Restasis after lasik

Common Questions and Answers about Restasis after lasik

restasis

Avatar m tn Last week, noted vision much more diminished bilaterally. Eyes very red and slightly swollen. Now vision is foggy at times, like it was after LASIK, but not as foggy as it initially was after this procedure. I have hx of migraines. The past year they have been really under control. Now they are coming back...related to eyes? Have developed a left hand tremor when I pick up a cup or glass. Are these related symptoms or separate issues? What does this sound like?
415867 tn?1323365503 My eye dr. wanted me to do restasis eye drops prior to me having lasik eye surgery done. She gave me trial ones until I got the rx filled so I've been using them for 10 days now, twice a day. I finally took the rx in to get filled and before I signed and paid there was a "don't take if pregnant or trying to becoming pregnant" I was like...."Woo~" So I talked to the pharmacist and she said that my eye dr.
Avatar m tn At that time my cataract surgery will be around 90 days old. Is it unusual to have that type of lasik so soon after the cataract sugery and will this improve my vision? My vision is much clearer in my right eye with my contact lens. I know you can't make a clear judgment without examining my eye, but is my surgeron looking for some reason my vision isn't are sharp as expected? She said my vision still might improve even after all that time. Thanks for you reply.
Avatar n tn I'm 26 years and my problem is light sensitivity. My eyes are burning when I try to watch TV, computer or when is strong sunlight. In 2004 I had a lasik surgery for medium myopia and before that I had contact lenses. Now I wear glasses for small myopia and astigmatism. I had this problem before the lasik surgery but it was rarely, after the lasik it became permanent. I've seen many doctors and the only cause they could find was dry eye.
630166 tn?1222287376 I had Lasik sugery about 4 years ago and had dry eye for a couple of years, but then that improved with the help of using Restasis. About a week ago I woke up with redness and mat in my left eye. My first thought was I had the pink eye. I went to my doctor and he gave me Tobramycin Ophthalmic Solution. That didn't help, so then he gave me Sulfacetamide Sodium Ophthalmic Solution.
Avatar f tn Before doing anything that is permanent, have you considered using Restasis for your dry eyes? I had no luck at first with Restasis, but it turned out I had not used it long eneough. Now, after using it for 2 months, I am noticing a dramatic improvement. I now do not need any eye drops or eye ointments. My bottom ducts are plugged.
Avatar m tn IT is very very rare for someone to have their vision after lasik worse than before. If you are not better next visit then consider asking for the second opinion.
Avatar m tn However, eye dryness still continue (2 years after LASIK now), especially with PC-phone usage. It is mild though, do not need using drops some days at all. Some days are really bad though. Visited the doctor who operated my eyes and he told me that I may use Restasis. What do you recommend?
Avatar n tn After taking restasis for over a year and my dry eyes was not getting better the Dr. gave me lotemax but said only use that. Now after using it for 2 months only, he said I shouldn't have stopped the restasis. Now I am really annoyed.....have I lost what improvement I may have gained with the restasis having stopped it for two months? Should I be seeing a opthomologist rather than a Dr. of Optometry???
Avatar f tn Ask your ophthalmologist if you have GPC (giant papillary conjunctivities) which is an allergy to contact lens wear that causes bumps under the eyelid. If so ask him/her about opticrom for treatment of GPC. Google and read about. More likely you have dry eyes. Probably why your contacts started bothering you and lasik can make dry eyes worse. Go to my website and scroll through the blog posts and read the updated article on dry eyes.
Avatar f tn our daughter has headaches for 2years since her lasik. she had mri, cat scans, allergy testing, she swears it is right after lasik .eyes a fine. just headaches.
Avatar f tn My eye doctor just Rx'd Lotemax (4 weeks) & Restasis (for life) for my extremely dry eyes. They feel like sand is in them. I am concerned because from what I can understand Restasis works through the auto immune system. I am in week 38 of standard treatment and since week 16 of treatment have had a hypothyroid. Any advice? I also was told this morning to increase Procrit from 20,000 to 40,000 a week because Hgb was only 8.5 on this weeks lab.
Avatar m tn I have been taking fish oil supplements and then switched to flaxseed oil supplements to help my dry eyes after having iol surgery and later, lasik touchup on one of my eyes....Now i found that both were VERY effective in giving me a nice tear layer and worked great...but the problem for me is it seems i have either a hypersensitivity in taking either one and develop side effects after a while where i seem to get headaches and an uncomfortable feeling in my throat...
Avatar f tn Can you have LASIK performed if you have SLK and dry eyes? I am currently on Restasis to help with dry eyes, along with OTC drops as needed. I have been unable to wear my contacts for almost 2 years now due to irritation from EKC prior to my SLK diagnosis. I am aware that my eyes must be "quiet" for at least a year before I can even think about LASIK, but will my dry eyes prevent me from getting the LASIK performed?
Avatar m tn I did modeling prior to lasik and now, post lasik, I have large dark bags under my eyes and the top of my eyes are continuously puffy - where it hurts to keep them open. Like Scoobydoo999, I do have proof that my eye area was clear of bags and puffiness prior to the lasik (via my career). Aging in the form of large, dark bags and swelling doesn't happen overnight, to the same area, to a mass amount of people, post lasik for no reason.
Avatar n tn ve tried Xiidra (mainly in patients that did not tolerate the far less expensive Restasis) they have complained of pain, redness, blurred vision. Of course Jennifer Aniston likes it but she is paid millions of dollars to advertise on TV.
Avatar f tn It does not seem I will ever be able to wear them because after I treat my eye issue with steroids, it gets better after weeks and weeks, but then comes back once I resume contacts. Both the Drs did not recommend lasik but I want to be able to see without wearing glasses my whole life.
Avatar n tn I found that for me the 1-day Acuvue was a better choice than the Acuvue Oasis (all the solutions dried out my eyes). I then used Restasis and had all four puncti permanently plugged. After 3 months of faithful Restasis use and allowing my eye to get used to having the punctal plugs, I've had significant improvement and can successfully wear contacts. I also take 2 mg of fish oil per day (good for dry eye).
Avatar m tn I'm 35-year-old male in otherwise good health (I did have Lasik 10 years ago with no problems other than some dryness). 9 weeks ago after the birth of my second daughter, I started having some discomfort from dryness in my eyes, and then one day after a panic attack (my wife had complications post delivery and we had to rush her to ER), my vision went blurred and it has not returned to normal since then.
Avatar n tn I had lasik back in 02 & never had a problem--had white eyes & never dry. Just used OTC generic artificial tears here & there. Then in 5/08, I develop. red eyes & had a prominent vessel in my left eye. Eye dr. said it was strain from studying for my MBA and should go away on its own. He took eye tests and put me on restasis. The redness went away but the prominent vessel stayed. It's still there to this day & the eye dr.
Avatar n tn I have an exploded blood vessel in my left eye that developed last year so now my left eye is red and I have a small dot in my red eye. I had lasik almost 7 years ago and never had a problem. I do work on the computer at work. I did go to the eye dr. who performed my lasik and he did all kinds of tests and send there was no problem and it was probably strain. He put me on Restasis. I went back about 2 months later and still had the blood vessel there but he said the dryness had improved.
Avatar f tn Your dry eyes - if not controlled - will likely get worse after surgery for an indefinite amount of time. You may already be on Restasis and flax/fish oil supplements and punctum plugs can be placed post-op if needed.
Avatar m tn I understand his frustration but I am at a loss myself… I got a second opthomologist who was also rather curt and said I did not have rosacea, the contacts ticked my eyes off and I’m showing some signs of bleph, problems with my Meibomian Gland, and allergies and to keep going with the treatment. He said my eyes looked fine he only looked in my eyes with a slit lamp after staining them.
20830596 tn?1554933789 monthly contacts blurred after a day. I have some new daily testers (toric), but I’m not sure if I’m wasting my time with these or not. Wearing them at the ophthalmologist’s office, the tests show that my vision is 20/20. But I don’t feel like I’m seeing that well. There’s a constant sort of blur to everything (same with multiple brands). I was told that I would need to get used to them. I wore them one day for 6 hours & they were still blurred.
Avatar m tn Surgery was done in the fall and now 5 months later one eye is giving me extreme light sensitivity and watering. Tfhe dr. put me on Restasis and drops. Tried temporary plugs and when they melted my condition got worse. Now one dr. wants to put pemanent plugs in, went to a world reknown hospital and head of eye dept. said they are a foreign body, don't do it.
Avatar n tn I recently underwent LASIK surgery that greatly improved my vision and seems to be a success with one ongoing problem -- I now suffer from dry eyes that require application of eye drops at least every half hour and as often as every 5 minutes while using a computer. The condition is very uncomfortable and interferes with my ability to work (which requires extensive use of a computer), drive, and perform many normal activities of daily living.
