Common Questions and Answers about Restasis in canada dry eye

restasis

Avatar m tn After I got the Dr prescription, contacted Allergan and many online pharmacy, I just found that Restasis is still not official for sale (it is approved) in Canada till end of Oct. If someone can tell me some online drug stores can ship it to Canada, that will helpful. Now, I need to try the option of punctal plug to treat my moderate to severe dry eye. I plan to try a temporary one first.
Avatar f tn Should I try plugs 1st and if not successful, then go back to Restasis? 3. In reading about Restasis, are there future bad side effects in continued use such as cancer? I am starting to question if I should get another opinion. Thank you for any suggestions that you may have.
Avatar f tn To add some history, my eye dr explained to me several years ago that I have "dry eyes". That my ducts don't produce tears or something like that so I have to use over the counter eye drops daily. This burning, painful, running eye thing began just a few months ago and mainly comes on in the evenings and my "flare ups" last anywhere btwn 15-20 min at a time. It burns even while the tears are falling. I havnt got this checked cuz its something I just deal with.
Avatar f tn I've had difficulty with intermittent blurred vision for over a year. All neurological tests have been negative. Two months ago, my eye doctor changed my prescription slightly, and also suggested I try Restasis to see if maybe my eyes were just dry. I haven't noticed much of a change. I went today for a recheck. I read the eye chart with my right eye and did OK, but I could barely see the top line with my left eye. I was very shocked, as this has never happened before.
Avatar f tn ), is reluctant to fit me for a contact lens due to the dry eyes. Do you think that the restasis would help the dry eye so that I may better tolerate a contact lens? If so, I will bring up this possibility at my next appointment. As always thank you!!!
Avatar f tn Recently I had cataract surgery and implanted a Crystalens IOL in my right eye. Because of this I stopped using the ointment in this eye for fear of an infection. But I did use the Nevanac (anti-inflammatory), Omnipred (prednisone steroid) and Vigamox (antibiotic). Much to my surprise, my Dr. says my dry eye is very mild. Didn't you also have to use these drops post-cataract surgery? Did they help you? I would stop using the Restasis if after a month it's not helping.
Avatar m tn I have severe dry eye and in pain and too sensitive to restasis can eye plugs help?

Avatar m tn My Eye Doctor suggested I keep Restasis in the fridge to make more comfortable and reduce the burning and to keep using ir for 2 days. Does Restasis lose its effectiveness when placed in the fridge. Also when are results typically seen? I have a TBUT of 5 and hoping to see an increase if ues consistently.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your reply! I see the ENT on Monday.
Avatar n tn The redness cont...fine in a.m. to red in eve.--more so in the left. After a 1 mo. of this, I saw my eye dr. for my yearly. I told him I work on the comp. all day and have for yrs and no itchiness. He said it was allergies & gave me Pataday. It stung so I discont. & called & he put me on Elestat. After 2-1/2 wks, the redness cont.,+ still using artif tears 6x a day+ felt dry on the inner white of my eyes where red.
Avatar f tn s something wrong with the tear film that is supposed to lubricate the cornea, there are actually TWO types of dry eye. In one situation, the patient simply does not make enough watery tears, and for this, Restasis is a help; in the other, the little oil glands at the base of the eyelids start producing oil that is thick and does not spread well, and the result is that tears evaporate too quickly.
Avatar m tn I have had two left eye retinal detachments in 2020 and was reluctant to have any further procedures to that eye. My left eye especially is very dry and feels like pin pricks and stabbing sensation especially when it's windy or air conditioning. I am currently on teo hourly drops of optive plus and evo tears 3 times a day. Do you think there is any greater risk for me to have the eye plug op with me having had the RD surgeries?
Avatar f tn Do you get eye pain with dry eye syndrome and can it hurt if you press on your eye x
Avatar f tn ve recently posted that I just recently started Restasis, but my question is will the red eyes start getting better as the Restasis starts to work. Does dry eyes cause them to be red.......... I mean they are not horribly red, but are somewhat irritated. Will my eyes be like this always or will they get better eventually. My eye Dr. said they're not too bad, but I know that this is not they way they were before.
Avatar f tn I have dry eyes, so I recently started to use Restasis. But I also have allergy eyes, what can I take that will alleviate the itching, redness withone interfering with the Restasis.
Avatar m tn Hang in there with Restasis. Improvement often occurs up to 6 months. The lower opening carries 75% of the tears so usually only the lower is plugged. Doing the top without the bottom doesn't make sense. That Schirmer score would be moderate dry eyes.
Avatar n tn For aqueous deficincy you can try artificial tears like hypotears and standard dry eye treatment or if nothing works restasis. It is unlikely you have ocular candidiasis.
Avatar f tn Both my wife and I are on restasis for dry eyes with wonderful results. Of course it takes 6 months for them to kick in.
Avatar n tn Both my wife and I have been on Restasis for years for marked dry eyes. with great results.
Avatar n tn Doc sez to use Restasis and artificial tears w/ no preservatives. Everything I read about Fuchs sez to dry it out, even w/ a hair dryer. Doc sez eye is damaged by current dryness and he cannot do the cataract 'til tears function better in a month or so. Will the Restasis increase the moisture and worsen the Fuchs? What is the failure rate on cataract w/IOL combined w/ dry eye combined w/ Fuchs? He is concerned w/ this combo. I am seeing glares at nite and eyes are also astigmatic. I am 62.
Avatar f tn I am a 62 yr.old woman who has been diagnosed with severe dry eye syndrome. In June of 08 I had plugs put in by an Optometrist and the problem seemed to improve. Then in late August I started having eye pain and of feeling that something was constantly in my left eye. Also this started during when hurricanes Gustav and Ike were happening. I saw an opthomologist at that time and was told I had Blepharitis and was given two Rxs, FML and Azasite.
Avatar n tn Anesthetic and anitbiotic drops/ointment are put under the protector. While it is possible to scratch the eye or irritate it, in no way should it cause 4 years of dry eye. Best bet stay on retasis often takes 6 months to start working and a year for full effect. Go to Dr. Hagan's blog and read the section on dry eyes.. Tear duct plubs might be considered while you're waiting for the restasis to kick in.
Avatar f tn twice/day rest of your life. If you stop the dry eye comes back. Dry eye does not normally get better with time after age 40; usually not with people younger. But some young people that have dry eye due to medications such as for anxiety get better when the medication is changed.
Avatar f tn I had cataract removal in that eye 3 months ago (2008) and the post -op problems have been tremendous. Severe dry eye again, tearing, left peripheral loss, large posterior vitreous detachment and the eye at times quivers and jumps. Yes, my left vision is now 20-20 (most of the time) but with all the post op problems I would be elated if I could have my old eye site back. I will not chance having the right eye done..
