507935 tn?1217359454 So, I'm not old enough to have certain types of arthritis (being only 21) nor have I had any injuries that would cause arthritis (aka, I don't have arthritis) yet I'm still experiencing joint pain and I've been off prednisone for over 7 months and only been on azathioprine. It's not bad pain, I just can't put pressure on my palms, other then that, I never notice it. My GI told me it was probably just tendonitis (which is bull).
507935 tn?1217359454 When I came off it, my joint pain returned and my rheumy said that was normal and was 'probably' a side effect from the withdrawl. He said it should go away a few weeks after being totally off the pred. I hope this is true for you.
Avatar f tn I have been having a lot of pain in my legs, back, hands and arms. Ibprofen and other things don't seem to help it. I do not know how to make if feel better. Some of it is in the muscles that are extremely tight and others seem like joint pain. Just wondering. My doctors won't prescribe anything else. I have tried Lyrica and a bunch of arthritis meds. Again I am undiagnosed so they are also trying to figure out what I have.
1797277 tn?1315628907 i hv joint pain in hands and feet joints in wrist and ankled i m v worry after treatment it increase its start 4rm one year ago but from last 3 month it z v painfull nd nw it unbearable
Avatar m tn I agree with others you need to see a rhemy. I too had joint pain after tx and the flare-ups got worse. Hard to get up and in pain in the morning, not sleeping etc. My rhemy watched me for about a year before he decided I had fibromyalgia, obviously a sx of tx. So now I have 2 awful sx for life. I am taking Lyrica now for the pain and it works great for the pain. It is for nerve pain and has it's sx, but so far I like it.
Avatar f tn I have chronic osteoarthritis through my whole body including my spine, plus other bone abnormalities. I have had chronic pain since I was 12 (18 yrs ago). Doctors have never taken my pain seriously until recently when I was properly diagnosed. I am now on Endep, Lyrica and Gabapentin which together helps with all my nerve pain. But even strong pain killers didn't help with my joint and back inflammation.
Avatar f tn m in a good bit of pain - knees, wrists and elbows and of course the TMJ - then I take prednisone and usually by early afternoon I feel much better. From what I've read Crohn's can cause temporary arthritis that goes away as the inflammation in the colon goes away. I guess my question is can I expect this to continue for a while? Am I going to be in pain all the time after I stop taking steroids? I'll be done in 2 weeks.
2048234 tn?1330814100 Ok Yall I am having really bad joint, leg and back pain and I very well could be freaking myself out but could it be a reaction to the prednisone? I am also on 50 mgs isnt that a lot???
902019 tn?1249861414 Hi. I have autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) for which I am now on Imuran (azathioprine) after unsuccessfully eradicating it with several tries on prednisone. Although Imuran is often used to treat AIH, it's only a last resort with AIP as there is no data as yet proving it effective with AIP. I have however on this site heard from other AIP patients who have done well on Imuran and my gastroenterologist agreed that under the circumstances it was worth a try.
Avatar n tn Recently he started having a lot of joint pain. Now his ankles and feet are swelling. His sugar levels are doing great. We have been to the doctor and he has had several test done. Everything is coming back good. Has anyone had these same symptoms? He is taking Metformin and I am wondering if this has anything to do with this.
Avatar m tn I resently injured my low back cycling and after the low back pain went away I ended up with pain on my right SI joint and sciatica in my lower leg. It's been almost 2 weeks and since then I've had a chiropractic adjustment and a course of Prednisone. I'm still in pain and unable to run or cycle. Walking is difficult. My doctor thinks my glute and piriformis muscles are overly tight and clamping down on my sciatic nerve, but no amount of stretches or muscle relaxers help.
Avatar f tn Since then the same type on pain has moved all over my body. From my hips, hands, wrists, fingers, knees, feet, and now it is in my right shoulder. So bad in the shoulder that I can not lift my arm to use it. I am trying to do everything left handed because the pain is so sever!! I have been to doctors and have had blood work done. Everything came back normal. If you have any idea's please help. I can not funtion like this. It is never in the same joint.....
Avatar f tn I am taking high dosage of prednisone so now I can at least move but the swelling and pain lasted over a week. this is all so scary. Any ideas or comments about what I have?
975514 tn?1324997938 I have hashimotos "hypothyroid" and I was on Prednisone for neck pain "twice" within a month.. Both times i took high dosages and was tappered over only a week and I had a HORRIBLE time coming off of it.... I don't know if it was from thyroid or not because i had never been on it prior to thyroid but i know that people that don't even have thyroid problems can have a hard time coming off of it.. so who knows...
Avatar n tn how is you appatite are you fatigued or is it just the joint pain, have you been bitten by anything recently any unusual happenings.
Avatar f tn Thank you! Unfortunately, there are only three treatment options at this point given the combination of health issues which involve suppressing the immune system and chemo that would have to be repeated at least once a year for the rest of my life (to treat the MGUS). MGUS can cause deterioration of bones and make a person more prone to fractures, especially in the hip area, which is why the doctors are wondering what came first, the RA or the MGUS, also known as the chicken or the egg!
1024532 tn?1380058352 I have been tested for RA and thyroid. Gave me a shot in joint of cortizone and I had bad reactions and still swollen and red. I went to ER Monday and they gave me Vicodin for pain. Has anyone else had similar symptons and still negative results on blood work for rhmeutoid arthritis? Any help would be appreciated. I have been to 5 doctors now. I have not worked for 2 months. Have checked my only kidney as well.
Avatar n tn They will not give this to me again due to the harshness of it and potential side effects. Anyone else had this severe pain and if so what did they do or take. I am taking supplements to help. Many thanks.
Avatar n tn Hi all. This place sure looks different from the last time I was here... I was wondering if any of you had had the opportunity to have your blood levels of vitamin d tested, and if so how many of you were deficient? I ask because I sort of took myself off the cellcept I was on and only continued with 5 mg of prednisone for almost a year. Of course I progressively felt worse until I went back to my primary and asked for a refferal to a different GI doc.
1171018 tn?1263352159 In July I started weening off of it. I was completely off by Oct.This is when sharp pain started like nerve pain in every joint radiation and seemed to proceeed to the next joint. This only happened when I was (trying) to sleep or quiet for awhile in a chair ect. At first it lasted about 1hr in the morning after I started moving around. They put me on xanax to help me sleep and Lyrica that seems to help.
Avatar m tn Muscle/joint pain and weakness is a known side effect of prednisone (methylprednisolone), however it is one that should be reported to your doctor. They would be the ones to make the determination whether you should continue on the medication or if you need to stop taking it. Best of luck and please let me know what you find out.
Avatar f tn i get that in my whole arms and legs, its like a constant throbing pain and it never goes away unless i take pain relief. i have seen an rheumatologist and she said she could not find anything, i also have had a bone scan and nothing has come up. the rheumatologist said that my vitamin D was low and i need vitamin D injection an that might help. apart from that they dont know what is causing it.
Avatar f tn Hi there, I just want to say that I feel sorry that you are going through so much pain. I am currently on 40mg Prednisone, and I get a week break every 3weeks, and every time the drug stops, the pain kicks in and the lump grows. Which also make me doubt that I will ever break free from the drug. My doctors would not consider surgery either, they don't even seem to like to consider it as an auto-immune disease, or try any other method of overcoming this.
Avatar m tn ON JUNE 25,2012 I STARTED C/O OF JOINT PAIN, FEVER,HAIR LOSS AND FATIGUE. I AM FLARING AND BACK ON PREDNISONE. I AM 67Y/O AND HAVE RA AS WELL. I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH LUPUS 4 YEARS AGO.
982333 tn?1305788889 I currently have " Undiagnosed Joint Pain". I am seeing a doctor and am in the midst or working through blood tests and what not, to determine the cause of my joint pain. From the way things are looking, She indicated I probably have Rheumetoid Arthritis. In the meantime, until a diagnosis is confirmed I have tried a few different medications to help me get through the day. Yet, none of them are helping... I have tried Prednisone, which was terrible and made me feel a lot worse.
Avatar n tn She had a bladder infection and was just finishing an antibiotic when her rash showed up it quickly turned into severe joint pain and hives. The joint pain would migrate from one spot to another. One day she can not walk and bend her knees the next she seems to be fine. We are going to meet with a rhumetoid specialist tomorrow. I would like to know what outcomes you experienced with your son.
Avatar f tn I am 27, and I feel much too young to feel this darn old. My ordeal began in about November 2009 (almost 9 months now!) It all started out of the blue, I woke up one day with joint pain EVERYWHERE! Within a couple days after many hot baths, heating blankets and ibuprofen, I saw my family doctor. This was when that swine flu was going around so I was concerned I was coming down sick as the pain felt much like those pesky body aches you get when you have a cold or the flu, but worse.
507935 tn?1217359454 The liver specialist we are seeing said that for most patients with drug induced AIH, symptoms go away after short course (a few months) of prednisone. He tried that but after going off of it, his joint pain did come back and his elevated liver enzymes were still very high. He was put back on prednisone and then eventually Imuran as well. As we upped the Imuran from 50mg to 100, to 150mg, he has very slowly reduced prednisone.
930657 tn?1244400059 You could try other things but I imagine they would only help with the pain and not necessarily the joint degeneration. With the drugs they can halt or slow down joint and organ damage.
