Avatar f tn Is it ok to drink slim fast while pregnant? I have gained too much weight so far. I started out tiny and now my mid section is huge! I'm not looking to lose weight but eating hurts. My lower back is in excruciating pain and I know it's from the weight gain and due to my belly sticking so far out. I'm only 25 weeks pregnant and I feel the only option is to eat tiny meals to keep up my energy because after I eat my stomach feels so tight b it just hurts.

I think the high protein in the shakes helps with that, too. One thing that really appeals to me is that often I don't have the appetite or time to have a meal for breakfast or lunch, so this is quick and not much to consume. It's great also for teaching temperance and self-control.
Avatar f tn another thing that helps me make it between meals is to make a slim fast shake. they are meant to replace meals so they have lots of protein and other nutrients. it helps me make it from lunch to dinner and then often I eat less at dinner because I'm still full!

Now I went to the plasma center my protein levels were high so I couldn't give blood. They say my protein was high because fatty foods. Is this reason I feel tired and don't have regular periods, breast milk dried?

Avatar f tn Aw, I'm so sorry you're feeling this way. I, too, have chronic pain and have had it for over 20 years. I won't lie to you and say it'll get any better, unless you're on some awesome pain meds, of course, or you get that miracle blessing of it totally disappearing!
1968463 tn?1374757813 What I may do, is just make sure to also eat small meals with my meds. Or, I can do what I know works....slim fast shakes two times a day and good sensibel meal for dinnner. I honestly think that it is more the feeling bad and not being as active as normal that has me gaining weight. i just dont think that I want to go so extreme while dealing with everything else I have going on. I think that it would just be impossible for me too do anyway.
Avatar f tn Welcome to the community. Try walking at a reasonable pace. Also look into yoga as it's low impact and done at a slow very deliberate pace. Be sure to watch what you eat as well - might also help the e-coli infection.

Even Adkin's was NOT high protein. I never go over 50-60 gr..and eat a mostly plant based very mod protein diet…and am well educated before I began the diet/WOE..sugar has been my problem..eliminating processed foods changed so much for the better. Avatar f tn No, I don't think it will affect kidney stones, but.. Slim fast has horrible ingredients, and I would not feed it to my dog. From their website, they list Hydrogenated soybean oil, High Fructose Corn syrup, etc. Soybean oil will make you fat, and so will high fructose corn syrup.Suffice to say, stay away from Slim Fast! Eat whole foods instead. At best, these drinks may cause rapid weight loss, but they are not healthy and usually the weight comes back later.
Avatar f tn I typically run high protein and have perfect uneventful pregnancies otherwise. (Just delivered Thurs). There can be many factors, but for me it was just my diet. In general I am a big meat, bean, all around protein eater and my body stores it longer, or digests it slower. So they will just watch and make sure it isnt something else causing it and if it levels out they'll make sure it isnt causing any other issues.

I started on a stringent diet of Slim Fast for every meal 5 months ago, yes I eat every now and again to keep from starving to death but on the whole its SF 3 x a day. I have been working out (elliptical) 40 minutes a day M-F for about a month. I am still gaining weight.

1735424 tn?1357433558 I am on week 13 of tx, and 5 weeks with Vic. My white blood count dropped pretty fast, so that I was on weekly Neupogen injections by week 5. The doc said I had an excellent response to Interferon apparently. My hemoglobin started at 14 and by week 12 was down to 10. The doc just reduced my Riba from 1000 mg to 800. I weigh 143 so am right at the borderline and am okay with the reduction as I am past week 12 and have been UND since week 7.
Avatar n tn I am thinking about cutting carbohydrates out of my diet and have a high protein diet, eating lots of fruit and vegetables which is what a lot of athletes do. Does it work? I hope it is possable to get rid of fat and build up muscle :( Any advice welcome !!!

Avatar f tn Two common categories of insulinogenic foods are (1) simple carbohydrates (the white stuff like flour, rice, pasta, sugar, potatoes, crackers, bread, etc and (2) low fat protein (like chicken breast, egg whites, milk whey protein, etc). If you eat high proportion of food in your meals from either (1) and/or (2), you will induce high levels of secretion of insulin into your blood, making them cycle up and then plummet low.
