I am a male in his late 40's with a history of Tourette's Syndrome (mostly head and neck tics - sometimes pretty severe) and cervical osteoarthritis affecting C-4 and C-5 with a bone spur. At various times (and depending on posture or activity) I can hear/feel popping, cracking, crunching and grinding noises/sensations in my neck. My symptoms vary in type and severity depending on many factors such as posture, time of day, engaging in different activities, etc.

The only medication that has ever worked for me without increasing chest pain and pressure making breathing had is Prevacid at 40 mg strengh to heal and control acid. Also a upper chest xray from the front and side may show a hiatal hernia. How was it determined you have mild acid? I was told that after a PH probe test. However, like you my problem came and went. It took a third PH test that the Dr.
I also took Prevacid for years and Nexium and every upper endoscopy I had revealed numerous polyps in my stomach. I had a nissen fundoplication done in 2001 and stopped taking the proton pump inhibitors. On my EGD in 2002 they were all gone. He said they could have been related to the medication.
Now, I feel like a million bucks, have all kinds of energy, and no heart palpitations. The arthritis is backing off, sore-to-the-touch ankles are improving and so are my knee joints. All sorts of things are improving. The Metoprolol actually turned out to be a miracle because it pointed out the wheat sensitivity. So, my point in all of this is, have you looked at food or other possible allergies that could be magnified by taking the Metoprolol?
That is how I saw it with my son many yrs ago when he had severe reflux and people didn't even know what that word was 9yrs ago let alone the drug Zantac or Prevacid!!!! Also when my girls had arthritis as children .. they'd ask how they were doing but really didn't care. And then there was me. Well, I certainly learned fast my schoolyard (I have kids in 3/4th grades) acquaintences from my true friends. I think your mom is scared.
I am no longer on the Immuran, instead I am taking Humira injections every 2 weeks, along with the Asacol and folic acid as well as Prevacid for the acid reflux. (Because I have had to take so many steroids in the past I also have osteoporosis as well.) The Humira seems to be preventing the stomach problems but I have been getting terrible sores in my mouth, which makes it difficult to eat, brush my teeth, etc.
In 1996, had a mysterious, bullseye rash on each thigh, and each buttock. I tested negative for Lyme disease, lupus, and HIV. In 1998, I had dull, but severe pain in left arm and severe anxiety, sweating, and breath shortness for a couple hours. I recovered and didn't see a doctor then. Shortly after that, I developed an occasional very strong palpitation, only one at a time, about once a week. Then, a couple times, I had long runs of them for hours.
To be completely honest, I have been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis recently and am taking Methotrexate (weekly), anti-inflammatories, prevacid and folic acid (daily). I associated the hip pain with that, even though my rheumy x-rayed the joint and found nothing. However, I am concerned with the cyst and symptoms, and since my OB/GYN is not available to calm those fears, my thoughts are racing. Should I be concerned?
tightness in knees, especially behind knee, joint pains, arthritis, loss of muscle mass, neck pain and tension, muscle weakness, edema in feet and ankles, dry skin. My doctor is starting me on 1/2 dosage strength of Synthroid and building it up in dosage over the next 21 days to finally arrive at .1 MG RX. Then we will retest from there. My life has been a nightmare with this. The main control I had been using was light doses of Ibuprofien.
2) abnormally brisk knee-jerk reflexes (4/5+) w/ clonus; and 3) moderate arthritis in my spine (which they said is 'pretty rare' for a 33 year-old). Otherwise, no lesions, no tumors, no infectious diseases--all good. So I thought, OK, I'll just live my life. Most of the symptoms, except constantly tingling feet, occasional blurry vision, some coordination issues and sudden dizzy spells, have subsided.
I take Zoloft, Prevacid, Arthrotec, Bumex, Potassium, Singular and just recently Adavan, and Pred. I work as a Vet Tech at a small Animal Hospital. I am very concerned that I will not be able to do my duties at the job I love. I am very weak and get confused easily, which is not like me at all. When I get tired or the phone rings a lot I start with the tremor. I have appointments with my Neuro Dr. in 4 weeks and a Gastro Dr. in 3. What else can I do? Should I be more concerned?
I am morbidly obese with Intracranial Hypertension as well as Rheumatoid Arthritis, sleep apnea, GERD, asthma and several other annoying issues.

I've begun bleeding from acid reflux at night so she's watching that and will do testing on my esophagus to see if there's erosion or ulcers forming, adjusting prevacid as needed and adding another medication if indicated. I go back in two weeks and begin discussing a diet with a Dietician/Nutritionist since I have to lose weight before November when they begin more fluid replacement injections.
both were negative. they gave me prevacid to take..i've been taking it for 4 days and no change. does that eliminate any of your theories or would the blood work not detect the bacteria that your talking about? a coworker told me it could be acid refulx? but i dont have heartburn..just nausea.. also, with the diet that you suggested...im not sure i understand, do i want to be bloated? because you said if bloating improves? thanks again for the reply.
I am a 27 year old Canadian woman who has been living and working in Japan for the last 2 1/2 years. For the last year and a half I've been having a lot of problems with gastritis and reflux and I can't seem to get rid of them. I first noticed the symptoms last year when I felt a terrible burning in my stomach and had a lot of belching and heartburn after I ate. I had an upper GI X-ray done and there wasn't anything wrong except for excess acid production.
she is borderline dehydrated and nauseated and taking Prevacid and white/green/grey in color .... she is not vomiting which is good news but weak and sleeping and bad cramps. Her Dr. prescribed Levbid (anti-spasmodict) which really isn't doing anything but making her feel more nauseated and dizzy. I am giving her ice chips ... I'm concerned .... any ideas, hints? I know many of you on the board have it so I hope you don't mind me reaching out to my friends vs.
Also developed sharp shooting pain upper Left back and sometimes in LUQ. Went to emergency room and had CT of ABD/Pelvis with contrast. Normal. I am terrified I have Pancreatic Cancer. Is this possible I am 53 year old female. Told by 1 MD I have psoriatic arthritis I think I have Fibromyalgia.
I think the back thing may be more related to arthritis, but someone told me that if you have an ulcer, you can sometimes feel it in your back. I am going to physical therapy for my back stiffness and have begun Prevacid for the burning/heartburn/acid reflux problem. Will be on this for 8 weeks. To date, I have had no upper GI series or scopes. Just the tests mentioned above. I guess I need to give this a few weeks to see if it clears up. My doctors don't think it's anything to worry about.
My Tourettes causes me to jerk my head back and forth and side-to-side many times each day and as you can imagine, this is not good when you have cervical arthritis and a bone spur. I can sometimes hear a crack or pop when my Tourettes is really bad or when I turn my head to far the wrong way.
Usually my jaw hurts along with it and the pain comes on randomly and has been going on before I even started taking Synthroid. I have been on Prevacid, it didn't work, then they had me take Metoclopramide 10mg that gave me diarrhea and made me tired all the time so I got taken off that and they put me on Aciphex.20mg I've been on that almost a month now, and its working a little on the nausea in the mornings, but does nothing for the pains.
I've been having a lot of stomach problems from NSAIDS and my doctor gives me Pantaloc and it really helps.
acid reflux and vocal cords being swollen, red, inflammed AND BILATERAL vocal Cord Nodules on my daughter who had these for 2 yrs before the ENT put it all together and scripted Prevacid for a year and after 8 mos the nodules on her cords were GONE!!!!! In her case you don't have to feel the hot stuff coming up ..
I also have this. I take Prevacid. I constantly have a post-nasal drip from allergies and along with the acid reflux, it does drive me nuts. I'm not a doctor, but these are my ideas...just things to check out.
The ER physician didn't think it was heart related and gave me a GI cocktail and prescription to Prevacid. Over the next 5 months, I've never had that extreme pain again. I switched from Prevacid to Zantac. I still get that constant ache, but not in the morning. I can make the pain come if I lean forward too far or push my shoulders inward. It sometimes comes if I take a very deep breath.
I was diagnosed with gastritis a year ago and told to take PrevAcid...but my copay for it is $100 for 30 pills. I am supposed to take it twice a day, so that means $200 a month. I simply cannot afford it and so have been going without for about 9 months. Yes, it's painful, but I've learned to deal with it. I went to my primary care doc because I was having severe pain/stiffness in my hands.
Post surgery I had a few complications including nerve damage in my leg and pelvic arthritis. I was on percocet lyrica and cymbalta. Once the nerve damage got better I stopped the lyrica and cymbalta. After going back to work after surgery, I was afraid of taking percocet (im a teacher) so the dr gave me tramadol. 2 weeks ago I had steroidal injections in my pelvis and asked for something stronger because the tramadol wasnt working.
My daughter at age 10 had a small ulcer and had the hunger pangs and gained 1lb a week. Prevacid healed it with Carafate and she is fine, but did gain 1-2lbs week which at the time was written off as lack of exercise due to an arthritis condition which was the culprit in itself causing the ulcer (anti-inflammatory meds!!!!).
I have been on Mobic for 2yrs 15mg (labs drawn ev. 6 mos and kidney ok) for a severe tibial tendonitis/arthritis of the ankle ... I cannot live w/o the med due to the pain but oftentimes get some GI side effects and also if taken too close to my Synthroid (thyriod issues) I get very tired and/or anxiety .... As I ramble .. I guess I'm wondering if ANYBODY out there has seen success with this new patch and what you think about it .... Big Zero for me.
