Avatar f tn My four year old grandchild/fosterchild has been to the doctor and now take meds for ADHD. Frist was riddelen that did not work at all. New medication is Risperidone. No change has been noticed. This child before meds was pooping and peeing on her bedroom floor and even after meds. Im at my end and dont understand this kind of behavior.
Avatar f tn While yes, weight gain appears to lesser of the problems she is facing, I cannot suggest whether going back to the drug risperidone will help or not. What I can suggest is that in cases with ADHD, explosive disorders and autism it is often helpful to seek therapy. Along with drugs individual therapy often helps deal with thoughts and emotions. I suggest you talk to your daughter's doctor and find out other options available. Take care!
573297 tn?1304709140 Yeah, his present psychiatrist keeps saying he still needs to take his ADHD meds....All the ADHD meds have had this effect on him though! That is why they gave him rx for risperidone. Last night he was SO off!!! I was really worried about him and kept waking up in the night with these urges to go check on him for fear of the worst. He was fine and hopefully will have a better day today.
Avatar f tn A few other thoughts in that some of this may be related to the ADHD. In the book, "The ADD/ ADHD Answer book," by Susan Ashley, she says (p 72) that the rates of daytime wetting are 3X higher for boys and the rate of nighttime wetting is 5X higher. " It is not unusual to wet the bed until 10 to 12 years old." And bowel movements are also more prevalent in kids with ADHD. Part of the problem is that when off the medication, the self control is less.
Avatar f tn he is 28 months and he has languagedelay development, after i saw a doctor he said that he has ADHD he saw him for 3, he recommended to us the speech therapy daily, after we started the speech therapy , he said that he should start to be under medication (Risperdal) my question is : is it that common to put a child that young under medication, or to diagnose him as ADHD , i am living in medial east.
1649932 tn?1348082640 Hi ive been taking risperidone for 3 weeks now for social anxiety it seems to be working a little but in extreamly nervous now sence i been taking it is the medecine suppose to make me nervous im on 1 mg are u going through this please let me know.
Avatar m tn Meds only work for a specific time period. Part of his problems may be happening cause Meds no longer in system. With ADHD you tend to hyper focus. Meds will help , as long as they are in system. What's he on an I can tell you how long they should last. He also needs behavioral help from a psyc.
Avatar f tn My daughter is mentally retarded, has autism, ADHD, and more recently has been diagnosed with Intermittent Explosive disorder. She is 10 and her level of MR is severe so she is unable to tell me how she feels. She has always been aggressive towards herself and others. She has been on risperidone for many years. Recently we have tried other drugs and her symptoms of aggression have increased. She is currently on Strattera, serequel, and hydroxizine (to help her sleep).
2067929 tn?1331241754 Hello. My 7 year old son has been diagnosed with ADHD and possibly PDD or Aspergers. We are currently managing him on Concerta, methylphenidate (short acting), risperidone and Prozac. There's a very fine balance and if they are not in synch we see behavior issues. Now, at school he's great because he's in a program that's more like a boot camp but he's done SO well since being put in it. But....at afterschool program we see hitting and kicking etc.
Avatar n tn what are withdrawl effects on children age 9year old female coming off risperidone? dosages was 0.5mg of rispiradone in the morning with 72 mg of concerta for ADHD. AND A 0.

Avatar f tn he is adhd so we ( a few doctors) have tryed most of the adhd medications and the risperidone was added b/c he developed a tic studdering as i said before 1st his dr sent him to a neurologist and when all that came back all clear they (the team of drs, my sons dr works with) came up with the risperidone. but since then i've seen the weight gain. he plays all sports.
574118 tn?1305135284 I more like ADHD hyper but not ADHD my phycologist explained that anxiety or more the adrenalin causes hyper behaviour. Which is exactly why I felt I was hyper when I'm anxious. I'm not using up the adrenalin that is being produced. What were you doing when you came off med's. rebound effect from stopping meds suddenly can make symptoms more intence as well. I think its a diagnoises based on behaviour from suddenly stopping meds might not be accurate at all.
Avatar n tn Which would make one think that possibly he does not have ADHD (maybe SPD which gets confused for ADHD a lot and is not treated with meds?) Unless, of course, he was over medicated and in a zombie, trance like state. So it really is important to know exactly what is going on. This really is a situation where, as Mark said, you need a real qualified Pysc. who specializes in this to help you. As far as getting online help. The best place is from the Dr. I mentioned above - Dr.
Avatar m tn I have finaly broken down and went to the doctor for my mental state. It started off that he said i had adhd so he put me on adderall wich help with my energy leval and it keeps me on task at work. Now after the first moth i started to get paranoid that my wife was cheating on me and thought every time she would go out with her friends she was out doing other things.
1554218 tn?1295646775 My son has been diagnosed with ADHD (combined type). He is severe in all three categories. He is taking ritalin and risperidone. I agree with his diagnosis and his psychologist has said that there is definately some co-morbidity but that has yet to be determined what else he has. The other conditions that she has mentioned are ODD and OCD. The problem is neither of these explain why my son seems indifferent to pain.
713780 tn?1229724775 MY 10 yr old son has ADHD/ANXIETY/PHOBIA/ AND ALSO A MOOD DISORDER which he is still being evaluated at school perhaps it might be BI-POLAR. Avatar m tn My question is on tapering risperidone how long does one need to taper risperidone from a dose of 1mg to 0.5mg in days or weeks?.
603015 tn?1329862973 i am afrraid this is not the risperidone, but it's called spastic colon (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). it just happened that they occurred by chance simultaneously. when you have anxiety you get spastic colon and especially with the change of weather, i.e. seasonal change from summer to fall say. I know it's devastating. They reckon it afflicts up to 20% of the world's population.
Avatar n tn my son, 9 , was taking risperidone 1mg BID. he has missed his doses for 2 days and now came home from summercamp with signs of tardive dyskinesia. Is this because of stopping the risperidone or has the risperidone been masking the tardive dyskinesia ?
Avatar m tn How do you manage withstand side effects of both Risperidone and Seroquel.I found even 1mg of Risperidone made me edgy, nervous and anxious. My hypomanic episode resolved in July and my Pdoc was a month late in tapering Risperidone. He started tapering process in September. In future I shall keep far away from these antipsychotics as possible.A most distasteful experience.
1985196 tn?1402190098 wow , that's some medication , over the last 10 years i've been on quiet a lot too but for the first 5 year's or so it was mainly anti-depressants and the odd anti psychotic , but they had no odea what they were treating back then, it's only been the last few years i got diagnosed properly ,but they are still not 100% sure about the Bi polar / with psychotic features or Schizoaffective , which is what they call it for now , i don't think there's a whole lot of difference
Avatar m tn I am really happy today.Yesterday I took my last dose of Risperidone which I had been taking since the past four months and which had been tapered off by my Pdoc .I never liked this med which had numerous side effects of which I experienced some, thankfully not the worst ones.I will now only have to take my mood stabilizer which I have been taking for a number of years.
