Omeprazole for lpr

Common Questions and Answers about Omeprazole for lpr

prilosec

Avatar m tn After all tests came back negative, the sore throat and swollen submandibular lymph nodes have lasted for almost 1.5 years. After multiple doctors visits, I have been diagnosed with LPR. The ENT put me on Nexium ??mg twice per day. I have been taking the Nexium for about a month now. I have a couple of questions. Are swollen submandibular lymph nodes a common symptom of LPR? I have only seen in one place where someone says swollen lymph nodes are a symptom of LPR.
Avatar f tn Hi Guys I have significant LPR reflux after taking a long course of Antibiotics for my Prostate problems. I have a lot of swelling sensation/feeling in my throat and stiffness in my neck, is this normal? I also had mild oral thrush and the ENT doc Harley street London says it’s quite common to come together but I dunno, the thrush has subsided a bit but he gave me Omeprazole but it messed up my stomach, so I stopped after a month, is LPR a chronic condition?
Avatar n tn I had a piece of food lodged in the back of my throat for about 10 days. Had excessive coughing the whole time and finally was able to get it out. I went to ENT on day 15 and he didn't see anything but diagnosed me with LPR because I said I had pieces of that food still coming up and a tickle in my throat and chest when breathing. Prescribed omeprazole 40 mg twice a day.
1364792 tn?1278051187 Omeprazole is an H2 blocker. It is helpful, but not the big guns for acid reflux that could be harmful. Omeprazole is available OTC. Some H2 blockers are also used as supplement antihistamines for people who have a hard time controlling allergies. OH, not acid reflux presents with the typical heart burn symptoms. Some people reflux higher and it does burn the esophagus in that way. Feel better.
Avatar f tn One of my friends husbands was diagnosed with throat cancer (now in remission) and I am always worrying this throat irritation will turn into cancer. I am not sure how long I may have had LPR, but for years I was always clearing my throat. The burning sensation started about a month ago.
Avatar m tn It looks as if I will have to step up the pace a good bit. I am going to continue the omeprazole for a few months but was wondering if there is a particular optimum time to take the drug?
Avatar m tn I am now on week six so this has dramatically changed my social life and I am now on 20mg of omeprazole. For the first month it started ok. I cut Alcohol, spicy food, all fizzy drinks, orange juice. Now I'm faced with crippling stomach pain, the belching is back and as worse as when I used to drink. I throw up bright yellow acidic sick and have diarohea frequently. I have to wait 2 weeks till my GP appointment. I'm still taking omeprazole, I'm exhausted and I need help.
Avatar m tn Reflux pain irritates the same nerve bundle that is involved in cardiac pain so the symptoms are the same. I've heard it said that nitro will make reflux pain stop.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am hoping someone on here who suffers with LPR may be able to help me. I have been suffering with various throat related health problems for months and as I am an allergy sufferer, I went down that route and saw an ENT, he treated my allergy issues etc but I still have a feeling of mucus in the throat, a painful kinda burning feeling deep down in my throat which makes the side of my throat/neck ache and feel uncomfortable.
974371 tn?1424653129 Been feeling like that the past e3 or 4 days again and been mainly been using Pepto or Tums. Last time this happened, my doc gave me a prescription for Omeprazole DR. 20 mg. Of course, the day after my appt, the nausea went away so I never tried it. Well, the nausea is back again and I am a bit concerned about taking this med. I am not good at taking prescription meds as I've had problems in the past.
Avatar m tn I went for a 2nd opinion, and now Im being told I have LPR or silent reflux. My Laryngeal tonsils are the size of grapes...and I can't normally eat, sleep or swallow. Told me to take Dexilant ...follow up in two weeks..if that does not work then a swallowing specialist? Why can't I have my tonsils removed and be done with it? I have no real reflux symptoms, just the swollen tonsils. Doctors keep putting me on medications that don't seem to work.
Avatar f tn Hi. I am not sure whether I have acid reflux or not. Off and on for the last few months I've had some issues that have concerned me. I will have sore throats that come and go, sometimes I feel like I can taste blood coming up from my throat (I don't ever have any blood in my mouth, I can just taste the blood even though there's no blood visible if I spit) and a strange feeling in my upper chest.
Avatar n tn I have been taking omeprazole for 4 years and it has worked great for my acid reflux problem. In March of 2013, very quickly I developed severe itchy skin. Here it is January 2014 and I am pretty sure I have one of the possible side affects of taking omeprazole, severe itchy skin. Twice in the last month I stopped taking it for a few days and believe I even had a withdrawal side affect. This was when I was just falling to sleep it felt like I could not breath.
Avatar m tn I was on omeprazole 10mg, then pantoprazole 20mg and then rabeprazole 20mg. in total I was on PPIs for 3 months. I did change my diet to be more GERD friendly as advised by my dr, no acidic/spicy/oily food and no coffee/tea/chocolate/mint. I also had an ultrasoundndone on my stomach, liver and digestive tract as well as a full blood test, thyroid was found to be normal.
Avatar n tn Any suggestions. I woke up one day and felt like their was a constant lump in my throat as well as a weird feeling like the back of my tongue is dry or burning(hard to explain). my doctor said it was nasal drip, gave my Flonase but this made my tongue feel more "dry". I went to an ENT and he said it's lpr and gave me omeprazole twice a day.
Avatar n tn My mother was on long term acid blocker nexium (similar to prilosec (omeprazole) but more powerful) and these were some of the dozens of symptoms that she no longer suffers with since stopping nexium... severe major clinical depression, severe anxiety, severe constant fungal infections, homocysteine in imminent heart attack range, severe angina pain, severe stomach pain (nexium worsened her gastritis), sky high blood pressure - given less than 5 years to live by an international specialist.
Avatar m tn My mother took nexium for almost 6 years for severe GERD and severe LPR and her mental and physical health deteriorated badly (due to lowering stomach acid essential for nutrient absorption and killing off fungi, bacteria and parasites). I searched for an answer and couldn't believe it when i read this - high stomach acid is rare. What!? Causes include anything from age to zinc deficiency. O_O Why didn't i know this! Tried the baking soda test i found online...
Avatar n tn As you have learned, there are several forms of GERD. The higher up the acid travels, the more complications regardless of the name attached to it! Doctors mostly treat it the same with meds, or for the severe LES - operations. As patients, we really need to find the cause of the acid refluxing up the esophagus if PPI's and other meds dont work for us. Even if meds do work, shouldn't we be inclined to find the cause anyway?
Avatar n tn I have been having a lump in my throat for several months. After thinking I was getting food caught in my throat and even getting an endoscopy I've begun to think it may be food allergies. I do not find it hard to breath though. Can a food allergy symptom be a lump in the throat or chest without feeling hard to breath? I usually feel this just after eating and I feel very nauseous some of the time. I have a bit of a feeling of pins and needles in my throat sometimes.
Avatar n tn The ENT specialist scoped my nose and said my voice box was swollen so he has put me on Omeprazole for 6 mths to see if this will help. He says I have reflux going into my larynx even though I do not have heartburn.
Avatar m tn Lo and behold after 3 years of trying asthma meds, omeprazole, various anti acids, antibiotics (for h pylori), nasal rinse, anti depressants like elavil and various antiacids I can say my breathing has improved 90%. What I mean is I can breathe in without much difficulty. I am really feeling better thanks to this anonymous person on the board. There is another thing, however. Today, for the first time I got a real acid reflux symptom.
Avatar f tn I have been on 40 mg Nexium since 5/2017 for GERD and LPR. I started slowly cutting down November 2017. I am currently on 30 mg Nexium and really struggling. I don’t have heartburn or voice issues again, but I have a dull ache between my shoulder blades. It has gotten worse and worse the more I cut down on the Nexium. Sometimes it is almost debillitating and I feel scared of esophagus issues. Sometimes the pain goes up to my neck and down my back.
Avatar n tn For the past 15 years I've had an issue where my throat gets irritated (feeling of mucus coating, swollen) while and after I eat. I feel like I have to cough out mucus and "gag" it out. After the wet cough / gag / coughing up the clear mucus, I feel relief but sometimes it causes me to want to throw up since the food in my stomach rises too much. It's the WORST with sweet food and processed foods. Like eating a single gummy bear will trigger a reaction as severe as a big meal.
Avatar n tn Is it possible to have a reverse reaction to Nexium / omeprazole? It never really made the symptoms of my recently diagnosed hiatal hernia caused reflux (lump in throat, mostly) go away. It seemed to help for 2 weeks, but after 1 month it seemed to aggravate GERD symptoms. I am reading a lot on the subject, experimenting with diet and relaxation and the occasional spoonful of Maalox. I relate to the person who said they felt fine until after the endoscopy.
