587778 tn?1261397118 It does not matter if I am standing, sitting, walking, or lying down, I am in pain constantly for the last week. I am wondering if I have re-injured my knee or is this how mild osteoarthritis feels?

1069378 tn?1255215132 Thank you very much for your response. It was most helpful to me. I do realize that both Synvisc and acupuncture will only give me pain relief and not solve the primary problem, but I could use that pain relief right now. It will perhaps enable me to be more active in areas that I have avoided because of the pain. Most of all it will give me time to decide what is the best course of action for resolving the problem. Again, I really appreciate your responding to my post.
Avatar m tn / I knew my condition was bad b/c of the amount of pain I am in but wasn't expecting that especially @ 32 with a 4 yr old and 7 month old!! Anyways, he adviced pain meds and synvisc-one injections until we couldn't control the pain enough. I tried the injections. I won't lie the are a bit painful. My right one was just uncomfortable. The left one hurt way worse. I have no idea why but it even swelled up and I had to stay off it about 24 hours b/c of all the fluid on it.
Avatar m tn i was also wondering about the osteoarthritis as my dr told me that i have severe degenerative osteoarthritis of the lower spine (I forgot the numbers), hips, left shoulder and both feet. I had major surgery last summer and mesh was used to attach part of my bowel to my spine. My dr figures that this may have jump-started the arthritis issues. Currently i have probs walking, bending and overall it hurts to be on my feet for more than 20 mins at a time.
529224 tn?1400648219 ) - which my consultant had suggested before first knee OP, and my knee (despite being in a worse arthritic state than the first knee before OP!) improved - I don't have pain, or instability anymore!
Avatar n tn Glucosamine supplements are widely used for osteoarthritis, particularly knee osteoarthritis. In osteoarthritis, cartilage -- the rubbery material that cushions joints -- becomes stiff and loses its elasticity. This makes the joint prone to damage and may lead to pain, swelling, loss of movement, and further deterioration.
Avatar m tn Doc suggested me to go through the surgery to cut the tear. My knee pain is not so severe. I am able to walk with no issues but some uncomfort in the knee sometimes. My worry is Do I really need to go through surgery given my situation. Please please advice. I really appreciate your guidance here. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am recovering from a partial menisectomy of my lateral meniscus in my right knee, Although it went great and I am DELIGHTED to be back running again, I was recently informed that I lost 40-50 percent of my meniscus during surgery because it was so torn up. Does this mean that osteoarthritis is inevitable in my near future? I am only 16, and hope to be running as long as I can. :( Is it possible that osteoarthritis could end my pain-free life at age 30?
Avatar n tn My knee and lower leg have been in pain for a few months now. I believe the pain is from jogging and putting too much pressure on my leg in general. It hurts mostly when I walk or put pressure on it. Resting my leg and taking naproxen and ibprofen to reduce inflammation does not seem to be healing it. Is it possible that this injury will require surgery? What should I do?

Avatar f tn I had been diagnosed with Osteoarthritis in the left knee and beginning in the right knee four years ago. I was told that I was bone on bone in the left knee. Since I was only 50 years old the doctor said that I was too young for surgery. Four years later, 1 less thyroid, additional weight, I have been told I am too fat and I need to get my BMI down before they would consider.
Avatar f tn s my left knee i had problem with knee subluxation i went through physical Therapy for 6 months before my surgery which was back in late February ,I had a chondroplasty with a lateral release .

Avatar m tn The various other causes of knee locking are torn medial meniscus, mis-aligned knee cap, osteoarthritis, knee arthritis, torn lateral meniscus, osteochondritis dissecans, recurrent patella dislocation, chondromalacia patella, knee alignment problem, knee fragment or knee cartilage disorder. Since pain intensified after a fall, maybe she has injured a ligament. Please discuss with her doctor. It may be a good idea to do a MRI, if that is possible. Take care!
Avatar f tn I have been taking Meloxicam and painkillers. Today I have been to see a specialist with the view to having knee replacement surgery. After looking at my recent x rays he has informed me that I have Avascular Necrosis in both knees. My left knee joint has collapsed and the right one is heading for collapse. Can you tell me if Avascular Necrosis is a form of Arthritis? If so what do you get first Osteoarthritis or Avascular Necrosis?I am 55 years old.
Avatar f tn I have not heard anything about a new procedure but I did hear that there is a new pain medication called Nucynta (Tapentadol) which is a mu-opiod agonist analgesic. It is structurally similar to Tramadol.
Avatar n tn Full removal possibly could affect stability of the knee, future osteoarthritis risk increases, as well as degeneration of the knee joint. With either a partial or whole removal, care needs to be taken of the nerves passing through the knee. Living with the injury may not be feasible in your case with such a bad tear and recovery very well may require surgery, unfortunately. But do seek a second opinion to feel more comfortable with your choice. Let us know what you think or decide to do.
Avatar n tn I've had this knee pain (left and right) for almost a yr already. The symptoms are as follows: Grinding / grating sensation upon flexing the knee. Aching pain at and below the patella. Difficulty straightening the knee. Pain is most servere when putting weight or pressure on it. Pain can be felt when climbing up the stairs, jumping, running and standing for prolonged periods. In addition, pain can be felt behind the knee cap.
11446628 tn?1418298480 I have osteoarthritis in my spine, from neck down. I also have pain in my knee and hands, and my fingers are twisting and have knots. My right knee has had pain and swelling for weeks, and this morning it's too painful to walk. I haven't injured it. Recent blood test didn't report rheumatoid arthritis. So what's going on with my knee, and with my hands?
Avatar n tn The knee problem might be related to a torn miniscus(the disc in between the knee joint that softens impact and makes movement more fluid) I have torn both of my miniscus when leg pressing 1600lbs. You said you've had mri's done on your shoulder, what about your neck? If not, get your orthopedic doctor to authorize an MRI of the neck w/o contrast. As for the shoulder, I don't really have a definitive answer, maybe a rotator cuff injury...Don't qoute me on that one.LOL Good luck.
