467493 tn?1229895239 I am almost 11 weeks and I have had he WORST acne of my life since I found out I was pregnant! I know a lot of acne medications are not to be used durring pregnancy, but I am desperate! Is there something any of you have used safely while pregnant? Any ideas, or anyone with the same problem?
Avatar n tn Hi, Acne needs to be assessed so it may be graded. The more complicated the acne, the more that topical medications may not be able to help. Do you know a dermatologist in the area? Some forms of acne require injections and surgery. An experienced dermatologist will be the best person to do this.Do not pick on your pimples.Only use medications that were prescribed by a physician . Some dermatologists may ask you to change your soaps and shampoo. The water may also play a role.
507322 tn?1210791006 I thought it could be caused by the acne medications I was on... Seeing how I never had this problem before going on medications. It has only been a month and 1 week that I have been off all medications now. Will this flushing go away if I continue to stay off medications and allow my body the time to recover and return back to normal? I'm scared to death this wont ever go away. But It does make sense to me that my body should eventually go back to the way it always was before. Right??????
Avatar n tn Diet plays a major role in acne. I know, my son used everything on the market and tried just about all th e prescription meds and so far the only things that have helped him is everythng I have told you. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn Sometimes we need something stronger than just the regular over the counter acne treatments and they can discuss with you better ways to help clear up your face. They can also give you a prescription for something that can work better for you. Hope it goes well.
492921 tn?1321289896 I know that acne is a pretty common occurance in pregnancy and there is nothing over the counter that you can use. I got a prescription for some stuff I haven't picked it up yet so I can't tell you what it is. I will let you know when I get it.
Avatar m tn I have am bipolar also, I have been on many prescription medications and find they are only temporary, and only lead to more prescription meds. I think depression is a sign saying we need to change something in our life, for me it was my health, so I take tons of different vitamins for mood stabilization and depression, and a long hard workout for sleep(and they work).

Avatar m tn Thanks for the response Grace. I understand that Valtrex is better at reducing transmission and that there is a generic version now. 1) Is the generic version as good as the original? 2) Do you know what the cost per month is for either the original and the generic for someone without insurance?
Avatar f tn I have a 17 year old son who continues to have moderate acne despite several trips to the dermatologist. We have tried several prescription medications with no relief. He has been on a course of antibiotics as well as many topical creams. We have also tried ProActiv w/ no relief. I DO NOT want to put my son on Accutane. Can anyone offer any advise?

Avatar f tn Hi. Acne is no longer just a teenage problem. Here in the Uk the average age for acne has now risen above 30 for the first time. Avoid using heavy moisturisers as this can add to the problem. The best over the counter remedy for spots is, in my experience, Freederm. However, prescription medications are often much more beneficial. Talk to your doctor to see if oral or topical antibiotics could help you, and also ask about hormonal solutions.
Avatar m tn I had acne that developed as an adult and found out after spending tons of money on dermatologist visits, OTC and prescription medications that I was vitamin D defiicient and that was the cause of my acne. (While in school I drank vitamin D fortified milk and got enough sun to provide my body with D). Once I was put on prescription vitamin D the acne and skin cysts disappeared almost immediately.

Avatar n tn I have been having this random cluster of red acne like spots on the upper middle of my back. I'm not sure if it's acne or a rash from my laundry detergent? I've been using benzoyl peroxide acne cream but it's still there. It used to be raised a little like acne but now its all flat.
Avatar n tn A steroid shot might help ease the itching and he may prescribe a prescription topical cream that is better than the over the counter medications. Hope this helps. Please get checked out to make sure that this is not something more serious.
Avatar m tn The key is to find a regimen that works for you to keep acne at bay, instead of treating it when it appears and then letting it go and then breaking out again-only to repeat the cycle. Drinking lots of water does help a lot too. I also go for steam cleansing once in a while to clean my pores. Another thing that works beautifully for me are chemical peels. Ive tried dermabrasion, glycolic acid peels, aha peels and salicylic acid peels- theyve helped greatly in reducing scars.
Avatar n tn A complete evaluation of your acne problem is necessary. Other options may be available for acne treatment. The severity and extent of your acne has to be considered here. There are certain factors to consider when using accutane. This includes pregnancy , use of other medications and psychiatric side effects .
Avatar m tn but will say our estimated 11 year old Westie was put down rather than undergo surgery and chemo for a suspected cancerous tumor that had ruptured his intestine. This work was done by a Critical Care Vet at an 24/7 animal hospital with full ER services. In my limited knowledge dogs can not be given human pain meds.. why? I don't know, that's my recollection of past reading... and the fact we always have had prescription pain medication from the vet when our dogs need it.
1049841 tn?1254306821 If you want to play with these alternative substances stop using prescription drugs first as they DO NOT mix.
