand....
Avatar m tn Flomax (tamsulosin) is a selective alpha blocker used for treating BPH. One of the side effects of this drug is retrograde ejaculation. Normally, the sphincter of the bladder contracts and the ejaculate goes to the urethra. But in retrograde ejaculation the sphincter does not function properly. Once you stop using this drug it’s effect on the sphincter also fades off. I would suggest that you visit your urologist and discuss the above mentioned possibility and follow his advise. Best.
Avatar m tn Hi there, It could be you had an episode of retrograde ejaculation. Retrograde ejaculation occurs when semen goes into the bladder instead of leaving the penis during ejaculation. During normal ejaculation, internal muscles, called spincters, close off the opening of the bladder to prevent semen from entering as it passes through the urethra.
Avatar m tn Thanks to colon surgery a few years back, I now suffer from retrograde ejaculation. I am trying to find anyone who has had this problem, and if you were able to correct it or not.
Avatar n tn Hello, Till the time you have Sildosin, retrograde ejaculation will persist. But this retrograde ejaculation is not permanent and should stop once you stop this drug. But due to retrograde ejaculation, fertility will be affected in the meantime. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn Hello, No release of semen can be due to aspermia or retrograde ejaculation. It may be due to inadequate production of semen or retrograde ejaculation when the semen goes into the bladder instead of out through the penis. Common cause of such symptoms are ejaculatory duct obstruction, diabetes, medications for treating high blood pressure, prostate enlargement and mood disorders, retrograde ejaculation, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury or seminal vesicle obstruction.
Avatar m tn I am using Flowmax (Tamsulosin) for about 3 months for enlarged prostate. I started noticing my Testicles hang lower now and not tight anymore since I have been using this medication.. Could this be from the use of Tamsulosin?
Avatar n tn The common side effects of Flomax are abnormal ejaculation patterns which include premature ejaculation, retrograde ejaculation etc. Withdrawal from Flomax can resume normal ejaculatory function. There are no studies supporting how much time it takes to resume normal ejaculatory function as it varies from patient to patient and is dose dependent. Consult a urologist for further assistance. Best.

Avatar f tn Retrograde ejaculation, turp, and BPH MAY affect fertility, but it may not. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/retrograde-ejaculation/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20354896 https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/transurethral-resection-of-the-prostate-turp/risks/ https://www.healthline.com/health/mens-health/retrograde-ejaculation The only way to know is to have your doctor check. If pregnancy is not desired by both of you, there is always emergency contraception.
Avatar n tn is this retrograde ejaculation permanent or will it go away eventually ? Question: After 1 month, can I resume strenuous exercise again ? Thanks for your help R.S.
Avatar m tn "This is completely normal ..there is no such thing like retrograde ejaculation as per my knowledge.." Wrong. http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/retrograde-ejaculation/basics/definition/con-20030795 Noah, it's unlikely that you are experiencing retrograde ejaculation, it's pretty uncommon, and usually isn't seen too much in young men, especially young men without some kind of history of a medical issue or surgery that would put you at risk for it.

Avatar m tn Diabetes can cause neuropathy of the bladder sphincter and hence retrogarde ejaculation. Retrograde ejaculation caused by diabetes or surgery may be improved with a medication that improves the muscle tone of the bladder neck. In addition he should control his blood sugar levels and do some kegel exercises to tone up the muscles.
Avatar m tn I'm 24 years old and I have what I believe is retrograde ejaculation. There has never been any ejaculation from me ever but sometimes after my urine is cloudy. I dont have diabetes so I'm not entirely sure why it is this way. My questions are, is there a way to fix this and if not, how will I be able to get someone pregnant if I'm able to at all?

Avatar n tn Hi there, “Sudsy” often indicates proteinuria. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) and retrograde ejaculation are commonest causes of this condition. During sexual arousal the prostate gland manufactures fluid that accounts for about 2/3 of the volume of ejaculate. The seminal vesicles are paired structures located behind the prostate gland that also manufacture fluid.
Avatar m tn Hi I recently started having retrograde ejaculation. I am 61 pre diabetic and have an enlarged prostate. My psa has been 1.2. I have been taking flow max for the past 3 years and had noticed a decrease in the amount of sperm but I always ejaculated. Recently I have had several dry orgasms. I have also experimented while taking flow max I have also tried taking Viagra and other times Cialas. Would taking both Flowmax and Cialas or Viagra be causing the retrograde.
Avatar n tn I think you are suffering from retrograde ejaculation and not premature ejaculation. Retrograde ejaculation is when semen goes into the bladder rather than out of your penis during orgasm. Although you still reach sexual climax, you may ejaculate very little or no semen (dry orgasm). Retrograde ejaculation isn't harmful, but it can cause fertility problems. It can be caused by medications, health conditions or surgeries that damage the nerves or muscles that control bladder opening.
