Common Questions and Answers about Pneumonia kinds of

pneumonia

Avatar n tn You might want to call your clinic to ask them. There are too many kinds of pneumonia for anyone to answer simply. Besides, after having pneumonia and there being a flu epidemic out there, would you really want to expose your weakened body to that?
Avatar m tn That's a lot of questions. As for whether you had a stomach flu or not, yes, it sounds like it. One thing you can do, to be sure that was what was wrong, is to visit your doc and see will he take a stool sample and test it for any virus or bacteria that is active in there, and he'll also draw blood and see what that looks like.
250701 tn?1320974765 Dang! Pneumonia can create all kinds of problems so be sure and take care of yourself so it goes away fast.
Avatar f tn Hi. What's her age? For any person over, say, 75-80 yrs old, then pneumonia can be the biggest threat of all. Pneumonia can kill an elderly person in a day. But if she was born in 1954 (as hinted from your screen name) then she has a much better chance, especially after the first day or two of crisis has passed.
Avatar m tn It may well be that you THINK the sounds are coming from your right shoulder but the kinds of sounds you describe are much more likely to be associated with gas in the stomach and intestines, some of which being able to come back into your throat and mouth.....remember...burps are noisy too.... best of luck with your concern, but it really does sound not a serious problem to me....
Avatar n tn I had pneumonia back at the beginning of this year. I did run fevers with my bout of pneumonia. Probably someone more experienced will answer your question more in detail. Everyone has different symptoms with different illnesses. This was just my experience. Hope I helped you somewhat.
710085 tn?1238023364 s one of several kinds of BOOP. My doctor disagreed and says it is an Acute Lung Injury of no currently known origin, possibly hypersensitivity pneumonitis, but on the paperwork he is calling it PF.
Avatar f tn cant get a hold of dr because of holiday.
Avatar n tn And has been said many times on this forum, there is no medical condition and no medication that delays HIV antibody or otherwise alters HIV test results. That includes all kinds of pneumonia and all the drugs used to treat it. (Potent chemotherapy may do it, but even that is theoretical without any actual known instances of it actually happening.) If indeed you have had no HIV exposures in the past 6 months, you can be sure you do not have HIV.
Avatar n tn Female age 50 ... I was being treated for pneumonia with 10 days of levaquin and lodrain 24 D. On the fifth day I started having moderate and continual pain between my sholder blades in the upper back and heartburn (no heartburn for 25 years previously) and extreme fatigue. I thought it was the pneumonia and didn't go to the doctor for five days. My blood test then showed troponin was high, doctor said I may have had a heart attack. Doctor wanted a stress test ... which showed normal.
Avatar m tn I have had atypical pneuomonia twice (mycoplasma pneumonia or walking pneumonia usually but it can be caused by chlamydia pneumonia too). Was this bout of atypical pneumonia following a influenza or cold? These are not too unusual either. You could be lactose intolerant, have wheat gluten intolerance or a food allergy of some other type. Crohns disease? I would do an emanation diet where you knock out all dairy and see if that works if not knock out all wheat etc.
Avatar n tn It sounds like your doctors are capable and have provide you good care, but given your long history of lung problems and a number of unresolved questions about the bronchitis/pneumonia and the nodule(s), you might want to consider getting a second opinion from a lung specialist, called a pulmonologist. Good luck.
455051 tn?1255826518 I will be 30 weeks this Sunday and I have all kinds of issues going on. My throat is sore and it is hard to swallow. I can not breathe through my nose very well so I start to hypervetilate and I can not sleep b/c I have a drip in the backof my throat that causes me to cough non stop all night and all day.
Avatar m tn since you tend to get cold sores so often, have you considered daily suppressive therapy to help ward some of them off? do you take antivirals at least at the very first sign of a possible cold sore so they heal faster? as a fyi from your one night stand - the only std testing that is accurate 1 week post encounter is chlamydia and gonorrhea. you have to wait at least 6 weeks for syphilis testing and 3 months for hiv, hepatitis and hsv2 testing to be accurate.
Avatar f tn Im a ftm my drs keep going between that I am 26 or 28 weeks. I been having all kinds of pain tightening in my lower stomach in intervals like contractions , pressure that feels like I have to urinate at the same time, and sharp vaginal pains. Has anyone else experienced this?
Avatar m tn No STD causes the sort of problems you describe, i.e. a sequence of pubic area bumps that develop pus. This sounds like folliculitis or some other superficial infection, likely due to staph, strep or similar bacteria. Usually these things aren't harmful in the long run, but still you should see a provider, as you are planning to do. In the meantime, I see no reason to be concerned about any STD. (And the fact that it's a new problem of course says nothing about its source.
Avatar n tn Also, when I wake in the morning, I usually have a feeling of discomfort in the right upper quadrant of my body.....just a vague aching. After I am out of bed and moving around, I don't notice it. Can you tell me if these symptoms go along with recovering from bacterial pneumonia? Thanks.
Avatar n tn 2. Can any of the medications used to treat the different kinds of pneumonia affect the antibodies test? (with emphasis on PCP pneumonia with is often treated with corticosteroids or immunosuppressants) 3. Do you recommend re-testing? Thanks a million! and im sorry i made it so long, i figured it'd be best than having "what if, but" questions.
Avatar n tn I have a dry cough after some things I eat or drink also. I have noticed it is always things with chemicals in them, like msg, sulfites, nitrites, etc.. So I carefully avoid those kinds of foods figuring they aren't good for me anyway. I can tell immediately if food has toxic chemicals in it. for example.. most wine has sufites.. most Chinese food and much other food.. has msg.. etc.. I am not nearly as bad now that I have cleaned up my eating, and I have lost weight also...
620048 tn?1358018235 that is recommended for treatment of pneumonia. The steroid is probably more for your COPD then the pneumonia itself as your breathing is probably worse. In hospital they would have started you on IV steroids and then tapered you to the oral dose. most people stay in the hospital only a few days with moderate pneumonia. With the added respiratory problems maybe you would have stayed in another day or two. Depending on your respiratory status prior to the pneumonia could be 2-4 weeks.
Avatar f tn I heard vapor cigarettes are almost as bad as regular ones, just different kinds of chemicals. Any of that is dangerous while pregnant but I'm sure you know that lol. I wouldn't risk it! But I know it's hard for people who smoke to quit.
Avatar f tn Walking pneumonia can take a lot out of you (especially since it sounds like this pneumonia has been fairly resistant). The pneumonia may resolve with the doxycycline, but it can still take you a few weeks to feel better. I suggest that you take you medication as prescribed, get plenty of rest, drink lots of fluids and give yourself some time to heal. When you finish your doxycycline, be sure to see your doctor again so that he/she can make sure that the pneumonia is gone. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Our bodies can compensate remarkably--for a while--for all kinds of illnesses, but some are worse than others, and a very bad combination such as you describe can mean that the poor body simply cannot handle so many things at once. It just gets to be too much, and nothing the body can do or that doctors can do can overcome the multiple problems. All systems just fail, in spite of everyone's efforts. I am so sorry.
Avatar m tn I did want to mention that many patients have actually had much, much lower occurrences of pneumonia when they began a nightly routine of flossing, brushing the tongue with a toothbrush, and brushing the teeth. Keeping the mouth very clean, and lowering the bacteria content of the mouth overall, seems to make a GREAT difference in preventing pneumonia. Not sure why, but this has been quite effective in the past.
Avatar m tn i have a 45yr old female african american who is recovering from bacterial pneumonia and now she is experiencing some dyspnea with excessive fatigue, blurred vision, poor appetite, muscle weakness and edema in her lower extremities
Avatar m tn His major problem is aspiration pneumonia since the valve to his airway(s) does not close and is in open position constantly. Reflux of food and gases causes repeated pneumonia episodes, the latest resulting in more than 2 months in 4 hospitals and extreme loss of weight. He is facing jejunostomy in the very near future. We are told that later, fundoplication may be great help to him. Has anyone had or heard of side effects from this for a patient with jejunostomy?
