seroquel off patent

How can I safely-effectively wean myself off of Seroquel especially and at a later date topomax. I have put on 25 lbs. over 10 years and the Seroquel knocks me out at night and I feel groggy the next morning. 200 mg at night. I've lowered it to 100 mg each night this past week. I hope to do this for one month and see how it goes. My husband and I both dispute the bi-polar diagnosis of 10 years ago; not out of denial (as we are both very educated) but because of the symptoms.

Phenytoin (Dilantin et al) works best with me. It's off patent and about 70 years on the market. Low doses best. These repetitive thoughts are a brain electrical problem (inappropriate electrical activity), and while not as intense a problem as epilepsy, they can be treated the same way. I take 50 - 100 mg as a dose and it smoothes those intrusions and does NOT make me tired or have noticeable side effects except feeling normal.

I won't say don't take the antipsychotic, but I will say that you need to have a more complete discussion with your pdoc. Make sure you do some research going in. Crazymeds (google it) is a good site. They tend to lean towards the medication side of things but are very honest about side effects. There is a lot of information through google but none of it very useful.

I know for a fact that the zyprexa causes drowsiness. I have been on 10mg for over a year and it makes me sleep well through the night and into the morning. I'm not sure about the other drug, but the one thing I am sure of is don't let him just get off the zyprexa "cold turkey"!!! Read on here under zyprexa withdrawls about what most of us feel when we are coming off of this drug. You will be surprised on what it does to someone's well being....

Iam on seroquel and Iam coming off of it and iam on 400mg and once i take it iam out like a light and i canlt hear anything for the night and iam having a trouble waking up in the morning and iam feeling not to good my doctor is lowering them doese by doese but there has been times i havent been taking them at all and then i take them and when i do i feel really bad after that and i need get off of them because they have made me gain wieght and iam getting more sleep then i should be have been o

Have u tried Zoloft, or Seroquel? those are a bit easier to wean off of.

My psychiatrist told me that the sedative effect of seroquel peaks at 100mg and after that it wears off. I am on 600mg, and although it has worn off somewhat I still feel lethargic from it. It would not be top of my list of choices for a sleep aid, and I would certainly try other medications first.

I was taking Seroquel for 4 years I was taking it for sleep. I have not been going through withdrawal for about 45 days I am taking two 6.25 and 1/2 mg of Ambien and it's not working I sleep for about 4 hours a night. I was giving this medication strictly for sleep I had no clue it was for other things until another doctor told me. I was taking only 50 mg and I cut it down to 25 myself because I was trying to get off of it I don't really like taking drugs.

Anyone ever taken geodon with serequel?( rapid weight gain Being wean off geodon from 80 twice a day now 40 twice a day. If I stop taking geodon will I be able to lose weight? Do serequel cause weight gain? (200 at bed time) It sure helps me sleep.Dr will replace geodon with Lamictal and tompamax. Thanks for any feed back.

i have recently got off seroquel for anxiety and i have been off of it for 4 days now and i am itchy, i am having depressed phases, i am very nauseous when does this go away before the 50mgxr i was on 100mg that was 2 weeks ago should i take another pill or just stop like i have been doing?

I am confused. Anyway he said we would start off with one withdrawl of the seroquel xr that I take to sleep -it is at 150mg. He would like me to tonight to take the Trazadone at 75mg and if i don't fall asleep in a half hour then take the other half. The next night take the seroquel and do this every other day for about 5-7 days then drop the seroquel xr. Anyone have any feedback. I still don't feel comfortable. Shouldn't he just lower the dose.... THanks.

I stopped taking seroquel almost two weeks ago after tapering off and my sleeping problems are back. I took 200 mg a day and was sedated, and now I am energetic yet soon to go bonkers. I sleep for 4 hours every night and then I am up and running. This is effecting my stability, and I don't know what to do. It isn;t a life or death situation but I am afraid it will persist. I am on lithium and am trying to keep off sedatives, but I am prescribed imovane as well- if need be.

Did he titrate down on seroquel? My son took that medication at a low dose for about 2 months. Will say he had no issue when coming off of it. The question perhaps is if your husband is having a resurgence of mental health issues even including a brief bit of psychosis related to his ptsd? Did he begin any therapy for ptsd? My son had psychosis with his depression for a period of about 5 months.

I have been prescribed seroquel "off-label" for sleep for a long time, but I dont like being on it because it really is powerful like being hit with a jackhammer and is hard to shake off the next day. It has a hangover effect. But it is the only thing that has worked for me with my sleep problems thus i have stayed on it. Also the side effects of weight gain and some other negative side effects are the reason I would love to get off of it.

I have used Seroquel but had to get off because it caused a psychiotic episode. The doctors gradually took me off. I couldn't tell you how that went because I was so out of it because of the Seroquel. I have gotten off other meds and as long as you come off gradually you should be fine. I am on Trazodone 100mg and it works great for me. I have been on it for 4 years and it works as well now as then. Good luck and take care. Smileyhappy.
