Stress test heart valve

Common Questions and Answers about Stress test heart valve

stress-test

Avatar f tn My stress test was positive and t wave was inverted. Doc said nothing much to worry, sometimes it is false positive. And asked to get a sonography done anytime later nothing urgent.. Sonography overall summary was fine but in valve wise report, in one it said no significant regurgitation, in second, very low regurgitation and in the last one low regurgitation. I did not go too doc to show the report as it looked ok to me. Cholestrol is not in order. Should I worry about heart disease?
Avatar f tn An echo looks at the structure and function of the heart, whereas the stress test was looking for blockages causing your symptoms. Having a leaky valve can predispose to certain abnormal heart rhythms which may have caused your palpitations, weak heart muscle (AKA heart failure) can cause leg swelling and shortness of breath -- neither of these things are detectable with a treadmill stress test unless there was an echo done at the same time.
Avatar n tn I had a thalium treadmill stress test. They ended the test only 2 minutes into the test. They said my blood pressure went up and my heart rhythm spead up. I wanted to know how high my bp went up to and how fast my heart rate went up. It's the second test they cut short. I have 2 enlarged chambers (which two I don't know), a triscuspid leak, 2 little leaks in my mitral valve and the prolapse. What all does that mean? I'm 61 and have high bp and diabetes on insulin.
Avatar f tn When using EKG and blood pressure monitoring alone the test is variously called a cardiac stress test, exercise stress test, exercise treadmill test, exercise tolerance test, stress test or exercise ECG test. Heart rate, breathing, blood pressure, EKG, and how tired you feel are monitored during the test.
Avatar n tn for pre-testing for ablation scan showed alot of structual damage to the heart and my mitral valve has adhered to the back of my haert so they scrapped the ablation procedure because they said it wouldn`t improve my condition. My EF is 13-15 percent and my vo2 stress test came back with 14. Do you feel that I should be put on a transplant list if I qualify ?
Avatar m tn I am 61, female, had a stress test & reported diagnosis is "moderate inferior ischemia". What is the explanation (definition) of this diagnosis and what are most common treatment options/choices?
Avatar f tn I had the stress test done before my surgery. I could not cross the street without getting out of breath and having chest pain. I was unable to complete the test on the treadmill so they gave me drugs to increase my heart rate so that I could complete the test. You can ask them about it before you have the test.
Avatar m tn d pass a (nuclear) stress test (no blockage to heart muscles) and have a normal echocardiogram, albeit it the valve repair and enlarged left atrium would be noted (I get one of these every 3 years). I am considered to have heart disease but I have never been told I have ever had a "heart failure".
Avatar f tn HI I HAVE MITRIA VALVE PROLASE . DR. MIKE SEWELL SAYS IT HAS 50% REGERGATION BACK INTO MY HEART. THE PALPATATIONS AND FLUTTERS ARE BOTHERSOME . AT TIMES. I TAKE VERAPAMIL 180 AND TOPERAL 50MIL. EVERY NIGHT AND THEY HELP BUT I CAN TELL WHEN THEY WARE OFF. HE SAYS MY MITRAL VALVE DOSNT CLOSE. AND MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM GOES THROGH MY HEART INSTEAD OF AROUND IT LIKE IT IS SUPPOSE TO. WILL HE EVER NEED TO FIX IT SURGICAL ? . IT INHERITED IT FROM MY MOM WHO IS NOW DECEASED.
Avatar f tn I went to the heart doc today to get my results from an echocardiogram and my stress test. The stress test came back normal but he said looking at the echo results i had 2 small leakages in one of the valves. I dont know why, but i didnt even bother to ask him what this meant because he said it was nothing to worry about. can anyone tell me more about this and if it can get worse?
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if heart valve disease progresses regarding also reguritation and calcification?
Avatar n tn An echo is the best test for imaging blood flow through the heart valves. I saw my valve function during an echo...normal flow of blood is a red color and any back flow (leak) is color green, with doppler software. Trivial, mild, etc. leakage is not considered significant and almost never progresses nor cause any medical problems.
Avatar n tn Now they want to do a stress test on tredmill. If the EKG is positive, does this mean I DO have heart disease and possible leaky heart valve as I was told? I am 52 year old female who weights 340 lbs. I am very nervous now. I'm I really sick?
Avatar f tn The bicuspid valve is not replaced until there is evidence that valve narrowing is causing problems (elevated pressures on an ultrasound of the heart for example) or when symptoms develop that can be attributed to the narrowed valve. A nuclear stress test only rules out coronary artery blockages and does not show if there is significant aortic valve problems.
Avatar f tn Does having a 45% ejection fraction on the stress test means one has a heart disease? Other symptoms includes chest pain, SOB when climbing upstairs, nearly syncopal event every time SOB and tachycardia happens. Stress test showed severely tachycardic, nearly syncopal episode on exertion and 45% ejection fraction. Ecg showed Borderline left atrial abnormality and the echo, according to the readiologist, showed increased in bulk. (Which was neglected on the final report).
Avatar f tn t discuss were the other results listed which were mitral valve regurgitation, tricuspid valve disorder, diastolic dysfunction, RBBB, and IVCD. Are these of any significance?
Avatar m tn If it were serious, I would doubt you would have even had the excerise ekg. Could be a congenital heart defect or could be heart valve problem. Heart valve during excerise might show up looking different, so I would lean more to it being the heart valves or arteries. I would not worry now as it is just guessing. Schedule your follow up visit as soon as possible for if nothing else to put your mind at ease.
329165 tn?1515471990 I also believe it is never too late to get in condition (speaking of course to the living), but again the objective in a stress test is to run the exercise at a level that stresses the heart, elevates its rate. Thus a power runner is hard to stress test on a treadmill. The rest of us just walking at 4 mph on a steep grade will get our hearts up to maximum. The nuclear stress test I took about 6 months ago was done without the benefit of my beta blocker.
Avatar n tn I had and Echo Stress test 10 yrs ago after taking the diet drug Redux. It showed FDA positive for Aortic Regurgitation and tri-cuspid valve damage as well. Just did another stress echo about a months ago. Showed no AV regurgitaion but still tri-cuspid damage along with LV hypertrophy. How is this possible?
Avatar f tn I had a nuclear stress test & they found "mild ischemia in the inferior apical area" with an ejection fraction of 75%-I am symptomatic with angina and SOB & take toprol xl and imdur but still have some symptoms-what does the stress test mean in laymans terms-thanks
Avatar m tn I have check-ups every year with the cardiologist and have been told that the mechanical valve can act as an irritant to the heart and can cause PVCs etc. These, for me, are all normal. I really live a normal life and am not restricted in any way. I'm not sure what type of valve you received but try not to let worry rule your life. Are you under a cardiologists care? If not, find a good cardiologist and let him put your mind at ease.
