Is it okay to take Prilosec? They said Zantac was okay, but not to take Prevacid. I bought Prilosec and want your opinions on it.
I have been having some GI issues for almost 2 months now and was first diagnosed with Gastritis. For the Gastritis I was given 15 days worth of Prilosec. While on the Prilosec (and before) I had diarrhea and loose stools every day. Being as I was having that before, I never attributed it to the Prilosec but now I'm questioning whether or not the Prilosec contributed to the loose bowel movements as I am now back on Prilosec and am having loose stools once again.

He was on Pepsid for reflux, we are now trying Prilosec. Recently, he has been crying more than usual when eating and has extremely loud burbs that smell like sulfur/rotten eggs. Is there anything else wrong other than his reflux?
Besides the cost, is their truly a difference between Nexim and Prilosec. The active components in Nexium are esomprazole magnesium and in Prilosec are Omeprazole Magnesium. Also, Nexium comes in 20 mg and 40 mg capsules and Prilosec is sold over the counter in 20 mg tablets.
My GI switched me to Nexium because Aciphex gave me terrible side effects and Protonix made my water brash symptoms ever worse.
I have tried Prilosec in the past and it didn't have much of an effect for me.
Is there an appropriate way of getting off of Prilosec? I have been taking it for almost two months and starting to think that all the symptoms I am experiencing are from the Prilosec. After all GI test have come back normal and all the test from my regular physician have come back normal, I want to quit Prilosec. The first month I was taking one 20mg pill in the morning and one 20mg at night. Now I am only taking one 20mg pill a day. Do I quit cold turkey?

sometimes my pain is so bad I resort to the Motrin and take it with tagamet or prilosec. I have had Hep C for 32 years.....Needle stick in nursing school...bummmmmmmer before they even diagnosed me. ("Non A Non B") Any way....I did a year of tx and 50 grand later it came back... I did have insurance for part of it though..70% of 50 grand I guess that I am venting . So if anyone has any ideas......Broke 4 ribs and twisted my spine.
Anyone with HepC taking 20 mg. of Prilosec? My dr. said ok to take, but I'd feel better if anyone else is/has used it. Either a prescription or OTC.
If you removed your uterus you wouldnt be able to be pregnant ever... I am not sure of the implications but i definitely know the previous to be true. Good luck!

Is Prilosec known to have an effect directly on urine albumin or indirectly through blood pressure? I have read warnings about kidney disease being associated with the long term use of PPIs. I have to take Prilosec for another 3 weeks. Any insights or guidance will be appreciated.

About 3 months ago I got sick with bronchitis was put on an inhaler which I think really bothered my stomach. My doctor put me on prilosec which I took for 9 days then stopped due to terrible stomach pain, he then put me on acifex which did absolutely the same thing. After complaining about the stomach pain, my doctor sent me to a gastroenteroligist who ordered blood work, and a esophogram all coming back negative. The new doctor put me on protonix and after 5 days I had wonderful relief.
I have been taking Prilosec OTC and my Doctor prescribed Nexium. It seems to me that they are the same, with one being extremely cheaper. I am Beginning my fifth month of pregnancy and I would like to know if it is safe to continue taking prilosec otc.

Mine was too! I was eating at least 8 tums a day until my doctor suggested at my 28 week check up that I take Prilosec until the end of my pregnancy. I was worried at first because I didn't want to take anything that would harm my baby, but she reassured me that Prilosec & Zantac are safe during pregnancy. Zantac will help fight symptoms after the fact for up to 12 hours & Prilosec will stop symptoms before they start all day.
