Percocet vs vicodin which is stronger

Common Questions and Answers about Percocet vs vicodin which is stronger

percocet

Carol~ No,you wouldn't have had any kind of withdrawal going to Percocet from Vicodin. Whatever occured was unrelated. Percocet is stronger than Vicodin. Try not to over think this. It will be what it is...it won't be the worst thing you'll go through. Just not pleasant. It's truly like having the flu...
My script ran out and I had to go the ER and they gave me Percocet there for a pain I was lying about. My question is how strong is the 500/325 percocet in relation to the 750 norco vicodin? I am trying to take only 10 percocet a day and survive. WHat does 10 percocet equate to in terms of ES vicodin? I am having some pretty nasty nausea at night and heart palpitations and nausea dizzyness.
however, your wife must be taking 5mg not 500mg pills of Vicodin (the maximum formulation of hydrocodone which is the opiate in Vicodin is 10mg per pill). To determine if your wife is truly addicted, one needs to know how long she has been using at the current rate and whether she can go a few days without using the pills and without exeriencing withdrawal symptoms.
I have attended a few AA meetings in my time, sice they are fundamentally the same, and there is a clause which is verbally spoken, that goes something like "this is a meeting for Alcoholics, who have problems pertaining to alcohol".Just keep in mind that there is a difference.
vicodin is hydrocodone, percocet is oxycodone. Basically they are very much the same, although some people prefer one over the other.
Oxycontin is a lot stronger thn vicodin. If take a lot of the percocet before you get your vicodin the vicodin will not do anything for you. They will maybe help with some of the withdrawl you will have from the percocet. If you can help it stay away from the oxy's and try to taper or stop the vicodin you are messing with a serious addiction that WILL ruin your life.
Our brain can't tell the difference between the two. All it cares about is that you're filling the receptors. Percocet is a stronger opiate so the withdrawals will just be worse.
Hydrate and eat! ((gatorade is good) Even if it is just a little every hour or so.(boost or ensure might work for both food and drink) You have to eat something to keep your energy up as much as possible. If you have Restless legs..it is hit or miss what works. Walking seemed to help me some. Hot bath with epsom salts..a little. I finally had to get my doctor to refill my restless legs meds (non addictive) to get some sleep. If nothing works, your doctor might help.
We typically chat about personal issues, after my urine test (per recent New Laws) to prove that I am taking my meds that’s prescribed VS selling them on the street, and our appt typically ends with him asking “any changes” – I say, “No”, and he hands me my script… Scripts for percocet and/or stronger narcotics must have a written script VS calling or faxing it into the pharmacy.
Percocet (oxycodone) is stronger than Vicodin (hydrocodone). Percocet is typical prescribed in 5mg doses. Hydrocodone is also typically prescribed in 5mg doses. At these levels percocet is definitly the stronger drug. Norco a brand of hydrocodone that comes in 10mg pills, and is there for equivalent to 2 normal hydro pills. People get confused and think it is stronger because they are taking two pills in one.
Vicodin is Stronger than ultram and soon Ultram will be a controlled drug as it is in other countries. The worst thing about it is the mood elevation or antidepressant effect it has. It makes it really hard to stop and it's not a very good painkiller. It is also thought to be hard on the liver.
I dont take them as they are supposed to (they have a time release coating which i remove) and compared to percocets and vicodin which are usually 5mg (hydrocodone) they are much stronger. So i end up doing much more opiate wise when i do the oxy's. For instance a 40mg oxycontin tablet would equal about 8 percs or vics. When i have the percs or vics I never do that many in a day. I usually will do about 3 or 4.
I've always believed Percocet is stronger than Vicodin, Oxycodone versus Hydrocodone respectively. It's usually: Tylenol 3 w/Codeine then Vicodin then Percocet from low to high on the strength scale. The morphine has been great for me, but I've developed a tolerance to the 60mg pills so I'm being moved to something else. In the beginning I had trouble sleeping, mostly because my thoughts were racing.
and truth is they were probably just going to say hi. As far as other side effects, well of course there is the liver which you mentioned and the kidneys. Thankfully there isn't tylenol in the oxycontin, but the tylenol with percs is surely compromising these organs' well being. My very good friend, a percocet abuser, just got off a dialysis machine 2 days ago, for failed liver and kidney function. He is an otherwise healthy 32 year old man.
I have to go to the office daily to pick up my ration for the day. But he gave me Serax (which is similar to Xanax and other Benzo's, but they use this one for alcoholics going through DT's). It is an amazing drug; really really takes the maddening feelings away. No more "crawling out of my skin." Anyway, I am DEFINITELY not a doctor. That's just my advice. Good luck. Oh and by the way-are you sure you got your dosages correct?
What I said is that it is dangerous to withdraw from vicodin alone. I still believe it is. When my MD says that it is then I believe it is.. The word Dangerous does not mean you are going to die from it. I did not say that. Withdrawing from vicodin alone is dangerous because #1 there is a good chance you will go back to it and #2 vicodin is very simalar to heroin. Havent you heard of all the suicides that have been reported because of people being addicted to vicodin and heroin?
5 mg of Oxy to 5 mg of Vicodin-- tha Oxy is stronger my Dr. says, and that is why it is controlled more than Vicodin which gets mailed out on refills.
Oxycodone (Percocet, Oxycontin, Tylox) is about 50% stronger than hydrocodone , where as hydrocodone is about 50% stronger than codeine.
good thing I hate this stuff. Vicodin is an upper for me and gives me energy. Tramadol is a downer and makes me spacey and shaky...
Beware! Percocet is highly addictive and is abused by mainy people who don't experience pain. My brother-in-law has been on Methidone daily for over ten years due to Percocet abuse. This drug becomes physically addictive (similaar to heroin) as well as psychologically addictive. My wife has abused prescription meds for over ten years due to five back surgeries. Good Luck to all.
Addictive dosing behaviors, the large doses associated to Spike the blood plasma level, vs the lower low dosing and more often which is the KEY factor to the physical changes the brain makes which cause dependency. Dependency is the actual physical changes to your body which cause withdrawal. Addiction is the BEHAVIOR of taking the drugs to get high, not as prescribed, and when not needed for clinical reasons. It is the un-manageable behaviors associated with lack of control.
Hi everyone! My question is how do I ask for something stronger without sounding like a "pill seeker" or drug abuser? My Lortab 10mg is like regualr tylenol to my pain. They already have me on Cymbalta, Lyrica, Lortab10mg, Soma, Xanax and Ambien BUT I AM IN SUCH PAIN! It is unreal! I know it's not a good idea to double up or whatever but I have in desparation- it does not help! My legs give me the worst trouble. I take magnesium, calcium and a few other natural things.
I have currently stabilized my dose interval to 5 to 6 hours....which is better than every 2 to 3 hours where I was....keep up the plan and stay strong....keep posting as there are a lot of really good people here that are very compassionate and supportive....good luck....
It is called Contugesic and Codicontin (I'm not sure which is generic and which is brand). I have used both and I think that Codicontin (Dihydrocodeine Tartarate) is more evvective than Oxycontin. It is available through certain off-shore pharmacies. Not being sure of the rules of this BB, I will not mention names. Just a thought.
On the Vicodin you say that your suicidal ideations actually became worse! It is not the answer for you. It is not Vicodin vs. Suicide, but Vicodin encouraging such an act. Vicodin sets you up, makes you feel good for awhile, and then makes things much worse. My sister commited suicide, my mother suffers from manic depression, and i suffer from depression. So...
To try to combat the sleepless nights, I used Advil, which didn't help. The mental said of the withdrawal is much worse than the physical pains. After 6 days now, I think I am starting to return back to my normal self. I feel more alert, sharper, and overall a different person. Today I have only thought about the drug maybe a few times, but without the horrible cravings I had during the mid-week. I know that this is just the tip of the iceberg on what to expect on my long road to being clean.
that I think is excellect for no drug detox, which is what you need to strive for. Replacing this drug for that drug is the thinking you need to banish. Doing a drug free detox will be a great detox, but as importantly, it will be the first very important step of behavior modification instilling a truly drug free life. Also acupuncure will be very good for pain and craving management and it's not expensive. Hang in there, you'll be living again in no time!
I started on hydrocodon and flexiril which did nothing but now I am on Oxycodone 5-325. Which is the same as percocet or tylox. Pre-addicted?? That seems funny to me. If you are not addicted isn't everyone "pre-addicted". That to me is like saying 'pre' anything. I drink does that make me a "pre-alcoholic"? NO!! I agree with Tuckamore. The only other thing I want to mention and I know it is a touchy subject is Medical Marijuana. If you compair Opioids vs Med.
This is an interesting question,,,oxycodone is stronger than hydrocodone but I think it all breaks down to the same chemical after its been metabolized,,therefore you will experience withdrawal from either one. Im not exactly sure of this something I heard,,,I am too interested in knowing more.
