Prednisone and grapefruit

Common Questions and Answers about Prednisone and grapefruit

Avatar n tn In many cases this protocol will hold you for an entire day without use of prednisone. If you are on prednisone and cannot breathe without it, you cannot stop without an alternative plan in place.
Avatar f tn Is there a treatment for Polymyalgia and Temporal Arteritis other than prednisone? I do not want to experience the terrible side effects of prednisone again.
Avatar f tn He is doing great! He is currently taking Prograf and predisone however they are now reducing the prednisone and using 2mg of Prograf 2x daily. Does anyone know much about Prograf ? Reading the drug info online is a little overwhelming. Wishing everyone the best...
Avatar f tn I was never told the only thing that I knew was about the grapefruit and that my sugar could go up and that I would gain weight. I did gain weight and my sugar is boardline now other wise I'm doing and feeling good.
Avatar f tn But unfortunately the damage had been done to my knees I know there's supposed to be a great doctor in New York, which is about 3 hours from Washington DC, so I may have to do that, especially since right now after two rounds of antibiotics and prednisone I still have inflammation in my sinuses and even my glands in my throat. I'll wait and see what happens. It's definitely not the flu. Thank you for your post.
Avatar n tn He also placed me on prednisone. This was awful for me. I have high blood pressure and the steroid caused me horrible problems with my blood pressure but I had started them so I had to finish them. My headache did go away while I was on the steroid. It came back once I was off both the antibiotic and the steroid.
Avatar n tn The prednisone sounds like a good idea, I think I'm going to try and find an ENT and skip my GP for now. Also, I've seen some studies online that said a lot of sinus infections were fungal, which is why antibiotics don't help. I know my doctor says this is viral, but if it was viral it wouldn't have lasted 7 months!
Avatar n tn I have been checked out by Neuro, ENT and GP and NOTHING. I'm wondering if I have TMJ but I don't know. Here are my symptoms... Right ear pain Right ear fullness/ringing Pain behind right eye spot headaches on right side grinding teeth at night stiff neck - going into my shoulders I had an MRI/MRA back in Oct and all it showed was chronic sinusitis which I am being treated for by my ENT however he knows the pain is not coming from my ear. I am worried. Could this be an aneursym?
Avatar f tn I am tired all the time, have fibromyalgia and extreme allergies to perfume, cologne, smoke and chemicals to name a few. I don't eat a lot of food but I don't eat very healthy at times either. I usually eat breakfast from 2 to 4 hours after I get up and get to sleep from 2:00 to 5:00 am. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can stop the sweet/carbohydrate cravings so I can lose weight? I am 65 yrs old, 5 ft 1 in. and 240 lbs. Please serious suggestions only!
Avatar n tn For the last 6 months I have been getting tearing (look like paper cuts) in my vaginal area (1/4 to 1/2 inch long). I get the tears at least once or twice a week and they last from 2-4 days, go away for a few days and then come back. They continue to occur in the same locations; 1. Inside the vaginal lips on the sides almost always in the crease (between the labia minora and majora?) 2. Between the anus and vaginal opening (perineum) 3. Above the clitoris in the "hood" area.
Avatar f tn In my 3rd week now and feeling really strong. Without the nasty Interferon and Ribavarin this time - I have had minimal side effects and I am so very grateful! My 2 week labs came in today and ALL of them are in normal range... including AST and ALT. Second month of the meds have been ordered and are now on their way so stay tuned for more updates as we knock out these 12 weeks of treatment.
144586 tn?1284669764 If you have respiratory issues and in an emergency must use prednisone, you should be aware there is a high liklihood of a secondary bacterial lung infection 5-10 days after going on the prednisone. Obviously, in a disaster you are not going to have access to antibiotics, but a ten day supply of Cipro wouldn't hurt to keep around. You'll know you develop the infection by the yellow pus in your lung.
1464587 tn?1307495205 I have been useing the dreaded prednisone and I still can't get this under control, doesnt seem like the prednisone has been helping for last month.I did a homepathic treatment for greif and loss called natrum muriaticum you use for 4 days, benedryl at night and sleep md for sleep, I have started vitamins for fish oil bcomplex, b6, b12, and magnesium and vitamin c to try to get this under control. I got 2 more labs done the ra came backin normal range and the ANA came back neagative this time.
Avatar n tn So far prednisone has helped me....but today's my last pill and I'm praying I won't go back to where I was, which was totally unable to function. I just keep checking this forum every day to see if somebody gets help and post what I've been doing in case it can help someone. It's caused my panic attacks which I've had for years but under control, to flare up, too. You are not alone....but no one wants to feel like this!
Avatar n tn sent me to ear, nose, throat specialist, who gave me all the nasal antihistamines and steroid sprays which didn't help. Put me on prednisone (steroid) for 12 days and finally got better, although not perfect. The fatigue, balance problems, pressure in head is gone, although I still get pain in right back of head when sleeping and still get stopped up. Been using saline irrigation, also. They are sending me for allergy tests.
Avatar m tn As far as taking Solu-Medrol with grapefruit juice, I checked with my eye dr. and my Neuro and they both say that its fine, and actually better absorbed by the liver when mixed with grapefruit juice vs OJ; although slightly. I have also read several articles by body builders on taking oral steroids with grapefruit Juice.
211940 tn?1267884866 However, he said it could NOT be causing me so much pain. He checked out my arm and noticed a hard soft tissue knot, and suggested removing it through surgery and it "might" relieve my pain. So, 3 weeks ago I had the said surgery and it was removed (a hard soft tissue mass about the size of a marble). No, this was not the cyst inside my humerus bone. Anyways, I still have the pain, and it is extremely terrible at night (on a scale of 1 to 10, a 20 at night).
Avatar f tn Creatine leveles and Protein in urine were found. The Dr. put him on a couple months of prednisone. Then just as quickly as it started it seemed to go away, (Slightly). Creatine levels went back down, protein in urine down, swelling gone except when exercising. Now its starting again, and he also has a spot on his tongue. He doesn't drink, or smoke, lactose intolerant so he drinks soy milk. What could this be.
217229 tn?1192766004 My husband hasn't treated yet, and getting 'clearance' to treat seems to be dragging on and on, and all I get from his docs when I ask about supplements/alternatives (cause though we're waiting, the virus isn't :P ! )... is 'No comment,' so I sorta put that to bed for a while... but CS's & Gauf's numbers are keeping the thought alive!
Avatar n tn I think everything is over and I clean up. I walk out of the toilet and in about 2 minutes time the stomach cramp and the fainting sensation comes back (I've fainted only once to date from this and was out for about 15-20 minutes). 6. When I get back to the toilet I have a really violent Diarrhoea episode in pure liquid state.
Avatar n tn This interaction is poorly documented and is considered moderate in severity. prednisone (in prednisone, prednisone) may interact with ESTRADIOL (in Activella) Estradiol may block the breakdown of prednisone by the liver. If this happens, blood levels of prednisone could be increased. This may cause an increase in both the intended effect and the side effects of prednisone, including stomach irritation, facial swelling, and mood changes.
Avatar f tn Nights prior to this I was waking up in the middle of the night with my fingers asleep (pinky and ring fingers on both hands). I would change postitions and go back to sleep. We flipped the mattress thinking it may be that. The next day I woke up and the buzzing is in my legs as well as my R cheek. I took a Cyclobenzaper at bedtime and it helped me get to sleep. I start to notice my legs twitcing, not the whole leg but isolated spots in my legs/certain muscles.
Avatar n tn I guess if there is a certain kind of pressure and rubing againist the hands they start to bother me and usually cold water or ice, anything cold makes it feel better. I had experienced a migraine a few days ago but I get those normally so I dont know if that has something to do with it. Any ideas on what would cause this kind of itching on the palms of the hands and feet under the skin??
Avatar n tn I came across this website and am a little relieved that find other people that understand my symptoms. I had my first episode last september and they went away after taking a short cycle of prednisone. I started with the symptoms again this january and am going crazy. i have been to and ENT and neurologist and had a MRI which came out normal. I just started taking prednisone so hopefully it works again this time, any ideas on what it could be would be helpful.
Avatar n tn on the last course of prednisone i started to feel better, but i finished that and the antibiotic on wednesday. it's saturday and i've felt like i was going to die all day. i went to the doctor this morning and they gave me an Rx for avelox, and said i should see an ENT this coming week. i'm really scared. it feels so bad. the paid is getting worse, and the foggyness in my head is really disturbing. i'm 22 and the last thing i want is to die from a sinus infection.
Avatar n tn If it came time for my next period, and it didn't show, and I was still getting negative hpt's then come in to the doc. The part that surprised me was that she said "even though those tests say they're accurate, sometimes you just don't have enough hormone in your system to show up". I said "yeah, but really, how often do you see that happen?" She said "Actually, I've seen it quite a bit".
Avatar f tn I had been on Lexapro (for anxiety as they think I had TIA in Sept 08) and was also put on prednisone in Feb for respiratory problem. He thought those were culprits to the weight gain but I was NOT convinced of that as he then put me on daily diuretic and then 2x daily for M/W/F...and after 6 wks it had not helped weight issue either. He diagnosed me as hypothyroid about 8 wks ago and I was taking 25mg of synthroid daily. After 1 wk of Synthroid I had a period...
Avatar f tn (explain that later) That's all I can recall for now, will post you what links I have when I'm on my other pc. I'll also tell you about, and you can try it, the grapefruit seed extract. It seems Witch Doctor, but I feel it really helped me. I took it orally, 10 drops per glass 3 times a day. Keep in touch.
