Avatar f tn I have chronic osteoarthritis through my whole body including my spine, plus other bone abnormalities. I have had chronic pain since I was 12 (18 yrs ago). Doctors have never taken my pain seriously until recently when I was properly diagnosed. I am now on Endep, Lyrica and Gabapentin which together helps with all my nerve pain. But even strong pain killers didn't help with my joint and back inflammation.
2048234 tn?1330814100 If you are on it for an extended period of time it can cause some withdrawal symptoms just like any other steroid. My wife was on it for over a month and she had no side effects when she stopped taking it. Take it for a week to treat the pneumonia. You'll be fine.
507935 tn?1217359454 It took 3 months to diagonised and had severe joint pain the entire time. She took the prednisone for about 6 weeks. Her joint pain went away and blood work came back normal. SHe gained alot of weight during the short period so refuses to take it. Her blood work is normal but has mild joint pain everyday and extremely severe about once a week. The GI doctor also says she cant take the prednisone so much because of her age.Can anyone give us some suggestions?
Avatar f tn I know that joint pain is a side effect of taxol, however, could this have caused the knee and back pain that i have been experiencing for the last four and a half years? I needed to be pre-medicated with benadryl and prednisone due to a reaction i had shortly after my first taxitier treatment. Does my body reacting adversely to the chemo in the first place cause more severe side effects? I'm curious to know because i have had lumbar pain and knee pain ever since my chemotherapy.
Avatar m tn Cyclosporine may cause muscle pain, joint pains, heartburn etc. These two drugs form the mainstay of treatment. These side effects may gradually ware off. A low-salt diet and diuretics may help with swelling in the hands and legs. Low-protein diets may be helpful. A moderate-protein diet approximately 1 gram of protein per kilogram of body weight per day may be suggested. Discuss your concerns with your nephrologist.I hope it helps. Best of luck and kind regards!
Avatar m tn Are you on any other Meds such as Statins or Blood Pressure Meds? I had to quit taking both because of bad side effects. Muscle and Joint Pain was the main side effects. Statins are a wonder drug for cholesterol but not everyone can take them.
Avatar m tn moon face, high blood pressure, profuse sweating, irratibility, inability to deal with stress, and that is not including the side effects I get to look forward to in the next 10-15 years. I hate it so much that I have started weaning myself off of it with out my Dr's guidance. I just can't take it anymore! The imuran was working really well but they had to suspend it for a while because of adverse effects.
Avatar n tn They will not give this to me again due to the harshness of it and potential side effects. Anyone else had this severe pain and if so what did they do or take. I am taking supplements to help. Many thanks.

18894824 tn?1469465363 Even though you were on this med before and did fine you can go back on a med and have side effects. Or, side effects can show up at any time with any med. The weight gain is from the steroid, not from being inactive. My sister has to take a steroid sometimes and when she does she can put on a great deal of weight in no time. Humira comes with a long list of possible side effects. I really think this is what your Dr should be looking in to.
Avatar n tn Regarding the use of Gabapentin, you are regularly using since last September and had you suffered similar pains any time in the course of taking the drug? Although it has side effects as any other medicine, joint pain is not among the common or usual ones. You need to consult your attending doctor who had prescribed Gabapentin and update him of the possibility of the joint pains due to taking the drug. Are you been regularly followed up for your thigh pain? How is the pain presently?
Avatar f tn I am also diabetic @ bood sugars are higher than usual is this a side effect of prednisone, have 3 more days on prednisone should I stop?
975514 tn?1324997938 I have hashimotos "hypothyroid" and I was on Prednisone for neck pain "twice" within a month.. Both times i took high dosages and was tappered over only a week and I had a HORRIBLE time coming off of it.... I don't know if it was from thyroid or not because i had never been on it prior to thyroid but i know that people that don't even have thyroid problems can have a hard time coming off of it.. so who knows...
Avatar n tn Recently he started having a lot of joint pain. Now his ankles and feet are swelling. His sugar levels are doing great. We have been to the doctor and he has had several test done. Everything is coming back good. Has anyone had these same symptoms? He is taking Metformin and I am wondering if this has anything to do with this.
Avatar f tn m also on methotrexate which we just upped the dose on so I can slowly come off the prednisone. The side effects if steroids suck but it could always be worse. I as actually losing weight prior to prednisone I had lost 20lbs now I have just maintained my weight while busting my butt at the gym. Hopefully the prednisone is helping u and where its draining heals soon.
507935 tn?1217359454 I am really surprised Erin that they removed you from the prednisone with Lupus? When I was first diagnosed back in 2001 they called it Lupoid Hepatitis. I probably won't be able to come off the prednisone because the joints in my upper body was so bad prior to treatment that I couldn't even fasten my bra. That took at least a year after being on the prednisone & imuran before that went away & I never want that back again. I couldn't even get a coat on by myself.
Avatar n tn Those sound like normal side effects of prednisone. Nasty drug but can save a dog's life. My golden has been taking 50mg daily for 2 months and the side effects are horrible.
Avatar m tn She told me that she had taken the steroid 3 different times for life or death situations and saved her life every time but left her with this crazy side effects. She told me every time she took it, the side effects left her within 32 days exactly but for me it didn't go away for months, and I sometimes still feel weird like the side effects but my aunt said this could just be stress or my mind playing tricks but either way I don't like it.
505094 tn?1240317431 s worse), and the symptoms of Giant Cell Arteritis have gotten worse since I started on Prednisone. (sharp eye pain in both eyes now-pressure in temples, pain in temples going into the jaw). I don't know what is causing what any more. Has anyone had this cluster of diseases and had similar reactions. I do know that Prednisone can cause some of these symptoms.
1171018 tn?1263352159 In July I started weening off of it. I was completely off by Oct.This is when sharp pain started like nerve pain in every joint radiation and seemed to proceeed to the next joint. This only happened when I was (trying) to sleep or quiet for awhile in a chair ect. At first it lasted about 1hr in the morning after I started moving around. They put me on xanax to help me sleep and Lyrica that seems to help.
507935 tn?1217359454 When I came off it, my joint pain returned and my rheumy said that was normal and was 'probably' a side effect from the withdrawl. He said it should go away a few weeks after being totally off the pred. I hope this is true for you.
Avatar m tn 4M now 0. Was feeling great except last 3 days chills, severe joint pain , headache cold hands and feet. I would like to hear if others may have similar syndrome .
