Hello...Just wondering, has the decision been made to more or less give up on your sister just because of the high CA.125, or has there been something sinister show up in scans? I have a CA.125 almost double that of your sister, but hospice isn't an option for me. Having a stroke shouldn't stop them from helping your sister with further treatment to combat the cancer.

My Mom is in end stage COPD and CHF and it has been a battle of "wills" and "won'ts" between my sisters and my mothers care....My Mom is on Hospice care and I believe in there "mission" for "comfort care" but my sisters think that my Mom is/will become a "drug addict" (my Mom can be given Morphine and Ativan if her respirations get too high... (and my Mom has been having respirations up into the 40's - normal is between 18 to 20....

I am under the care of a pain management doctor for a major back injury and surgery in 2012 that left me with multiple ruptured discs, moderate to severe neuropathy in both legs, arachnoiditis and general severe back pain. I have been on methadone for 3 years with no change in dose (30 mgr 2x per day). I have no history of drug abuse. Last Monday without any warning, my insurance rejected my monthly methadone prescription.

ve heard and read that its perhaps a step up from morphine sulfate. but not sure. all i can say is that the morphine works well for me. I also took effexor 150mgs twice daily and it wasn't cutting my depression at all, so my pain management moved me to zoloft 200mgs daily (100mgs twice daily) and this is working for me. But i would definetly speak to your pain management doc. The morphine makes you sleepy also, so be careful at first if u chose that path. Best of luck!

I was recently perscribed morphine for my fibromyalgia and spurs on my spine. My question is does the morphine make you really nauseated and throw up. The last few days the side effects have slowed down, but I would still like to hear some suggestions from people in the forum.

s care but my dog is having bladder stones and he is very much unconfortable all night I have to take him downstairs to pee and all the vet has told me is to wait for the results of urine test to beggin treatment meanwhile he gave him Rimadyl for the Hip pain and also some Phenobarbitol for anxiety, but he still cries all the time, I am desperate !

Watching him suffer like this is devastating. Has anyone ever had someone go into end of life care? What can they do for him? Thank you for any insight anyone may have.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I've also recently lost my mom to cancer and pneumonia and whatever other infections ravaged her body. Mammo really said it best--there's not much I can add to it. Please don't let this guilt eat at you like it is. My mother was also given morphine and Ativan (another type of anti-anxiety drug like Xanax) when she was unconcious.

As Dr. Fazio states, for the sake of your eyesight it is critical that you stop smoking, but not because of the danger from cigarette ash. There are a LOT of patients on these boards who would be glad to have their eyesight back, but can't do anything about it. In your case, you don't already have eye disease. I take percocet and morphine together, but mine are prescribed from a Dr for a medical reason. I would suggest doing some research on the internet. Just put morphine in the search engine and you will find a lot of info. All narcotic prescription drugs are addictive, they give you a high feeling and they take away pain...I am not sure if your husband takes them fr a Dr or does he buy them from the streets? It is very hard for one person to take care of someone that is that ill. It is too emotionally draining for you or your father. If you mother is not sleeping I would ask her Dr why some sort of sleeping aid isn't available even if it isn't a sleeping pill. Xanax for instance is an anti anxiety pill that would also help her sleep. I understand that "sleeping pills" interfere with your breathing ability so maybe that is why they don't want to give her any.

hot stomach, loss of muscle tone, lack of appetite, and lack of energy. She is at home on hospice care, stage IV. She was diagnosed on June 12, 2009. Her home nurse is nice and sweet and tells her she is doing well. Hospice sends morphine and constipation medication. Both of which she does not need and does not use.

It scares me how people can shot unsterile-unclean items right into thier veins, it is as dangerous as injecting morphine when not in the hospital under care from a doc!

The doctor ordered Morphine and Phenergan injections. The nurse injected the morphine into my left hip and the phenergan into my right hip. As soon as she pushed the needle into my right hip, I got a really intense pain in my hip that radiated down to my right knee and my kneecap felt like it was going to explode. Now, I still have pain in my right hip when I move my leg and I'm worried that she did something wrong. Should I be worried? Is it possible that she damaged a nerve? Thanks!

Morphine mg to mg, (administered orally) has about 1/2 the analgesic effectiveness of oxycodone. So 30mg of morphine would be euqal to around 15mg of oxy. Did you tell the doc that the oxy 5mg. wasnt taking care of the pain? Other than that,I cant imagine why he would "up your meds" just out of the blue.

Back home for 30 Days and back over to texas again for an addittional 90 days to take care of her during her course of 48 weeks of treatment. Having heard from her Rheumatologist that with the Fibromyalgia on top of her course of treatment for hepatitis she will be Non "Functional" This is why i showed my concern for her being left alone with no care and attention while i am back in the UK.

He always ignores me when I cry and leaves or goes to bed. He doesn't comfort me or try and get me to stop. He just let's me cry and hurt for hours I've told him many times how I feel and he just days I have issues. Amd I'm crazy . How do I get him to care about me again? And miss me and live me...we have a 15 month old and have been together 3 years I'm also 5 weeks pregnant and having sharp pains.

I guess my job in the Aged Care Home prepared me for this....as its not such a shock now and I know whats happening with each symptom with Bev. Shes on Morphine in the stomach and even though the Doc says 2-3 months maybe...I know that time is running out. It will be a lot sooner. 3/4 years ago I was a dress size 10 I had my son and craved fatty foods ever since I cant stop eating and some days I can go without food for at least 2 days iv been through a lot as well which makes me eat quite a bit anybody got any ideas how to stop this iv tried eating slowly, drinking lots of water etc and cant seem to stop it I really need to as im really un happy with myself and my weight and have had to put my wedding on hold because of it please help

This a time release pill which last for 12 hrs. I have been on some kind of Morphine for 8 yrs. I was on a time release morphine capsule for several years ( name slips me now) it was excellent. One capsule every 12 hrs. Ask your Dr. about it .

Percocet is not for chronic pain. Neither is Lortab. Both have paracetamol in them, which, after months or years of everyday use, will most likely take it's toll on the liver, esophagus or stomach, or all three. Pure morphine is a much better choice. Ask your doctor to do a liver function test (AST/ALT and ALP) while everyday on paracetamol and see for yourself.

You would have nurses, doctors and counselors workingnwith you. They would give you comfort meds for the withdrawals. You could also start dealing with the trauma of the rape. Do your parents know about that?

I have become physically dependent on MS Contin which is the same type of med as oxycontin only Morphine is the narcotic instead of oxcycondone. I was prescribed this as a pain control medication for 2 years at which time they diagnosed my condition which required surgery. After surgery I now feel I don't need this strong pain med any longer and my other pain can be handled by a weaker pain med like percocet.
