Pristiq with wellbutrin

Common Questions and Answers about Pristiq with wellbutrin

744415 tn?1243956976 I'm new to this forum and I wanted to say, "hello", but I also have a question and a few comments. I've been on several diff types of anxiety meds and just a few weeks ago my dr. put me on a new one b/c the Wellbutrin wasn't working for me. He put me on "Pristiq", he told me it is a newer anxiety med, but it's basically a spin-off of "Effexor". I didn't like the Effexor, but the Pristiq is working great!
Avatar f tn Wellbutrin is an energizing antidepressant that can increase anxiety and actually cause panic attacks in some people. Pristiq is approved for depression, but may also help with panic disorder and anxiety.
Avatar f tn I have been on Pristqe for a few years now and the dr and I felt it wasn't well for me anymore so I was put on 300mg of Wellbutrin, I don't like the was it is making me feel with 4 days into it. I have been crying more, dizzy, angered easily , thirsty , and can even think streight. Has anyone experienced this ?
Avatar f tn Both Pristiq and wellbutrin are stimulating antidepressants, and aren't usually first choices if anxiety is the main problem. If depression is the main problem, that's a whole different story. I'd try a different ssri, because if it's the serotonin reuptake inhibition itself that's causing the problem, Pristiq does that as well, but it also acts on norepinephrine, a stimulating neurotransmitter.
Avatar f tn Ihave tried Cymbalta, didn't do anything for me, also Lyrica for fibro, still no help, I'm not sure if I have tried Pristiq but have been on almost every med for depression, stay with the Wellbutrin because as I previously explained, It doesn't make you tired, also is know not to have sexual side effects(most decrease your libido) and if you smoke or use tobacco products it contains the same properties found in the drug they prescribe to help quit; so that may be an added bonus for you.
Avatar m tn When I first started taking medication for anxiety and depression, I took Effexor. Over aobut 2 months, I gradually felt better. My doctor prescribed Valium along with the Effexor until the med kicked in and we got the dose set. Having both worked very well for me. As the Effexor kicked in we weaned off the Valium. I took Effexor 75 mg for three years with very good results (I promise I will get to Prisiq soon.
Avatar f tn Either medicine (bupropion or pristiq) works for me for my anxiety, its just the side effects are the issue here. My doctor told me with pristiq, most people don't have issues with side effects.
822153 tn?1333066595 i used to sell Effexor XR and my girlfriend sells Pristiq and said it is the same. It is a great drug and will really help with you anxiety!! I wishing you continued success and happiness!!! Feel free to ask any more question/concerns you may have!
455167 tn?1259261471 When I got off Pristiq to start a Tri-cyclic (thank god that worked) The withdrawl from the Pristiq was massive. Far worse than with Effexor. 2 solid months of almost vilont withdrawl before that damn drug left my body. Effexor was a cake wak in comparison. I say this not to scare you. but to warn you. That Damn Pristiq get's a lot of advertisment. That doesn't mean it's a quality antidepressant. Maybe it will work for you. It's hard to say unless you try.
Avatar m tn My only complaint with Pristiq is that at 100Mgs a day dosage I have sexual side effects from it. I am male and it has reduced my sex drive by about 50% which I hate. The side effects of stopping Pristiq are much the same as with Effexor. They can be rough as I once ran out for two days and had withdrawls.
1390847 tn?1344661068 I know Pristiq works with Serotonin and Norepinephrine, and Wellbutrin works with Dopamine...and it is my understanding that those are the 3 chemicals or hormones or whatever that work with your emotions. I used to be on Lexapro which only works with Seratonin and that did nothing for me...but when i switched to Pristiq all of a sudden my anxiety almost completely went away, but my depression stayed.
Avatar m tn ), but they seem a little out of date and have worse side effects. So that leaves me with Pristiq or Cymbalta (Remeron is another choice, but I haven't heard much about it). I've read the side effects and dangers for both, but am uncertain which one to go with. Pristiq seems like it's very similar to Effexor, so would it have the same sexual side effects?
Avatar n tn My doctor switched me to Pristiq, which works the same way as effexor. I haven't had any problems with weight gain on either of the meds, though. I've actually lost a bit of weight since starting pristiq. I've been on it for months and my depression and anxiety have been put in their place! Your eating habits may have changed a bit. You should consider what you've been eating and the amount. Consider whether your habits have changed recently or not.
Avatar m tn Its day 4. The wellbutrin is taking charge. Been on wellbutrin for a 7 or 8 yrs. Been on effexor for around 6 yrs. I think the effexor suppresses the welbutrin. I noticed signs that my libido's coming back. Forgot I used to have a libido before effexor. My mood is better. The withdraw is a lot less, unless I start thinking negative or stressful thoughts.
Avatar n tn After reading up on the generic's side effects, it became blaringly obvious that the problem wasn't with Wellbutrin XL, but with the inferior generics!! ( I was given two different ones). Anyways I called my doctor last April and requested "Brand Name Only", and I am very grateful that my insurance allows me to get with with a higher copay.
Avatar f tn I have a five year old girl to look after and it really makes me upset when I lose my temper with her all the time. I grew up with a mum who was always depressed and angry and I don't want her to experience the same thing. Is this part of the depression (as my doctor says) or have other people experienced increased aggressiveness on this drug? I feel really out of control and want to just stop this medication - is it safe to do so?
603543 tn?1255298050 50mg of the Pristiq and 400mg of the Wellbutrin. Only been on the Wellbutrin for a few months. For the most part i thought i was doing alright. But now i havent gotten hardly any sleep in a week. I missed a couple doses and i wonder if this is why. I also have a constant headache. I take mine at night and then just 200mg Wellbutrin in the morning. i wonder should i try and take it at another time? As for the sex drive...seems lately alot of it had been gone and very difficult to get to orgasm.
Avatar n tn I went to get a higher dosage of Wellbutrin XL today and they gave me Budeprion xl 300 mg. They told me they now have the generic form which is cheaper. I was wondering if this will make a difference compared to taking the brand name? Wellbutrin 150 has worked wonders for me and now they give me this budeprion. I just want to know if it's the same thing, more importantly, work the same?
Avatar f tn pristiq, sertraline, effexor, noratriptlyne,
Avatar m tn It should be okay unless you happen to have some sort of unusual sensitivity to either of those drugs. I'm taking 400 mg of Wellbutrin and 50 mg of Pristiq (an SNRI) without any lasting problems (just some initial side effects with Pristiq that have gone away). You don't say whether your doctor has started you on smaller dosages and brought you up to these levels. I hope that is the case. I'm pretty sure one does not initiate Wellbutrin dosage at 300 mg.
Avatar m tn but kind of like a cold chill..almost like brain freeze Pristiq is with all the rest of the SSRIs, SNRIs, etc.. My Theroy..along with allot of others is that these meds do not make things better.
Avatar f tn I've been on wellbutrin sr. for about 4 years now, but it wasn't helping with my bipolar & depression. So I've been on many combinations with wellbutrine & nothing so far is helping me.So, my Dr. added prozac. There are a number of reasons we tryed so may diffrent meds. 1 is weight gain. 2. is not being able to sleep at night. & 3 the ups & DOWNS- mood swings & so on. I don't know what to expect?? can anyone help answer any of my questions??
5050843 tn?1362873926 So I was started taking the 150mg Wellbutrin along with 50mg of Zoloft for about a month and then the next month 150mg Wellbutrin along with 25mg of Zoloft. Now that I am only taking Wellbutrin - it's been about 2 weeks - I feel that the panics attacks are back and I'm a bit lightheaded daily. I want to feel better so I think this is still a "withdrawl" from the Zoloft, but if it doesn't get better in a month I will head back to the Dr. I think Dr.
Avatar n tn Do you know if there is more benifits as far as weight lost with the Wellbutrin SR then the Wellbutrin XL.
Avatar f tn I have been switched from 150mg of zoloft after 13 years to 300mg of wellbutrin. I have now been on the wellbutrin for two and half months after slowly coming off the zoloft. I felt great after about the first month. I really liked myself and was alot more outgoing. I started to become very agitated and angry about almost everything. I feel I am back to square one.
Avatar f tn helped more and has had less side effects than anyother I have been on. I have also tried zoloft, prozax, paxil, and wellbutrin xr. Anyways, I was just wondering what expeirences anyone else has had on abilify? I know it effects everyone different but.....
Avatar n tn WELLBUTRIN (bupropion hydrochloride), an antidepressant of the aminoketone class, is chemically unrelated to tricyclic, tetracyclic, selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitor, or other known antidepressant agents. PRISTIQ is an extended-release tablet for oral administration that contains desvenlafaxine succinate, a structurally novel SNRI for the treatment of MDD. Pristiq is an SNRI while Wellbutrin is not. Abilify is not in either class, it is totally different.
Avatar n tn I am currently taking Wellbutrin for my depression. I have tried Pristiq and Effexor not long ago but the side affects are too much for me. I am trying to understand why my depression has not alleviated and at times it becomes increasingly worse for no reason.
897400 tn?1303332748 I have heard of them and they sound promising, but I have been let down before with new drugs that didn't live up to my expectations. Abilify and Pristiq being two newer drugs that never really worked for me. I like the idea of this triple Reuptake approach, but the FDA could have it tied up until 2010. There is also a new SSRI in the testing phases that has no sexual side effects. I guess that will be good for people in which SSRI's work. Doesn't do me much good.
