Avatar n tn Those sound like normal side effects of prednisone. Nasty drug but can save a dog's life. My golden has been taking 50mg daily for 2 months and the side effects are horrible.
Avatar f tn I know it is the side effects but was wondering if anyone has any ideas for relief of it. My back hurts as well I do use a heating pad on it and sometimes it helps but the neck, shoulders, and stomach are so uncomfortable. Does anyone do anything that helps with this?
Avatar f tn I have had the surgery so it took about three weeks to heal but none of the pain every has come back and no medicines are needed at all now. Eventually carpel tunnel will get worse and when it does the steroids will not help at all. Its an out patient surgery of about two hours from start to finish. Well worth the surgery trust me.
Avatar f tn I am also diabetic @ bood sugars are higher than usual is this a side effect of prednisone, have 3 more days on prednisone should I stop?

(sharp eye pain in both eyes now-pressure in temples, pain in temples going into the jaw). I don't know what is causing what any more. Has anyone had this cluster of diseases and had similar reactions. I do know that Prednisone can cause some of these symptoms.

Avatar f tn Prednisone is a very, very powerful drug, so good and bad side effects. It shuts down your own adrenal system at anything over 5-7 mg a day I believe it is, so a whole bunch of psychiatric side effects are possible. Myself I was revved up, lots of energy, very out of it though and then horrible anxiety when they tried to taper me off - really painful. So welcome to the loonie club and we can all support each other....
Avatar f tn I have chronic osteoarthritis through my whole body including my spine, plus other bone abnormalities. I have had chronic pain since I was 12 (18 yrs ago). Doctors have never taken my pain seriously until recently when I was properly diagnosed. I am now on Endep, Lyrica and Gabapentin which together helps with all my nerve pain. But even strong pain killers didn't help with my joint and back inflammation.
Avatar f tn Hi, Thanks for responding but this didn't really answer my question. I am being treated for the headaches & ear pain w/ the Prednisone. I am wanting answers on what could be causing my headache & ear pain. I am aware of the side effects of Prednisone.
Avatar m tn She told me that she had taken the steroid 3 different times for life or death situations and saved her life every time but left her with this crazy side effects. She told me every time she took it, the side effects left her within 32 days exactly but for me it didn't go away for months, and I sometimes still feel weird like the side effects but my aunt said this could just be stress or my mind playing tricks but either way I don't like it.
Avatar n tn I've noticed that after 3 months of daily prednisone that I have developed hair on my upper lip and jaw line. Has anyone else experienced side effects like this? I don't see how it will go away on it's own. How do you treat unwanted facial hair? This is quite upsetting to me. Thanks!
2048234 tn?1330814100 If you are on it for an extended period of time it can cause some withdrawal symptoms just like any other steroid. My wife was on it for over a month and she had no side effects when she stopped taking it. Take it for a week to treat the pneumonia. You'll be fine.
1807991 tn?1438779770 My side effects from prednisone have been anxiety, panic attacks, metal taste in mouth, sound intolerance, smell intolerance, communication disability, bladder infection feeling, rashes on vagina, even started a period like during tx, ( mentapause for 6 years) ...has anybody else had anything similar happen to them when given another drug regiment or am I alone on this one?
Avatar f tn Hello Ladies I know this is TMI but had anyone had problems with constipation while on Prednisone? Ever since I started Prednisone I have had issues. Also, any back pain? Is that a symptom from using it? Thanks for taking the time to respond!
Avatar f tn I suggest you read up on the side effects really good. Not everyone has the same effects. I did not gain weight but it caused me a lot of anxiety which made me think something was wrong with me. The prednisone made me feel great, took away the pain, started to shrink my mass. I was on it for about 6 weeks all together but as soon as I started tapering off, abscesses started again.
Avatar f tn Hi again. Do you mean that you fear side effects from this dose of Prednisone that you didn't get from much larger doses of the IV? Could you say why this is? Actually, IVSM is intravenous methylprednisolone, and it's considerably stronger than just Prednisone, even at the same dosage (as I learned a few weeks ago when we had quite a discussion here about this). So you've had much more of this than you'd thought.
Avatar f tn Prednisone does have nasty side effects when taken for LONG periods of time at high doses. The 8 or 9 day taper you are on will not cause the systemic side effects that you have read about. Those are worse case scenarios and you are far from that level of usage at this point. As Erin said, the short term side effects you can expect are slight weight gain (which if you remind yourself that it is the pred and not real hunger you can avoid - I have done that), and maybe moodiness.
Avatar m tn I recently cam down with moderately bad case of poison ivy. I went to my dermatologist who was not present and was seen by the physicains assistant. She prescribed a burst of prednisone (5 days 2x20mg, 5 days 1x10mg). I took my first dose immediately (2x20mg). The rash began to subside but I don't like the side effects (insomnia) and would rather sit out the poison ivy. I wish the p.a. had discussed the potential side effects before prescriing this highly potent drug.
Avatar f tn Hi, all: Been diagnosed with SSHL (sudden sensory hearing loss) and tinnitus. I understand that the etiologies are vastly unknown but largely either viral or from ear/middle ear trauma or exposure. I've been put on antiviral Acyclovir. No problem- understand that. But the Prednisone, which of course I am taking and understand that if I don't the hearing loss on the right ear could either worsen or not return, has me a bit on edge.
Avatar f tn I agree with you - I also hate prednisone!! It does work wonders for many things, but it sure does have a lot of nasty side effects too. I've been on it many, many times in my lifetime and quite often at very high doses - my highest being 120 mg daily (yes, I did say 120!!). I hope the decrease you made was under the guidance of your doctor.
