t have had any kind of withdrawal going to Percocet from Vicodin. Whatever occured was unrelated. Percocet is stronger than Vicodin. Try not to over think this. It will be what it is...it won't be the worst thing you'll go through. Just not pleasant. It's truly like having the flu...

t make me too drowsey, if so I will need to go back to the Vicodin or Percocet. One more quick question, my Dr. says a 10 mg perc is the same as a 10 mg vicodin but the percs seem stronger to me. What's your opinion on that? Thanks again for the help.

I would go with the oxycodone (percocet) over the hydrocodone (vicodin), because it's possible to get the oxycodone in it's pure form in a pill without the tylenol in it. The -cet suffix on the percocet is what denotes the acetominophen or Tylenol. In the generic form, it would give the mg strength of the pill (ie, 5/500) and then say APAP on the label.

Usually they will be written in the script with 2 numbers, the first being the strength of teh hydrocodone and the second number the strength of the tylenol. So vicoden 5/325 would be 5 mgs of hydrocodone and 325 mgs of tylenol. You should be able to find hydrocodone in India. The alternative would be Percocet which is oxycodone instead of hydrocodone. They both are very similar but the oxycodone is a bit stronger. From what I have read, a 5 mg percocet is equal to a 7.5 mg vicodin.

Percocet is one step ABOVE Vicodin on the painkiller strength scale. Ever hear people talk about oxy? Percocet is Oxycodone. If you had a problem with vicodin, percocet will just be a bigger problem. You're about right with the meds and their strengths. I had a cervical discectomy with fusion and really didn't need pain meds beyond about the third day post surgery. My problems started about 7 months after the surgery when it became apparent that I had developed adhesive arachnoiditis as a result of the nerves in my spine reacting badly to the dye in the myelogram before the surgery. Had I not had the myelogram, I would no longer have needed pain meds after the surgery.

What drug are you talking about? I only know of Percocet being 5/325 & Lortab being 5/500. Then there's Norco that's 10/325, Lorcet 10/650 Lorcet Plus 7.5/750, Vicodin 5/550, Vicodin ES 7.5/750 & Vicodin HP 10/660. Unless I'm outta the loop.

Not really any difference. Vicoprofen has Ibuprofen with the Hydrocodone. Vicodin has Tylenol. Strength would be the same if they both were the same dose.

I'll do my best..... Here is the easiest way to look at it, (i think?) ... Percocet has tylenol in it, however, oxycodone and oxycontin are just straight percocet, no tylenol. I believe that oxycodone is the generic name for Roxicodone, which is also obviously percocet without the tylenol. Oxycontin and oxycodone are the same thing, EXCEPT oxycodone is a quick release tablet, and oxycontin is a slow release of the same med. Hydrocodone is the ingredient in Vicodin and Lortab.

I’m in the UK and a number of times when reading posts have wondered what certain drugs are in the US as they are all called different things in the UK. What exactly is Vicodin, Percocet etc? We have codeine phosphate here which contain 30mg of codeine each. Oxycodone also has an option without Tylenol. it is available in a 5 mg strength so this may be an option too. You need to discuss this with your doctor and ask him what options he/she can offer. I would highly suggest not going in and asking for a specific drug, this raises huge red flags. Just speak to your doctor and inform them that the Darvocet is not controlling the pain and that your concerned about the Tylenol content on a daily basis and they will adjust your medicines accordingly.

and sub is a different type of narcotic than the other 2..but conversoin charts do compare the strength of sub to other narcotics..but it is not really the effect they r comparing//but the strength...i do believe there is a conversion chart in avisg's journal...

Norco(=vicoden/hydrocodone too) 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10, they usually come with 250 mg acetem.(Tylenol) Percocet/Percodan (Oxycodone) 5mg, 10mg anywhere from 250-750 mg (tylenol) Oxycontin usually comes in 10, 20,60,80 mg and typically doesn't have any tylenol. Morphine comes is pill form as well as intravenous for severe pain.

Well maybe they will pull the formulas for vicodin and percocet how they are now (with 500mgs of APAP in each tablet) but I bet they will come out with a formula with less APAP in them. Vicodin is the #1 most precribed med in America (not just pain med, but ALL meds prescribed) so its doubtful that they will just pull it outright. At least I hope they don't.

I was taking Vicodin, about 6x per day, not sure of the strength, but I know it was the lowest (believe 5mg each) on and off for about 4-5 months. I've finally made the choice to end this and get clean. I miss the feeling of just being happy, and not just being happy cause of the Vicodin High. I feel very clammy, uncomfortable, depressed and restless. I've gone through tramadol withdrawals and percocet; even vicodin for a few days.

yes, percocet is a class 2 narcotic and vicodin is a class 3. Percocet is an oxycodone with tylenol, and vicodin is a hydrocodone with tylenol. If ever you need a refill you can't have a doctor call in a class 2. Both are addictive equally...

The good news is that it does go away fairly soon ( I think.) How long have you been off the vicodin and percocet? What strength were you taking, and how many were you taking per day? You may just be the kind of person that body got used to taking the medication pretty quick and now it's just withdrawing. Not that you have a substance abuse problem, but I think there is an area on here that may have some tips on helping you get through this quicker.
