Hello, I was active in sex till march 2007 which is like a year ago, but always used to use condoms. I get this red painless bumps on my penis head every now and then since the last 2 years . They come go while sometime they stay for quite long. I have tested negative for HIV whereas have done a herpes and syphilis test whose results are awaited in a couple of weeks. The red bumps also show some yellow thing in the middle. There is no pain or discharge from the bumps too.

I have developed a red rash on the top of my scrotum over the past couple of months. I started noticing it at the beginning of the year and it has spread a bit since then. The rash has a couple of clusters of very small bumps (the bump is no bigger then 1.5 millimeter). I have been to the health center at my school 3 times, and they tell me it is nothing to worry about, but it has not gone away in months. I am sexually active and I have had a girlfriend for a few months.

Herpes simply does not behave at all like these lesions; based on your description, it is not a possible cause. Once herpes lesions start as red bumps, within 1-2 days they become blisters, then painful sores -- i.e. they keep getting worse for several days and generally don't clear up in under 2 weeks. And no other STD causes such symptoms either. If not just prominent skin glands, maybe a superficial yeast infection (which isn't an STD)?

I would say that I inspect the area too much and I retract the skin too often to inspect the red bumps. Often where I am pulling back on the skin is exactly where the flesh colored bumps are appearing. Thanks.

Now on the OTHER side of my penis shaft, still underneath, there are three more pinprick red spots. And on the top of my penis, in the fold of skin right beneath the rim of the head, there are a whole bunch...like little dots, about 1mm in diameter if that, and painless...About ten dots or so, VERY slightly raised... Would herpes ever present like this, in various locations across the penis? Would it ever involve little dots / bumps like these--painless ones?

ve come back and seem almost worse. There is alot of red dots/bumps on the head of my penis now and on my foreskin. This time they are itchy and some of the bumps are white on top around the gland of my penis. On my foreskin below the head there are bumps too that seem like they are swollen. When i touch them they seem to feel very sensitive and i'm quite concered about it. I've done alot of reading and research but i'm posting this question just to see what they are.

What you describe does not sound the least bit like herpes. Despite the fact that it is above your public hair, it really does sound more like folliculitis than anything else. Folliculitis occurs when the pores in your skin get plugged. This allows that normal bacteria that are present on just about every-one's skin to grow and cause what is essentially a pimple. Some of these just appear as red bumps which may or may not be tender while others go on to actually form pimples.

Bumps are often not STD related, but you would have to see a Dr because bumps can be so many different things.

No puss, but the tip of penis is irritated (not red just irratated). The tip of my penis is not red at all and only the bumps are red not the surrounding skin. It does burn a little when I pee. No fever, no headache, think glands are good...just very stresses. Any ideas?

Hello Doctor, About two weeks ago my partner and I had 2 or 3 days of fairly constant intercourse. About a day later I noticed a group of pimple like red bumps in the public hair near the base of my penis. Neither of us have an std or have ever contracted one. Just an itchy red rash. No red bumps that I can see. There is nothing either at the tip of the penis. The rash is on the shaft of it on one side only. So it doesn't sound like anything you described really. It has only been one week since this sexual encounter so do you think it could be a STD still ??

I'm not sure what it is but I'm a 18 year old virgin and I have a large white boil looking bubble on my scrotum no more than an inch and a quaternary below my penis and I have had it for year. The Urologist also look at my penis seen what appears to be one red bump on each side of my penis. My question is these red bumps that are adjacent from each other on each side of my penis they are hardly noticeable until I masturbate.
