Common Questions and Answers about Stomach cancer terminal

Avatar n tn re facing this now. My Dad is in the same position (obviously not ovarian cancer but cancer all through his body). The hospice nurse and volunteers are terrific. My Dad's hospice nurse will do whatever it takes to keep him comfortable and drugs are the number one defense. My Dad is groggy and falls asleep all the time from the meds but that's OK. Hospice usually sends a volunteer to your house to sit for 4 hours so you can get out and do errands or just unwind.
Avatar f tn t necessarily mean terminal but the prognosis is not good. They will probably surgically remove the cancer and give rounds of chemo and hopefully she will respond well to this. She is in for a rough road. It is going to be a "wait and see" situation. It is good she has your support; she will need alots of it. Keep us posted.
Avatar m tn I had surgery in 2005 for rectal cancer and have a colostmy bag. Now 3 years later everything had been clear but last week Dr. said disease had come back and probably had 2 years (outside) to live. How can it go from disease free to terminal in just a couple of months?? This discussion is related to Colon Cancer - Please Help!.
Avatar m tn He had Stomach, Lymph and now Lung cancer, which doctors have said they cannot operate on. he was having a mix of Chemo and Radio in a field study during his first illness, and because of this scanned him very early in remission which found the Lymph Cancer. my family arent exactly open about it, and i feel stupid talking and asking about it sometimes being in a family thats mainly women, i feel i've taken it harder as he's the male influence in my life if that makes sense?
Avatar n tn Nope, inflammation anywhere in the small intestine can cause nausea, no appetite and weight loss. The large bowel is where most of the "water" is extracted from the stool as it passes thru. Stool enters the colon (large bowel) as a "slime" called chyme. The last 3 feet of the small intestine, referred to as the terminal ileum, is where most of the bile from the gall bladder used to digest food thru the small intestine is removed.
Avatar n tn while the cloudy vision is unlikely to be related and would require an evaluation by an ophthalmologist to consider issues such as refractive errors, infections, increased eye pressure etc. This does not sound like cancer/ terminal illness. If the eye ointment doesn’t seem to help you may consider a review with his treating doctor. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn a slightly thickened wall. This is probably the terminal ileum and is incompletely distended. Also a few mildly prominent mesenteric lymph nodes. And atelectasis in the right lung. Could.this mean cancer?
Avatar f tn I was recently hospitalized for liver failure and found out it was due to Hep C. With treatment, the virus can go into remission. It is a terminal disease the same as cancer, and like cancer CAN sometimes with therapy, be thrown into "remission". This I knew. But my question is the same as the one above, asking if the virus is contagious while in "remission".
Avatar f tn No special knowledge, but no doctor can really tell you if cancer is terminal or not unless it's been around for a long time and the person is clearly dying. Cancer can be a disease people can live with a long time before it kills someone, or it can be quick, but I doubt docs can necessarily tell. Some people are very strong and others aren't.
Avatar n tn I found an excellent website where you make find a good answer. http://en.allexperts.com/q/Life-Support-Issues-2065/Dying-Liver-Cancer.htm There are so many extenuating factors, it is difficult to put a number on it. I, too, read that prognoses are rarely good. But treatments are improving all the time. My father is terminal with liver cancer that metastasized from the colon. He has "been given" two months, but that really isn't for us to say, is it?
554628 tn?1362777919 well for the past 5 months he has been complaining of sharp pains in his stomach and the doctors kept telling him it was side effects from his meds and the chemo from previous well he finally got them to run some tests and his stomach and small intestines are full of cancer. they then had to drain his stomach bc it was so swollen. they are giving him 2 months at best to live. i am praying for a miracle. he is 6foot 7in tall and only weighs in at 149pounds it's sad.
Avatar m tn In October dizziness came 24/7 with diarrhea and stomach pain (I thought i had pancreatic cancer[most of the time], stomach cancer, esophagus cancer). by that time i had already visited the doctor about 3 times and gone to hospital emergency room and they all said anxiety. By the end of November I was more convinced that it really was anxiety and i was starting to get better...like the sun was shining on me again....
Avatar n tn t until March that it was diagonised as Cancer (aggressive cancer) - in the meantime she had to have a gall bladder operation. She had 2 rounds of the strongest possible Chemo and now we are told Chemo can no longer continue, they cannot operate and she has 3-6 months to live. Please help me understand what is in store for my sister - her children are aged between 11 - 26. We will care for her but the information has not been forthcoming as to what to expect.
Avatar n tn My 7 year old neutured poodle has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. It has also spread to his bladder and kidneys. The prognosis is "how much time does he have left". There is no treatment available. Is there anyway we can ease his pain during his last time? Thank you.
Avatar f tn My mother and an Aunt had died of Terminal Brain Cancer, I know my mother had a Glioma can not recall the exact name of the type of Glioma: But when she was diagnosed she was/ had Stage 4 Cancer : Is Brain Cancer hereditary? I am not going to worry about this until I have the results, but would like clarification in regards to this.
Avatar n tn The pathology report is way to vague. How can you say she is terminal ? If she has ovarian cancer she should be staged and then given chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is not like it was in the past. They have all kinds of drugs to help with side effects if they arise. If she can't be staged then you must find out what type of cancer to treat appropriately. She could have a remission.
1013036 tn?1250921667 My 85-year-old mom has been given a terminal diagnosis because her uterine cancer, diagnosed in April, has now metastasized to the abdominal area. She is bloated beyond belief and is so very uncomfortable. She looks as if she is six months pregnant. Does anyone know if it is possible to drain her stomach? She is constipated as well. Please help. We are doing all we can to try to make her as comfortable as possible.

Avatar m tn Hi everyone. I just wanted an opinion if possible? Basically i suffer from severe health anxiety and about 4 years ago i was worried about bowel cancer after having an episode of "soft" stools on a morning. I went to three doctors who all said anxiety based - there were no other symptoms and they refused any further tests. I then went private and (although i am ashamed to admit it) exaggerated my symptoms to the GI specialist who in the end agreed to do a colonoscopy.
Avatar n tn I just joined the forum and I was reading in the expert forum archives when I found a comment from Dr. HHH saying the an ELISA test after 3 months is 100% relaible unless you have terminal cancer, chemo theraopy and that no other medical condition can effect the test. What does "terminal cancer" mean? I suffer from Sjogren's Syndrome would this medical condition which is an autoimmune disease effect the result of my test? my test was more than 18 weeks past exposure.
Avatar f tn hi can u clear this up with me please? does having a terminal illness such as cancer slow down the process of antibodies building up, or is it the chemo therapy that slow it down. and yes i have passed the window period 4 months after possible exposure, but i was concerned as im waiting on test results from pap. which is why that question was so important for me to ask. because in that case i would have to wait a bit longer to re test for h i v dont i?
1751415 tn?1315069443 My mother has terminal cancer and was told she would not last past six months. Just recently she has started gangrene on her left foot. All her toes are now black and the bottom of her heel is staring to color as well. They will not amputate because it would kill her, plus her terminal cancer. My question is, I was told she would probably die from the gangrene before her cancer. How long do I have with her at this stage of the gangrene. You can email me at jhonmichaelangulo1@gmail.

Avatar f tn Hi my motherinlaw has finished chemo in August and they are not giving anymore she is receiving pallative care and the district nurses are going to see her once a month waiting on Marie Curie nurses getting back to us.
Avatar f tn I am a 14 year old female who struggles with anxiety and depression. I do have a lot of panic attacks, but this time I'm thinking it could be serious. I'm not going as far as to say I'm gonna die in two minutes... No. I'm serious. For the past year and a half I've been having very dense, thick breasts... My pores have been enlarged and there are little white hairs coming from them. I can easily pull our the hairs as well.
