seroquel

Hello and hope you are doing well. Rarely nocturia, polyuria and acute kidney failure have been reported with Seroquel usage. Besides which it is known to cause hypotension and congestive heart failure, which could lead to an acute episode of renal failure. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
These meds are cleared by both the liver and the kidneys, without any problems unless you have HepC or already have liver or kidney failure. In that case they would have to lower the quantity you took each day. My guess is they probably do blood work on you one a year just to check how things are going overall. One warning I can give you is to never stop these meds suddenly or you will be hating life. Never, ever change your meds without your doctors direction.

Seroquel is not approved here as along term maintenance drug and she has suggested either valproate or olanzapine as I can't take Lithium because of blood pressure issues and a possibility of kidney failure. I am very sensitive to drugs and usually take the lowest does possible as I get all the rare side effects. I only take 50mg of Seroquel and thats enough to bring me down. She told me to look up info on the drugs and we'll discuss which one at our next meeting.
He's now on Lamictal, Depakote, and Seroquel and that seems to work pretty good. He ended up having Kidney failure 6 months after the Lithium deal.. and the Lithium had been stopped. Everyone tells me his kidneys is a family trait problem and not the Lithium, but I still can't help but wonder if it had something to do with it. I don't think it CAUSED it, but I think it really helped the kidney disease along. Best of Luck to you, and follow your thinking. If it don't feel right....
The Nephrologist ruled out kidney stones, narrowing of arteries in my kidneys, kidney infection, kidney failure, etc. i had xrays before and after I saw her and they never showed any stones or blockages. My CT also did not show any stones. I do not take any aspirin whatsoever. I used to take aspirin when i was a baby for my JRA but have not taken any aspirin since gosh probably since i was 10.
FORGOT TO POST MY QUESTION...I AM CURRENTLY TAKING SEROQUEL TO SLEEP AT NIGHT. I READ SOMEWHERE ON THIS SITE THAT SEROQUEL MAY CAUSE HEPATITIC SOMETHING OR OTHER IN 15% OF THE PEOPLE THAT TAKE. I DEFINETLY NEED SOMETHING TO SLEEP BUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT. I ASKED MY GI AND HE SAID SEROQUEL WAS FINE BUT....I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE TAKING SEROQUEL ANYMORE. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF ANYTHING I COULD TAKE TO SLEEP? I'VE TRIED TRAZADONE BUT THAT CAUSED ALOT OF SWELLING. ANY ADVISE? I KNOW THIS IS NOT A DR.
so sorry I missed this post :) the time it takes to progress between stages has a lot of variation. Mainly it depends on the underlying cause of the ckd and if this can be managed. generally, I was told, that progression through early to mid stages can be many many years (or rapid) however, the further they do deteriorate the faster it tends to progress. this is because the remaining filters are under extra strain.
Hi To be or not to be, lithium is not the only question, others question are to be asked. Whether it's the mania mainly which it's your concern or the depression. Lithium is good for mania only (sorry to say that) though some argue that it's good also based on the fact that it's the first and only and 1st line mood stabilizer. Indeed along with the other famous 2 depakote and tegretol are the most acknowledged 3 MS since 40 years almost now (lithium manufactured 60 years ago commercially).
There has not been a single treatment that has worked as well as Niacin for me (I have been searching for the correct treatment as soon as I started experiencing more serious symptoms, and the treatments I have tried unsuccessfully are lithium, seroquel, and paxil). Olanzapine seems to have a positive impact on me and I continue to take it as hopefully a preventative measure.
A high PTH level along with a high calcium level can cause problems such as osteoporosis, kidney stones, hypertension, kidney failure, peptic ulcer disease, cognitive changes, and problems with the balance of water in the body. About half of all people who have high levels of PTH and normal calcium in the blood need treatment to correct the abnormal levels.
This helps loosen the pericardium's tight hold around the heart and allows the heart to pump more effectively There is also a noninfectious pericarditis that can be caused by disease of the underlying heart muscle, injury, cancer, and other diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, medications (minoxidil, penicillin), lupus erythematosus, and kidney failure. The inflammation may cause a thickening and roughening of the membrane and an accumulation of fluid in the sac surrounding the heart.
Been on lithium for 6 yrs and have gained 40 lbs. Now I have stage 3 kidney failure and need to switch to another med. I was slim all my life until lithium, but it did work the best for me.
The symptoms of swelling weakness and pale gray complexion could signify heart problems such as congestive heart failure. the symptoms of left eyed blurred vision, 'droopy' face, clumsy hands dropping objects sounds like stroke symptoms. The symptoms of irritability, blackouts, incontinence of bowel and bladder with memory loss suggest possible seizures. I would suggest that you take your husband to a major academic neurology center so that he can be worked up.
6 yrs ago I came down with meningitis, with complications like coma, septic shock, kidney failure, etc. I have recovered for the most part, however have some permanent kidney damage, some hearing loss, some nerve and cirulatory damage in digits and limbs, but one thing that has worsened with time is my inability to sleep to the point where I can go without for many days, unless I use very specific medication. Only 1 type of medication works, and I develop a tolerance to it after regular useage.
(i was wheezing) I was 348 #'s at my highest weight and have always had some trouble with swelling, but it seems to have escalated with the geodone, artane, and tegretol. (I was on seroquel and abilify before that) I lost weight because I have bulimia and I also did some healthy changes at the same time (eating healthy foods that i would keep, exercising etc) I got down to 223 #'s. Then I had a mental breakdown and was put on some medications.

I'm trying to stay positive, but one minute I'm ok (sort of) then the next breath, I feel like ODing and be done with it all, but know that's not the answer, and might not even work and I could be left brain damaged, kidney failure, liver damage etc, so NO, of course I can't do anything like that. I don't want to, as I still have some hope left in me.
I plan to ask the doc what his ammonia level is tomarrow, he's having a lot of difficulty staying focused. I've seen end stage liver failure and the hepatic encephalopathy. It really scares me.

I found Lamictal to be a godsend to even out my moods, and I'm not bi-polar - but there are side effects, and not everyone can take it because in a small percentage of people it can cause Stevens Johnson syndrome. I tried 25 mg Seroquel during my periods, and it evened me out, but was too sedating. You and your doctor will find the right combo with some experimenting. So don't let that keep you from trying Topomax - worst thing that can happen is you don't like it and quit.
