Avatar f tn OK HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH SYNTHROID? I HAVE BEEN ON 200 MCG FOR THE LAST 8 MONTHS AND HAS BEEN FINE, NOW MY THYROID IS ENLARGED AND MY TSH IS 12.8 AND T4 0.78. THEY DID AN ULTRASOUND BUT IT WILL BE FOUR WEEKS BEFORE THEY GET THE RESULTS BACK, THEY SENT IT TO A SURGEON TO READ, HOWEVER IN THE MEANTIME HE INCREASED MY DOSE TO 250MCG.
Avatar n tn Hi All, I was just wondering if anyone has been put on Iodine replacement after having your thyroid removed. My Dr. just put me on liquid Iodine and I had never heard of this.
Avatar f tn Had to giggle on your question you posted about not wanting pig thyroid and seeing your screen name GuineaPigs8. Sometimes the thyroid mind in me is just silly...... sorry Go to rx.com or drugs.
Avatar n tn I read your post to me about how you don't like block/replace therapy, and that you like MMI titration, what is that? HOw do you keep your patients from going hypo thyroid on only ATD's? and if they do go hypo, how do you help them if you don't use replacement? Also, does using ATD's burn out your thyroid? and does replacement burn out your thyroid? Do you consider 5mg of MMI to be a high dose of ATD?
1474133 tn?1287149045 Does this mean that I may have to look into Cytomel or some other FT3 replacement....or will an increase in Synthroid bring it up rather than down? Thanks for any input!
Avatar f tn I took Synthroid, and never had a problem. I felt great! I got off the BC pills 2 years ago, and all of a sudden, I am unable to tolerate my synthroid. Especially after ovulation! I become extremely stimulated by it, and can only take 1/4 of the pill at a time. It seems to get better when I approach ovulation, when my hormone levels are the highest. My ability to tolerate my synthroid seems to follow my menstural cycle. And I ovulate every OTHER month.
739097 tn?1232231492 s Disease. Unfortunately, I now have no thyroid gland and have to live with the replacement challenges. I was on Armour thyroid replacement but never could get adjusted to a normal state, I was either hypo or hyper never within a normal realm. Since 2006, I have recently been diagnosed with RA and a breast lesion. I've been told that Iodoral Iodine replacement is very helpful with Thyroid balance and fibrocystic breast disease.
Avatar m tn My 10 year old daughter has been on synthroid (100 mcg currently) for almost two years. She is 4"8" and around 100 lbs. Originally at the age of 8 she had started her period and I had taken her to her GP at this time we found out her TSH was 75. In the time that has passed we have reduced it to as low as 5.8 (Jan 2010) by increasing her dosage but it is starting to climb again, her latest test is 15.75 (Dec 2010).
280485 tn?1249013844 The question was about Synthroid. The answer was about T4 replacement drugs, which is levo in one form or another. I know fillers are a big issue, but I am not sure fillers are to blame for osteo-anything. Just my opinion. Not an opinion I am willing to defend.
Avatar f tn I have an auto immune disorder (Hashimotos) which directly affects the Thyroid. I take a low dose Synthroid to keep my Thyroid levels normal. The medication doesn't hurt the baby at all.
586140 tn?1219078962 for the last 5 yrs. On Synthroid and then diag. w/ papillary carsinoma. TT in april and back on Synthroid again. The pain is mostly in by shoulders and hands. It keeps me awake and have a constant need to move my legs. I am so stiff when I try to get up in the morning. No energy. Try to eat healthy and take calcim, Vit. D, Calcitrol, Synthroid, sleeping pills and antidepressants. Man. I'm tired.
Avatar f tn I have to have a hysterectomy in Feb. due to female issues. Will there be any issues for me taking Synthroid 200mcg & having to be placed on HRT ? My last ovary will have to come out. Any interaction between the two. My gyno says should not be any issues with the thyroid medication once she puts me on HRT.
Avatar m tn I recently was diagnosed as subclinical hypo (TSH 6.0) and given .25 mcg of synthroid. Since I have started taking it, I have had memory problems that I did not have before I went on it. I forget names and and words.
Avatar f tn Thyroid replacement hormone goes into your blood, and blood gets filtered. But if hormone got filtered out, you would die. The T4 (thyroxine) is changed to the active hormone T3 (triiodothyroninevia) mostly in the the liver and hypothalamus, and brain. This process is a called two deiodinases (or something like that)..... One atom of iodine is lost per molecule (deiodinated) - thus, the change from 4 to 3. T3 is absorbed into cell tissue via blood.
1019013 tn?1252002096 When I was tested, my PCP called me at home and changed my meds back to Synthroid on the spot. How do you feel about synthetic replacement versus natural replacement? Any time I mention a symptom to my doctor, I feel like he honestly thinks that I am a hypochondriac so I hate to even go in and see him---other docs do the same as well. I am a reasonably healthy 50 year old woman who just wants to feel good again. I know I can if I can just convince a doctor to really listen to me.
Avatar f tn I run upwards of anywhere from 10-18 miles a day and I am curious if this will be possible for me to do again as I have been told from other thyroid patients that being on synthroid has heart palpatations as a side effect.
Avatar f tn t been started on any thyroid hormone replacement drugs yet all they gave me was a calcium which I have to take 3000 mg a day, How long can I go without this hormone?
Avatar n tn I am very good about taking my meds and get my blood taken periodically to check TSH levels. I have been on .88 of synthroid now for the last 10 months. I recently went to my gyno and he took some blood to check my tsh because I was there. I usually go to another doctor but I let him take the blood. My results came back with a tsh of .12. They wanted to raise my synthroid to .1 . Shouldn't they want to lower the dosage? Thanks for listening.
Avatar n tn 93 which is on the lower side of normal. He wants to start me on synthroid and I am not symptomatic. I am worried that because my TSH is borderline low that I could become hyperthyroid if I start taking synthroid. Any comments would help.
Avatar f tn This of course stopped the production, so they started my on synthroid. For several months until 2006 I was being managed on synthroid, but things started acting within normal range, so they took me off for a period of one year. I went in found it was in the low range again, so back on to synthroid. The last visit showed I was within good ranges, but I was having sleeping issues as well as other issues, so the doc upped the dosage from 50mcg to 100mcg.
Avatar f tn Just wondering if anyone has switched from Synthyroid to a natural thyroid replacement, and if so, if you could share your experience if it was positive or negitive?
Avatar f tn Should a patient with ablated thyroid on synthroid take any sea kelp? I am currently taking supplements for hair replacement. I 'm not sure I should take the sea kelp.
Avatar m tn What sort of symptoms are you referring to with the Synthroid? It is more than likey to have been the Synthroid which helped shrink the goitre. You might find though that the goitre will return in a while. Ask your doctor to try you on a different form of thyroid replacement, and this will keep your goitre at bay for many years to come. Cheers.
Avatar m tn Goal for synthroid replacement with pituitary problem is keep T4 in mid-high normal range. TSH not reliable in this situation.
