Avatar n tn All the topical medicines like Neosporin, mupirocin and polysporin and antiseptics like betadene or dettol are available over the counter.Pls make sure to check your sensitivity to betadene first. If the symptoms do not improve even after using these topical antibiotics then oral antibiotics may be needed which are available only on prescription of a dermatologist. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing and if you have any additional queries.
Avatar m tn Is there something else i should do or do i have a different problem all together? I have also used neosporin polysporin bacitracin, rubbing alcohol(but that left a rash) antibactieral hand cleaner.
Avatar m tn Hello again everyone, So it was beginning to shrink and go away/fade but I wanted it to be quicker so I started applying Polysporin but that seemed to be a bad idea it just made it red again. I am pretty disappointed, does anyone know if this is what Polysporin does? makes the skin red again?
Avatar m tn It is only a couple layers of skin peeled back but there is ample amount of open wound. I cleaned and dressed the wound with non-adherent sponges, but I also applied alot of polysporin. I have re-dressed the wound twice now, once every 24hours since the incident occured. Should i advise him to remove the dressings? exposing the wound to open air? or should I continue this process of re-dressing. And for how long?

Avatar m tn I put polysporin on my penis because it was a little itchy and now the lower left side of the head throbs a little for over a week now could it be from the polysporin or could it be an STD ?
Avatar f tn The lesions lOOK just like what I see online for impetago photos and the derm did just give me mupirocin topical so he must now be considering it possible impetago.......it might, might be improving ???? on this the third day of mupirocin but if it is it is very SLOW improvement (if any) and still some new lesions come daily. It is a blistery type rash. It does not itch but is VERY painful and bleeds or oozes clear fluid. Until they drain, the area swells which hurts a lot.
Avatar m tn It can takes months to complete resolve. If not you will need surgery for a chalazion. Polysporin will not help at this stage. Dr. O.

Avatar m tn Hello, I'm looking for some help. I'm wondering if my dog has a tick under her skin. It doesn't seem to be very painful to the touch for her. We cut the hair away from the area and applied polysporin, and the images we're taken after we did so. There is some puss and blood over the area and it is scabed in some areas. We havn't found any insects around the spot. Could someone please provide some insight. She is female golden retriever age 3.
Avatar f tn http://postimg.org/image/6narkhrin/ I have a dry red spot on the shaft of my penis. Went to doctor but he didn't really say anything about it just to apply polysporin and check back in a week. It's been like this for 2 weeks now. It was bright red and shiny now it's light pink and seems to be getting a little bigger and spreading. I did irritate it with some apple cider vinegar incase it was bacterial (back when it was red).
Avatar f tn They only itch when I touch them or something rubs across them like my sleeve. I have been putting polysporin on them since Sunday. The bumps seem to have become more prominent but the redness has gone down quite a bit. Could I have been bitten by something at night?
Avatar f tn Accidentally, I sprayed mupirocin/Dextamethasone 5GM/45ML/0.1%, a compounded nasal preparation, in my eye. I rinsed the eye with water for about one minute. Eye has had 5 retina surgeries, has band kerapothy, and no lens. PCC told me it's ok because the mupirocin is also used for eye preparations. Correct?
Avatar m tn or an ingrown hair hence why you see a hole.pee, sweat, semen can enter the hole causing swelling due to infection..use polysporin to aid this...it will go away....
Avatar m tn But after another week the rash was still oozing and very itchy so I ended up using copious amounts of Polysporin. The polysporin began clearing up the oozing within 24 hours. The rash did however last over 4 weeks! Poor kid. My original post was on August 5 and he still had itching when he started school the beginning of September. Thanks for your help.
Avatar m tn It was originally identified as staph and treated with Mupirocin and Clobetasol by my Dr. Unfortunately 2 weeks of use has done nothing. I haven't been able to see her again so I figured I'd post here. I have a feeling this could be fungal, but am not sure. As you can see in the pic, it is a red irritation and slightly raised. It has shown only minor response to both clobetasol and mupirocin. It has never itched.
Avatar n tn Hi doctor, About a year and a half ago an opthalmologist ended my 10 year span of using naphazoline hydrocholoride which had been prescribed by my gen physician. He put me on flax seed oil, allegra, restasis, sterilid and qtips, moisturizing eyedrops and tobradex. At one point he did tell me to slow down on the tobradex but I couldn't handle having such bloodshot eyes so he's allowed me to continue usage for the past year and a half while monitoring my IOP levels.
Avatar n tn Try some hydrogen peroxide to prevent infection and definitely if you get a couple days off move as little as possible, have someone that cares about you take care of the moving around for you. Usually polysporin works for most types of cuts, scrapes, but you have to be sure it's either just a messy cut or scrape, versus an actual burn. I'm not sure if polysporin is for burns, it very well maybe.
Avatar n tn Thanks Jessy, yeah had the urine sample test and it was all clear for STDs. The anal itch seems to be the main issue - I'm using some Polysporin (antibiotic/anti-fungal lotion) to see if that settles things down. I will go get retested for the rectal Gonn. again incase its recurred. Fingers crossed it hasn't.
Avatar f tn I just kept it clean and put some polysporin on it. Works every time.

Avatar m tn Neosporin, polysporin or an over the counter bactricidal agent might have been the proper treatment at the beginning, however the "pinkness" suggests infection, and if it's been there this long you probably require an oral antibiotic, and possibly debridement of the wound. Infection of this nature is not necessarily due to anemia. A healthy person who has the misfortune to be infected with certain bacteria can also develop such a problem.
Avatar f tn My brother got to hold him while it was being done. The doctor told them to keep polysporin on it with each diaper change. The only time he has fussed is when they put him in his carseat right after having it done because the strap was rubbing to tight. The key is to keep it clean and to keep polysporin or vasiline on it- just something to keep the diaper from sticking.
