My daughter also takes pentasa and WAS taking prevacid. The prevacid didn't seem to help her and our GI switched her to prilosec. My daughter has had no complaints with the prilosec. Both prevacid and prilosec have the same actions so they do the same things. The only interaction that I know of with prevacid and penicillin is with a type of penicillin called Ampicillin and it may inhibit the absorption of the prevacid.
I too woke up one night with itchy hives and super bad heart burn. My doctor treated my for ulcers and also gave me probiotics. It didn't help at all. Heart burn came even with the anti-acid medicine. I googled my symptoms and also, like someone else on this thread came up with a food related allergy. I think I am histamine intolerant. Certain food with histamine puts the body in an overload state and reacts with heartburn. Google it...
And it was only once then. It just happened so suddenly, I was breathing find and then I lie down and immediately begin experiencing problems. I also have terriible posture and spend 5+ hours a day using the computer, sitting not up straight in a chair, not sure if that has anything to do with it either.
) (3) Liver Metabolic Issue - perhaps my liver is just overwhelmed given the strain from the medications or the diabetes or something, and the enzymes are just not up for the challenge anymore; 4) Rosacea (but this is new and all over) or (5) Drug reaction - but this new alcohol reaction did not start just after taking any of these drugs (though i have not been on these drugs very long).
I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and have finished my course of antibiotics, however I'm still on Prevacid. I developed a rash on my forehead about two days into treatment, and it's still there. I thought at first it was the Amoxicillin, but I finished that about a week ago, and the rash is still there. Could the rash be from Prevacid?
That is interesting because I was taking Prevacid and also noticed an increase in PAC's. Its still to early for me to tell if that was the culprit because my Palps have a mind of their own and can last as long as a week at times. For now though I have stopped the Prevacid to see if that helps. I also take fish oil which I've heard can help palps but I've also read that they can worsen them, who knows? Keep us posted!
On two or three occasions now I have had one or two drinks followed by a short-lived epside of difficulty breathing, wheezy feeling of short noneffective breath (lasts for 5 or 10 minutes), then my face feels warm, and soon enough splotches of warm, red skin particularly over my face, neck, and it seems to reach down splotchy across my chest, back, arms, and on my knees. It is also accompanied by a rapid heartrate of about 120 or 130 bpm.
I had a Barium Swallow, and reflux was found, but no hiatal hernia was found. She prescribed Prevacid, which I have been taking for several months now, and said I should take a Pepcid AC before exercise.
This method has been working much better than anything tried before. But I feel like I am completely dependent on the Pepcid for relief (as it gives me far more relief than my rescue inhaler). I'm not sure how much is too much of the Pepcid.
HI, I am a 27 year old female who was diagnosed with gastroparesis and gerd in 2007. I have been on 30mg of Prevacid daily for almost 4 years now and just recently have been having terrible symptoms again with gerd. I saw my GI specialist and he recommended I start taking reglan again because the gastroparesis might be causing the reflux.
Last week I was diagnosed with a duodenal ulcer and am taking Amoxicillin, Biaxin and Prevacid. I am one week into treatment and feel only marginally better.
My question is about stomach tenderness. Is a tender stomach normal with a peptic ulcer? My entire stomach area, from just below my breasts, down to my navel, is very tender to the touch. When touched it produces like a burning/stinging/bruised feeling. Depending on the day, or time of the day, the pain is greater or less.
(i had two different doctor check up before having all the test) and when im dont on my 14 days drinking prevacid its never been severe and not everyday pain. so i decided not to go back.. after 3 weeks i have all the pain again... especially if i eat something like coffee or tea. and i try to drink prevacid to help the pain and it work out after 30 minutes.
i would like to know what the best thing to do and what are the food i should be concious of eating..
ve never tried Domperidone, but the only meds that helped me were Nexium or Kapidex taken twice daily. I tried prevacid and it was very brief because it just didn't work for me :(
Also, I use to take one Kapidex/Nexium PLUS some Amitriplyn, but I knocked the amitriplyn out of my regimen. Either way, it offered more good days then bad.
My allergist has not prescibed cortisone because it is only a short term solution and the hives usually come back with a vengence. I am presently controlling my Hives with 10 mg of Zyrtec and then 50 mg of Benadryl, both taken at night. Here is a list of potenial hive aggravating foods and medications: beer, berries, chocolate, citrus, nuts, shellfish, tomatoes, wine. Medications: Aspirin, Non-steroidal/ antiinflammatory drugs (such as Alleve, Advil, etc), and codeine preparations.
My palms and forearms are breaking out in VERY itchy hives. The hives that appear on my palm are actually under the skin and scratching does not allieviate the itching. Icing the spots and liquid antihystamines offer only temporary relief. Along with the hives, random fingers have been getting stiff and are difficult to bend. The pain goes away in one day, but the pain seems to jump to other fingers.

Head ache is one of the commonly reported side effect of PPIs. Rashes can also occur.
Regarding the relief from symptoms, you need certain life style modifications in addition to taking PPI for complete relief.

1. Head elevation while sleeping
2. Small frequent meals
3. Going to bed 2- 3 hours after food
4. Avoiding bed time snacks
5. Avoiding smoking and alcohol
6. Avoiding tight fitting clothes
