My mom was recently diagnosed with Hep C associated cirrhosis. She has had some complications, including esophageal varices and ascites. She remains fairly well compensated and does not exhibit symptoms such as fatigue or confusion.
During an endoscopy her doctor also noticed an ulcer and tested her for H pylori (which was positive). He's prescribed Prevpac to kill the bacteria and heal the ulcer.

I have been having really bad heartburn and a burning feeling in my stomach. I was told to take Nexium but I have a severe allergy to penicillin. My question is, can I take nexium if I'm allergic to penicillin?
Hi, it certainly sounds like you're allergic to something in the beef, & you might have given us a clue on solving it by saying you are allergic to penicillin

If you have a strong family history of penicillin allergy, then amoxicillin group also should be avoided. Also please mention this fact to any doctor you or your daughter and other children visit. An antiallergic like Benadryl should be given and please stop the medicine. Discuss with your doctor as soon as possible.

So I was told a long time ago I have a bad allergy to penicillin, I just found out penicillium produces penicillin and was wondering because brie cheese has a rind made of penicillium if it's safe for me to eat this cheese? I ate a little bit of it and got somewhat sick roughly an hour later all before I found out what its rind is made of.
then when I get in, I had to wait again and fill out a ton of paperwork on what kind of allergies I had, I was only there to get a stinking allergy test done to see if I was allergic to penicillin, not for all the other bologna that I was questioned about. My mom was waiting in the car with my two kids and my niece (since I do not drive). I did not know how horribly long this rediculous appt. was going to last!

I had an acute allergic reaction on Jan. 2, 2008 to Penicillin, my hands swelled and were burning . I was hospitalized and given intervenous steroids. I continued on the sterdoids by mouth along with Zyrtec and Benedril. t believe how few doctors warn their patients who are allergic to penicillin to avoid foods that may contain penicillin - and that would be most poultry products, other commercial meat products and possibly dairy products. Buy food that are antibiotic free - believe me it works to avoid allergens.
I was hoping you guys could help me.I was having some minor stomach issues. swallowing was a little hard, so I went to the DR. We did a endoscope. He found: H. Pylori associated moderate chronic gastritis with some signs of intestinal metaplasia. Right now I'm taking the Prevpac (triple therapy) for the bacterium. Will this type of gastritis eventually resolve itself when the bacterium is removed?
Dear experts I have been diagnosed with syphilis primary and i am in remote location where the availability is only of Penicillin G Potassium 800000u tablets and have been asked to have them twice daily on empty stomach for 10 days. I just wanted to check if they really work as I read online generally Benzathine Penicillin is preferred medication. I dont trust the medicine department here as they are mostly ngo diven. If a drug allergy happens like in case of penicillin allergy, it is sudden and right after taking the first dose itself. This itch can be due to viral infections as well. I suggest you to consult a doctor for your cough and coryza and get prescribed other oral antibiotics like cephalosporins.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
You probably should be talking to your sons doctor or pharmacist and ask if it is ok that he takes the prevacid when he has an allergy to penicillin. A lot can also depend on the type of reaction he gets from the penicillin as well. So my advice would be just to call up your pharmacist or doctor and ask. Thank you doctor I think i will insist on the shots. Would an allergy test tell me if I'm allergic to the penicillin? I took two doses of penicillin V 2 years ago for an eye infection and had a reaction to it (urticaria, fever). I then thought it was an allergic reaction but thinking about it it could have been the jarisch-herxheimer reaction. Would a simple allergy test tell me if i'm actually allergic to it?
sounds like an allergic reaction to the penicillin. I too have an allergy to that, and that's similar to the symptoms I used to have while taking it. do you ever feel sick after it?
