Avatar f tn Singulair can be used for Allergic Rhinitis like you have, however, this is usually prescribed for someone with Asthma issues secondary to Allergic Rhinitis. What nasal steroid are you using? Most of them can be used long term.
548980 tn?1214822412 However, you said every time you go out, you feel stuffy. Vasomotor rhinitis is a form of rhinitis that is not related to allergic reactions, but which is characterized by some of the same symptoms, such as a chronic sinus headache, runny nose and blood-vessel congestion of the nasal mucus membrane.
Avatar m tn Hello, The symptoms are suggestive of allergic rhinitis. Allergic rhinitis is a collection of symptoms, predominantly in the nose and eyes, caused by airborne particles of dust, dander, or plant pollens in people who are allergic to these substances. You can take OTC antihistaminics like benadryl,Claritin or cetirizine (Zyrtec). You can also use nasal corticosteroid sprays like nasocort or flonase.
Avatar f tn My 1 year old has had a runny nose for almost 5 months now. He has always been a little snorty/congested, but when he got a mild case of RSV in February the runny nose never seemed to go away. I have taken him to several allergists. He did have the skin test which came back negative. One doc. said he needed to be treated for nasal infections (each test seemed to show a different bacteria) but after several rounds of different antibiotics I didn't feel comfortable and left that doc.
Avatar n tn My allergist says my underlying problem all along has been allergic rhinitis, and she has put me on Nasonex and Astelin, besides given me instructions on 'dust-proofing' my bedroom. I'm an otherwise healthy 30 y/o male with no previous history of allergies or any serious/chronic illness. I recently also had a blood test, which was normal except for slightly elevated Lymphocytes. My question: Can allergic rhinitis present without coughing, runny/congested nose and itchy eyes?
Avatar f tn It probably is. I get something like that, too. I sometimes have so much drainage that I have to take oral antihistamine, too. I hate it, because the oral antihistamine is so sedating.
345124 tn?1234483278 you can also have what is called as mixed rhinitis. There is no cure for vasomotor rhinitis. Mayo ent doctor told me to use nasal rinses twice a day for the rest of my life, use musinex tablets to keep drainage thin , use a humidifer. Doctor said the rinses may seem like they are not doing any good but they really are he said. Could have fooled me.
Avatar n tn 5mg now almost taken it for 5 years , asthmatic and allergic rhinitis recently she complain of sudden paroxysmal attack of vertigo ***-cited with dizziness and headache with blurred voisson only when she moves her head back the attack persists for 2 min only.
Avatar f tn I am taking Loratidine and also use Nasonex for mild seasonal allergies. I was tested as a child and all that surfaced was mild reactions to house dust and corn. I lived in the Atlanta area for a while and the pollen problem there (a nightmare) is what spawned the used of allergy meds. Pollen count in my current place of residence (back where I grew up) is much less.
Avatar f tn It is possible your husband has a non-allergic inflammation of the upper airways called vasomotor rhinitis. This can cause drainage and can be quite annoying to some. This gets worse with different temperatures, certain foods, increased activity or generally anything that increases blood flow to the area. One therapy that sometimes works for this condition is a nasal inhaled steroid which temporarily decreases the inflammation, but does not cure anything.
Avatar n tn my doctor advised me that this is rhinitis and gave me a steroid nasal sparay (nasonex) to use. i found this helped the rhinitis but made my asthma worse. it doesnt feel like typical asthma, but deeper into my chest and i find im struggling to catch my breath.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with non allergic rhinitis and the sneezing and congestion happens mostly when I am ready for bed, or comes on suddenly during the night. At times I wake up because I am about to sneeze. I had a CAT scan, and my ENT doctor said my sinuses were inflamed. He gave me a 5 day steriod treatment and said he could only do it a couple times a year. I felt great for 3 weeks, now it's back to being as is was prior to the treatment.
Avatar m tn I child has a constant runny nose which we have tried to treat with Iliadin, Sterimar, Nasonex, Celestamine and Betanoid, Antibiotics, Flexinase, the list goes on and on. We have currently changed his night time bottle to a non lactose formula. After the first night there is still a runny nose - I realise I need to be more patient. However I feel it is seriously affecting his quality of life as often the phlegm affects his throat or ears and he needs another course of antibiotics!
345124 tn?1234483278 this is what I've been doing for my "new" summer allergies that come with an dose of dizziness and at times vertigo. I can handle everything except the dizziness/vertigo. As soon as I feel it coming on and my ears feel stuffy I pop a Claritin, some Flonase and ibuprofen if it comes along with sinus press again.
Avatar m tn Also, if you know of any allergens, in addition to the house dust mites, that make your rhinitis worse, do whatever is necessary to rid your environment of those allergens.
524539 tn?1215780788 Well, the doctor seems to think it is Rhinitis as the glands in her nose look purple and swollen. He recommended OTC Zyrtec and prescribed her Nasonex/Flonase. He wants to see her back in 2-3 weeks for a follow-up appt. All I can say is I gave the medicine to her yesterday and last night she did cough a little, but not vomiting occured. He recommended also that we get rid of our cat. That is not likely seeing as I've had her since she was a kitten, she is now 8yrs old.
Avatar n tn I know exactly how you feel as I have Vasomotor rhinitis as well. I have been to so many ENT doctors and there is not really nothing that they can do. I have had all the scopes in the nose, down the throat, CT scan, MRI, blood work and everything shows up fine. I know what you mean about the nasal sprays, I think I have tried every single one that was ever made and that did not help either.
Avatar m tn I have the bed covers and attempt to keep the dust level inside down to a minimum. The allergists prescribed Zyrtec, nasonex and nexium and this course of treatment helped for a while but now the constant need to clear my throat is back. I also do the saline nostril rinse once a day as well and it helps for about thirty minutes then it is back to clearing my throat every few seconds. I am a 54 year old fairly healthy male. Are there any other interventions that may get me some relief?
29837 tn?1414534648 Recently I went to an eye, ear, nose specialist who prescribed Nasonex. Anyone have any success with it? I say that because I tried it now for two days with no effect. Do I need to try it longer? Anyone?
Avatar f tn I was on nasonex spray prn or I take 1 puff each nose at times for few years= 4 years. Now I noticed hair thinning and loss. I have stopped the nasonex now. Will my hair grow back as usual? I am so worried. Iam not taking any other medication. But on hair supplements- zinc, vitamin E and multivitamin. Started my hair massage!
531684 tn?1216745984 t even get to the end of the complaints on the internet about nose bleeds from nasonex! Well, my nose bleeds started with nasonex, the first time around was in the '90's, and no one seemed to know then that the nose bleeds were a side effect, although I kept having them and realized then that they occurred after using nasonex. Later, around 2007, I was told by a doctor, that it wouldn't be a bad idea to try it again, that it was actually a good drug.
211940 tn?1267881266 Yes, I have a hypersensitive nose. Went through a lot of testing a year ago, and found I have minimal allergies, though I had a lot more when I was a child and into my twenties and thirties. The last allergist I went to was totally useless. He had me on up to 5 meds, and still I was a mess. There have been days I've sneezed 50 times, and used dozens of Kleenexes (Kleenices?
Avatar n tn Hello, I have been taking Nasonex for 5 months now and starting 10 days ago, I started experiencing weird sensation in the left area of my chest, it would only happen 3 to 6 times a day and it would feel like someone just tapped the someone of my chest with a finger or two, after 3 or 4 days experiencing this, I just completly stopped using Nasonex and have been off Nasonex for 5 days and 11 hours now.
