Avatar n tn I am very sorry your baby nephew is having these problems at such a young age. I don't really understand about being a 'blue baby' although my half sister was one. From what i have learned thru the years, it happens because of the mother and father's blood not being able to mix very well which produces a 'blue baby'. Click on the link below. It will give you helpful information to better understand the pulmonary problems. (Pulmonary is a major artery in the heart).
Avatar f tn I took my 4 week old to the ER and they told me he has RSV. They just gave me a paper on it, They didn't really tell me what to do except suction out his nose. I read the paper ad it told me that in mild disease that no specific treatment is necessary. So I guess he is only a mild case, but I don't know how to tell if he is getting worse. I read on another site that family history of asthma puts him at a higher risk for becoming a severe case. I am know wen he is getting worse?
Avatar f tn RSV is a resportory disease that starts as a common cold and then starts to shot down the resportory system very scary. We finally found out what it was that my daughter had. She had strep in the stomach and intestines. Instead of the strep staying in her throat she swallowed it. She got worse that ever after I posted this, so I brought her to a different hospital and they figured it out. thanks for responding.
Avatar n tn you also might want to ask your cardiologist or primary doctor about if your little one should recieve the synagis vaccine. this is to help lesson the effects of RSV (this is a viral infection) most kids can fight it off, if they are healthy to begin with. i am not sure if your little one would qualify. I wouldn't see why not. this infection from what I was toldif it affects newborns who are premmeis have a heart condition, lung issues and a low immune system.

593530 tn?1263847957 I brought Brody to his pediatrician last week because he was very congested. After a nose swab was tested it was determined that he has RSV. Since it's a virus it can't be treated with antibiotics, so she instructed me to get a cool mist humidifier and keep his nasal pasages clear by using saline solution. The only symptom he's had is the congestion. There's no fever, coughing, mucous coming out, etc.
1368291 tn?1299629804 Saturday he was having lots of nasal congestion and coughing so I took him to the ER. He tested positive for RSV so the last few days have been scary. We are doing a cool mist humidifier with eucalyptus oil at night, albuterol breathing treatments and keeping his nose suctioned out. I hope he gets better soon but I did learn that apparently you cant trust family to let you know...
Avatar n tn Thank so much for taking the time and sharing information, information, I may add, that I have kind of pushed to the back of my brain. Your answer, with explanations, leads me to believe that you may be in the medical profession. With that being said, I will address my issue with my doctor. I have been putting off my physical, but, am making my appointment now, or I will continue to put it off. Just as a side note, I procrastinate with my own health issues, since losing my daughter.
Avatar f tn I went to my 18 wk sonogram yesterdayand told doc my 14 month old has rsv. A respitory virus and that now i have cold like symptoms and a rash on my face. She said i coukd have parvo and they drew blood to find out for sure but i don't have results yet. She says my baby can become anemic and can need a blood transfusion while in the womb. I am so terrified.
Avatar f tn Neg strep and throat culture. I do not think this is viral related. We will be see a infectious disease doctor soon but the wait is awful.
1347128 tn?1333810296 My 3 month baby had RSV when he was 6 weeks old, but since then, he has a phlegm sound, that is always there.
Avatar f tn He has always been a little snorty/congested, but when he got a mild case of RSV in February the runny nose never seemed to go away. I have taken him to several allergists. He did have the skin test which came back negative. One doc. said he needed to be treated for nasal infections (each test seemed to show a different bacteria) but after several rounds of different antibiotics I didn't feel comfortable and left that doc.
Avatar m tn Hi, are you sure you mentioned the laboratory attendant to do a HIV test? RSV ( Respiratory synctial virus) is an antibody test that detects antibodies against RSV virus thats related to a respiratory infection. Lets wait till other experts comment on your query.
1346146 tn?1299360497 Well Lauren has rsv! My pedi also said adults can get it to!?!? Didn't know that. I guess that explains this cold type stuff I have. So she is on breathing treatments. We caught it early enough so hopefully it wont be so bad. Dh is also sick, my oldest son broke his foot last week at school and is in a nonwalking cast, and Lauren also bit my left breast last week while nursing and it's infected so im on antibiotics and she can't nurse from that side!
377012 tn?1283965435 (crying all night) so i left out some info! in Oct. he was diagnosed with RSV and then again at the end of Nov.-first of Dec. he had it again! unfortunately RSV can take up to 8 weeks before it is released from your system hence why he had it twice in 2 months....the reason i thought it could be pneumonia is because of the way is chest moves when he breathes and because RSV can cause pneumonia to be set up in your system since your system is low especially in toddlers!
Avatar f tn my baby has RSV. I felt sick a little before we found out she had it and then a cople days later I got a cold do you think that could be it? and thank you.
Avatar f tn He has pneumonia every other month (since birth), he has also had bronchiolitis (without RSV), bronchitis, H1N1, and most currently RSV. When he was two we removed his tonsil and adenoids in hopes to help his asthma symptoms. While it did decrease the amount of sinus infections he had, it did nothing to help any other area. He is on Advair, 115/21 two puffs twice daily, and Allegra (for unknown allergies).
Avatar f tn also I was wondering if there is something that brings this on, or is it just hereditary? My sister has graves disease and has had her thyroid removed , that was 40 years ago. My mother also have thyroid problems. I just want to feel like I am not hungover everyday, have some energy and enjoy life again. thanks for your help Free T4 15.6 10.5-20.0 pmol/L Free T3 4.0 3.5-6.

Avatar f tn About ten yrs ago I was told my geographical tongue is a symptom from my liver disease I would like a second opinion to be sure and some opinions from other people with the same disease/cares for people with the same disease type True?
Avatar f tn Food sensitivities or Celiac disease or constipation or sinusitis, dental issues, or vasculitis are all things to get ruled out.
Avatar f tn m not sure if this has anything to do with it but I was born a month premature, had the RSV virus, have a history of febrile seizures(not since I was like 3) , have a history of heart disease and high blood pressure in my family, history of cancer and diabetes. I don't have the best eating habits now but thats not due to any sort of eating disorder(bulimia or anorexia) I never was able to eat a lot and if I did I would vomit it up.
