pristiq and wellbutrin combination

m worried that the combination of Cymbalta and Wellbutrin can cause this. Is the combintation of Cymbalta and Wellbutrin safe? Thanks very much!

I know Pristiq works with Serotonin and Norepinephrine, and Wellbutrin works with Dopamine...and it is my understanding that those are the 3 chemicals or hormones or whatever that work with your emotions. I used to be on Lexapro which only works with Seratonin and that did nothing for me...but when i switched to Pristiq all of a sudden my anxiety almost completely went away, but my depression stayed.

One problem is you will be taking meds that affect the same neurotransmitters, and that can cause an overload. both Pristiq and Elavil affect serotonin, and while Pristiq does so more profoundly than Elavil you could still theoretically run into the problem of serotonin syndrome. You don't say how much you're taking, it could be tiny doses of each, but the risk exists though it's probably not common.

WELLBUTRIN (bupropion hydrochloride), an antidepressant of the aminoketone class, is chemically unrelated to tricyclic, tetracyclic, selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor, or other known antidepressant agents. PRISTIQ is an extended-release tablet for oral administration that contains desvenlafaxine succinate, a structurally novel SNRI for the treatment of MDD. Pristiq is an SNRI while Wellbutrin is not. Abilify is not in either class, it is totally different.

I am kind of the exception because I am medication resistant and my depression and anxiety is a tough nut to crack. I am currently on a Pristiq, Lamictal and Lithium combination and it seems to be working ok, but the add on of the Lamictal and lithium is only in it's second week so I should know more later on it's effectivness. Both Pristiq and wellbutrin are stimulating antidepressants, and aren't usually first choices if anxiety is the main problem. If depression is the main problem, that's a whole different story. I'd try a different ssri, because if it's the serotonin reuptake inhibition itself that's causing the problem, Pristiq does that as well, but it also acts on norepinephrine, a stimulating neurotransmitter.

I have been on many different antidepressants over the last 25 years. Cymbalta was the worst experience of all, Prozac, paxil Effexor, all worked for a while but after about 7 to 10 years they just didn't help much and I would switch to another one. My psychiatrist finally put me on Wellbutrin about 7 years ago. OMG it was a life saver, literally.

50mg zoloft, 200mg wellbutrin, 1mg klonopin 4x a day, 50mg PRISTIQ. after 10 days i stop zoloft and wellbutrin and start 100mg PRISTIQ WITH THE KLONOPIN . SHOULD THIS WORK?

I take lithium Wellbutrin pristiq and clomping. I am going through menopause. I take about 6 six 7.5 hydros a day. I have taken the meds for 20 years, but the hydros about 2 years. Lately I have become morbidly depressed, and I need to know if you guys think its the hydros. Sometimes I do take more, but never more than 10 hydros.

When I saw my doctor again, he gave me samples of Pristiq to take in conjunction with the Wellbutrin. This combination worked extraordinarily well for me and I finally saw purpose and meaning in life again. I saw my doctor a couple of weeks ago as I had nearly finished the samples he had initially given me. We discovered that my insurance does not cover Pristiq and he had no remaining samples at his office.

Wellbutrin is the only AD that doesn't make me go nuts. If you would have asked me 20 tears ago how it made me feel, I would have said stoned, but who knows because I was on other meds then too. Today it (and the Lamictal) doesn't make me feel like anything, except better, which is a good thing.

Wellbutrin is for depression, not anxiety, and as such can be stimulating. Drugs like Effexor are for both, but all can cause weight gain. You won't know until you try. The least problematic are probably Prozac, and then Lexapro, but even Lexapro has been known to cause significant weight gain and Prozac isn't usually that great for anxiety, but who knows? They're weird, these drugs, and affect everyone differently.

I've been on several diff types of anxiety meds and just a few weeks ago my dr. put me on a new one b/c the Wellbutrin wasn't working for me. He put me on "Pristiq", he told me it is a newer anxiety med, but it's basically a spin-off of "Effexor". I didn't like the Effexor, but the Pristiq is working great!

I just started wellbutrin for my depression and it made my anxiety sky rocket. Cant sleep and shaky hands. Im in a training program for a job and I was doing well, I have completed 4 weeks, i think clonazapem was keeping me going. i have been on Pristiq for 8 months now and i also take Wellbutrin. 50mg of the Pristiq and 400mg of the Wellbutrin. Only been on the Wellbutrin for a few months. I have been on Pristiq 100mg for 3 months, Wellbutrin 150mg for 5 weeks and we added Strattera 40mg. Pristiq for PMDD, Wellbutrin for motivation and Strattera for focus. Separately they help each thing only. So was wondering if anyone else is on a combo like this and it’s helped. And how long. I seem to be anxious more lately before adding Strattera....hoping this helps it. No libido what so ever.

m taking 50mg pristiq and 75 mg effexor daily for 7 days, and then 50mg pristiq and 37.5mg effexor for the next 7 days. My therapist has suggested this dosing to make the transition gradual. I was just curious as to anyone elses experience with such a change, good or bad.

Hi. I started wellbutrin xl 150 mg a few months ago after having tachycardia chest tightness and panic. Upped it to 300 mg after a few weeks. I also have clorazepate (tranxene) 7.5 mg for when needed. Then after having tachycardia still I started metoprolol 25 mg (which I cut in half) to help with daily anxiety and lower my heart rate. It has definitely lowered my heart rate but I still don't feel right. Still have an uneasy feeling and tightness in my chest.

Hi there again! I'm sorry to hear you're still struggling! Are you on any meds right now? Still on the Pristiq? My advice would be to go ahead and try something else. For one, you were doing well and had success intially. Unfortunately the increase in the Pristiq and adding the Wellbutrin was way too much, which isn't suprising, especially the Wellbutrin, it can be quite activating. I would talk with your doctor about trying something else.

So my doctor supplemented me with 100 mg of wellbutrin. Well, so far I really like the wellbutrin. It gives a boost of energy in the morning, and I feel my sex drive coming back. However, I feel like it's a little ridiculous for me to be taking one drug to counteract another. Anyone else experience this?

My dysthymia (chronic depression) is getting the best of me, and I'm nearly to the point that I don't really want to do anything anymore. This was in the hope that maybe I could reduce or get off Wellbutrin (memory problems) if the Pristiq did not cause sexual side effects. I have been on Pristiq for a month and a half now. I have been taking a combination of Wellbutrin XR and Paxil CR for several years now. I do very well on this combination of medications. I asked my doctor recently about about trying Cymbalta because I have recentently learned I have arthritis in my low back and both hips. I would have to titrate off of my current meds first. His main remark was that if I am doing well on my current meds he didn't recommend the change.
