I had my hysterectomy uterus and ovaries removed in 2012. I took just premarin until 2015 and then stopped. I quit the estradoil and earlier this week I went back to my old Gyn and told him about the symptoms I am having. Insomnia is the worst, anxiety, depression. He put me back on premarin .625. I have been taking this for three days now. He mentioned about the progesterone for sleep but was wanting to wait and see how I do with just the premarin. I gave it two days still poor sleep.

Your doctor prescribed Premarin with NO progesterone, and you still have your uterus? Are you still having periods? What did your gyn say about this?
I'm no doctor, but prescribing estrogen with no progesterone to a woman with a uterus sounds contrary to everything I've read. Back in the 70's they did this all the time.
in 84 and was on vivelle patch for most of those years. Just estrogen and no progesterone. I was fine until a few years ago and it just got worse. I became so estrogen dominant and became a total mess. I went to a very good hormone imbalance seminar a few days ago and it was great. I think if you went off, you'll regret it in time. There are so many symptoms with low or no hormone production.
I was assured it was a small dose and not for a long enough time to be concerned. And the second pill was a progesterone ( sorry wrote the wrong pill type) to help return my AF.
Yes we were using protection.....I am just paranoid. I am oversees and he thinks I should just wait an other week and come in ASAP when I return home.
My doc tested my progesterone level and it was 3.0. He put me on Clomid 100 mg and Premarin 0.3 mg. The next blood test my progesterone level was 0.9. Now he has put me on Metformin 500 mg twice a day. I am not over weight, in fact I am almost under weight. I was just wondering if anyone else had had their progesterone level drop the second month or if anyone had any advice.
Hello: hoping somebody can help me. I have been on Premarin.625mg for 7 months and did very well. Before that, I had tried everything else with very little improvement. Before Premarin I was having hot flashes, anxiety, and terrible insomnia. After the first few days of taking Premarin, I began to notice great improvement. My hot flashes went away and insomnia disappeared. I had a few bumps along the way but then everything balanced out. Now, the old symptoms have returned with a vengeance.
I don't want to quote anything I've read, but after putting in "Premarin and Hypothyroidism" and "Progesterone and Hypothyroidism", the articles I've read indicate that Premarin prevents the thyroid from working properly, and Progesterone cream is beneficial. I just wanted to mention this because it may be of help. I am going to look into it further myself.
I have been on estrogen replacement since my surgery in 1998. I still have moderate-severe hot flashes and they seem to be getting more intense with age.
I switched from oral Premarin which covered me pretty well but I didn't want to be taking pills the rest of my life. Since then I have tried a variety of patches that are really not very effective on a regular basis and very expensive. At my age, what do you recommend. Is Premarin dangerous (risk of DVT).
These are specific blends to each individual and they have got to be properly balance for the individual to maintain wellness and ward off disease and counter act with human progesterone and testosterone for balance.
I am not on HRT nor have I had surgery - but recently I was found estrogen dominant by specific labs that aren't commonly used. I am still in the beginning stages of balancing progesterone and estrodiol to maintain my wellness.
I did the saliva test, and results came back that I am estrogen dominant and dhea and prog. and test very low. So they pharmacist started me on 5 mg of dhea and also a progest. cream. I was good for 4 days and thought I found the cure. Until just last Wed all the way until today...that is 6 days....I started with severe cramps, pain in lower back, almost as if I was getting my menstrual cycle. Then came the Diarrhea and I am not talking one time....
I recently had a total hysterectomy. I was about 4 years post menopausal and had mild hot flashes. After the hysterectomy my hot flashes are worse which doesn't make sense to me. I'm wondering about using progesterone cream. Anyone have a similar experience? I'm 60 years old and in otherwise good health. I'm not on any prescription medications.
And the use of progesterone does seem to be more problematic in dosing to both protect and prevent breakthrough bleeding or spotting. And over-the-counter progesterone cream has been shown to not be effective at protecting the lining when taking estrogen.
So she told me to have a Premarin 0.625MG and deviry 10MG. Premarin should take from 5th Day till 25st Day and Deviry from 19th till 25th .. After three month the size of uterus has not increased much so Dr suggested us to have 2 Premarin . But she is not having her period from last three Months.
Could you please suggest whether she took Deviry 10Mg to get her period back..

My estrodiol - progesterone levels were checked and I was put in a compound RX of progesterone cream that eliminated this for me completely.
I am estrogen dominant - per this doc - and since I started the treatment I feel so much different.
they said, soooo I had my 3 month follow up with a new Dr, I told him what was going on and explained that she (former gyn) gave mne premarin to try... he seems puzzled why that Dr would only give me Premarin and not give me progesterone with it..stating that taking it alone increases risk of UC.!! I am like?!!?!? Say what?! So he gave me Provera 10mg for 10 days and tells me to stop taking Premarin.
After 2 days of taking Prempro I decided not for me. I think I need Progesterone and would like to know if others use the cream and what brand. Or any advice appreciated. Thank- you.
I have been supplementing with natural progesterone creme for years and it has made a huge difference. You may want to have your levels checked and supplement with natural stuff. They also can do bio -dentical hormones just don't go on premarin it causes cancer and weight gain. But then so does too much estrogen.
You really need sleep it is so very important for everything so try this but be patient it takes time.
It has taken care of the flashes and sweats even better than the Premarin had, and unlike the Premarin, it has really helped with my mood swings, depression and other emotional issues.
