Avatar f tn Is it ok to drink slim fast while pregnant? I have gained too much weight so far. I started out tiny and now my mid section is huge! I'm not looking to lose weight but eating hurts. My lower back is in excruciating pain and I know it's from the weight gain and due to my belly sticking so far out. I'm only 25 weeks pregnant and I feel the only option is to eat tiny meals to keep up my energy because after I eat my stomach feels so tight b it just hurts.

Now I went to the plasma center my protein levels were high so I couldn't give blood. They say my protein was high because fatty foods. Is this reason I feel tired and don't have regular periods, breast milk dried?

Avatar f tn Food, in other words, is way more complex than any diet recognizes but if you want to do low carb eat high protein foods. These would include, again, nuts, seeds, legumes, and animal foods.
1968463 tn?1374757813 Actually, I have tried a LOT of different fasts over the years, and the most comfortable and most effective I've ever done is the "lemonade fast", or "lemonade diet." You can google it and get the recipe...It's amazing, and weight comes off really fast. I have a low blood sugar problem, but did not have problems on this fast.
Avatar n tn I am thinking about cutting carbohydrates out of my diet and have a high protein diet, eating lots of fruit and vegetables which is what a lot of athletes do. Does it work? I hope it is possable to get rid of fat and build up muscle :( Any advice welcome !!!

Avatar f tn Hi you ASSUME I don't know how to eat LC? OR you don't know that LCHF is NOT high protein…., bad PR and general ignorance by those AntiLC usually CLAIM it is high protein. Even Adkin's was NOT high protein. I never go over 50-60 gr..and eat a mostly plant based very mod protein diet…and am well educated before I began the diet/WOE..sugar has been my problem..eliminating processed foods changed so much for the better. If you mean gaining weight previously..yes, my bad!! but..

Avatar n tn Here's my take, for what it's worth. Calories aren't a very good guide to weight -- they're a factor but how you metabolize your food is more important. Also realize that most of the people in the world who have been studied for having the healthiest lives eat a lot of carbs -- they aren't on high protein diets. We all know that vegetables are the healthiest foods and should make up the largest portion of our diets, but they are all carbs.

Avatar f tn I typically run high protein and have perfect uneventful pregnancies otherwise. (Just delivered Thurs). There can be many factors, but for me it was just my diet. In general I am a big meat, bean, all around protein eater and my body stores it longer, or digests it slower. So they will just watch and make sure it isnt something else causing it and if it levels out they'll make sure it isnt causing any other issues.

Avatar f tn None of the pills work. Some are even so dangerous, they can kill. There is no way to loose weight fast. The faster you loose weight, the faster and the more will be back on your hips. The only way to loose weight effectively is to do it slow, and to make changes to your diet for life. There are several approaches to do this, my favourite is: think of how much you are willing to change. Make your own short term goals, which are achievable, like 3 kgs lost by the first monday next month.
Avatar f tn As far as fruits consummation goes, recommend eating only fresh fruit (avoid fruit juices) and eat fruits within a meals or with a protein source. That will help decrease the fast absorption of fruit natural sugar so the sugar levels in the blood do not spike up. Hoped this helped you.

Avatar f tn I suggest not doing the 500 cal. diet!! How much protein do you REALLY need? First of all, protein itself is vital to living. In fact, you could go months, even years without eating carbs (NOT recommended - of course), and still survive and keep on living. But if you eliminate protein, it would only take a few weeks before your muscles would atrophy (shrink drastically) and your internal organs would literally start to deteriorate. So, you would start to die.

There are a few recipes on his website. Right now I am using the Ultimate Breakfast Smoothie. It tastes awesome and it actually keeps me full for over 6 hours. I have zero cravings for food and sweets. I've cut back my dinner portion.

I started on a stringent diet of Slim Fast for every meal 5 months ago, yes I eat every now and again to keep from starving to death but on the whole its SF 3 x a day. I have been working out (elliptical) 40 minutes a day M-F for about a month. I am still gaining weight.
