Tums, milk, I'm on medicine because mine was bad before I got pregnant. Talk to your dr of you have tried over the counter and it hasn't worked.
I had the same response from my dr as obmommy. Reflux was actually my first clue that I was pregnant. It was getting so bad that I was recommended to take Prevacid or Pepcid. Tums didn't nothing for me. I like Prevacid because it works better but it's more costly. I have no reflux symptoms anymore! Such a relief!
s really bad and none of those help you can see if your doctor is ok with something like prevacid or prilosec.
As the title said, I am a 50 year old healthy female(with normal BMR).
I used to have bad heartburn years ago, but was able to treat it with change in diet and prevacid. I actually haven't taken this medication for a few years. Then about a month ago, I started getting heartburn, along with nausea and vomiting. Soon, I also had bitter taste in my mouth. I got prescription for prevacid again from my doc, and I also tried OTC meds(tums, etc), but none of them worked.
I use tums and take Zantac.
Heart burn lasted me my whole first pregnency now that I am pregnant again it is still really bad so grab a bunch of tums it could last ur whole pregnancy
My doc recommended Prevacid if Tums wasn't cutting it.
I use Zantac, my midwife said it was okay to use!
Omgosh me too. I have horrible heartburn as well. I am a tums eater and that holds me over for a little while then it comes right back. Please share if you have a resolution to this madness of heartburn. I'm 33+5 weeks so I'm trying to deal because it almost over.
I was taking a prescription (omeprazole) to control my severe reflux(GERD) before I found out I was pregnant. My primary doctor suggested I stop taking it until my first appt with OB( 1/27) to see what she suggests. My reflux is severe and I don't want to keep taking Pepcid and tums like crazy. Has anyone else had this before pregnancy and what were you given to take that was safe?
A burning in the chest and throat. I was getting it so bad it kept me up and I was having a stinging pain in between my shoulder blades. It was terrible. Tums did nothing for me. I take Prevacid every day (ok'd by dr) and it works wonders. Heartburn was my first clue that I may be pregnant.
I've struggled with it my whole life! Don't eat before bed, drink milk, take tums, sleep with your head propped up. Some things that can make heartburn worse, acidic foods, greasy foods, eating a lot at once, being constipated, caffeine, chocolate and foods with a high salt content or fat content! Drink water but not too much because that can too actually cause heartburn.
4 weeks left until our little boy will be here, and I am pretty sure I am pregnant with a Dragon he is causing the worst heartburn ever!!! Any ideas or tips other than tums and zantac?
Yes , tums are ok but they dnt wrk out for me.
