Mobic and swelling

Common Questions and Answers about Mobic and swelling

mobic

I was on Mobic for a year or so and never had any issues besides stomach pain (which any NSAID's can cause) I get stomach pain with any NSAID's. Mobic wasn't really that affective for me but my insurance made me try practically every NSAID on the market before they would approve Celebrex. They denied Celebrex and even recommended a PPI (ulcer med) to take with the NSAID's because they didn't want to pay for Celebrex. After they denied me 4 or 5 times, they finally approved it.
I noticed this years ago when I would masterbate too much. Before I would just stop for a while and the swelling would go down. This time since the swelling was minimal I ignored it and kept masturbating for a week or so. All of a sudden one morning the swelling was huge! During erections my penis was extremely hard I even got stretch marks on the right side of the shaft.
i am using Mobic on and off for pain. But due to swelling i am not able to make a fist. i have pain on the edges of the palm.
One is that the hardware used has got infected and this causes flare of symptoms on and off. The other possibility is an allergic reaction to the hardware. Since, it has been three years, you can ask your ortho regarding bone union and strength. If it is good, the hardware can be removed. Please discuss with your doctor when the insurance comes through. Meanwhile apply ice during flare-ups and take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory such as Tylenol, Aleve or Mobic. Take care!
Also they have compression stocking kinda like a thigh high stocking but it will put compression on both your ankle and knee and reduce the swelling.
A month ago I went to another Orthopedist who prescribed 10 Mobic pills, one per day. He said he wouldn't prescribe them but the swelling shouldn't last for this long, so he did. They didn't seem to change anything. I visited again, he checked my knee again, made me do a couple of squats and seemed perplexed. He prescribed an MRI but he said that he only did that because he can't find anything else. He told me that it's "chronic tendinitis".
About 2 years ago I had a total knee replacement that I had ALOT of problems with, in fact the first dr did so many thing wrong I had to have the same knee redone approx 90 days latter. As a result I have to take mobic and nuriton (not sure of spelling) twice daily. I have not had any problems with the swelling until about 3 weeks ago. My feet would start to swell in the late afternoon but by the next morning they were fine.
Also, has anyone had any experiences with other NSAID pain medications that are any better than Mobic? Thanks and have a great day!
i've had orthopedic surgery on my left knee and had the plica removed but i still have a lot of pain in BOTH knees. I've had both x-rays and mri's taken of my knees and there appears to be nothing wrong with them but they constantly seem to be swelling when i walk for more than 5min straight. i'm currently taking mobic for my knee pain.
Please rest the ankle and leg, apply ice on ankle and shin, take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory such as Aleve or Mobic, do not bear weight on foot, and keep the leg raised on a stool or sit on the bed with leg popped on 2 pillows. Meanwhile set up an appointment with your doctor. You will probably need X-ray or MRI. Take care! SWELLING IS ACCOMPANIED BY PAIN MAINLY WHEN THE SWELLING GOES DOWN. REDNESS AND SWELLING OCCUR ON THE UNDERSIDE OF MY FOREARM STARTING AT THE WRIST AND GOINIG UP, CAUSING PAIN IN THE TENDONS AND MUSCLES. I WAS TOLD IT IS PROBABLY RA AND WAS GIVEN ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DRUGS SUCH AS DICLOFENAC, MOBIC, METHRTREXATE ETC WHICH DO NOT BRING DOWN THE SWELLING. I ALSO SUFFER FROM TYPE 2 DIABETES AND VITILIGO. WHAT EXACTLY IS THIS DISEASE?
Nothing caused it, I just woke up in the morning, feel a little hurt around my ankle, then every time I walk or stand up long, my feet hurt a lot, they are getting worse, stiff and swelling. I went to the chiropractor, took the X-ray but there is nothing wrong. I also went to an acupuncturist, but nothing change.
I am 50 now and tested positive for the HLA B27 gene as well. I was a marathon runner and triathlete and woke up one day and could not move a bone in my body. I had my knees drained of synovial fluid 3 times, had my feet in casts to control the swelling. The pain and stifness was in every joint in my body. Two weeks prior to this I had a UTI. That infection coupled with the HLA gene is what brough on my reactive arthrits.

I went to a rheumatologist because I had swelling in my left elbow and right knee and thought it could be arthritis. They took a blood test and the only thing that was positive was my ANA. The Doctor performing the ultra sound said I had a mild inflammatory arthritis and an autoimmune disease. I really want to know what I might have because it will be June before I can get back in to see the doctor. If anybody has an idea, please help. Also, will this affect my fertility in any way?
I was prescribed Topamax along with an appetite suppressant (Adipex) for weight loss a bit over a year ago and stopped taking them after two and a half months. I did not lose all of the weight I had wanted to, but most of it. I had gained 55 pounds while on Paxil over the course of two and a half years. By taking a combination of the two medicines, I lost 22 pounds the first month, 10 pounds the second month, and 8 pounds the first half of the third month.

My doctor says this will allow your body to absorb the extra fluid naturally. And it feels good. As far as meds i found mobic was easier on tummy. Have you tried that?
) Also, I have been on muscle relaxers (zanaflex and flexeril), anti-inflammitory drugs (anaprox and mobic, and pain meds (ultram and ultram ER), and plaquenil, all which have not helped at all; some have even made me feel worse (ie-plaquenil). I also take metformin ER for PCOS that has been diagnosed since I was 15 years old.
, MAKE MY HEARTBEAT AND BP GO CRAZY. I CAN TAKE IBUPROFEN, MOTRIN...NURSE TOLD ME TO TRY THE MOBIC, AND IF I HAVE ANY PROBLEMS, TO LET THEM KNOW. I REALLY DON'T WANT TO TAKE A CHANCE ON IT RAISING MY BLOOD PRESSURE AND HEART RATE; BESIDES, I DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR A MED I MAY NOT BE ABLE TO TAKE (AND SHE SAID THEY DON'T HAVE ANY SAMPLES). SO I'VE PRETTY MUCH DECIDED NOT TO TRY IT; BUT, IF ANYONE HAS ANY IDEAS, MAYBE SOME NATURAL OR HOME REMEDIES, OR EXERCISES I MIGHT TRY, I'D APPRECIATE IT...

Meloxicam (Mobic) is most commonly used for reducing pain, inflammation and joint swelling associated with different forms of arthritis. It's in the family of NSAID's medications. As far as I know it's not a muscle relaxer. I hope this has been of some help to you...........
I am currently on methyl/Prednisone which I have been on since January 2010 and Mobic. They can't find the reason for my knees swelling which showed up overnight, they are constantly swollen now and worse in the mornings. The lymph glands were the same way, just showed up overnight and have stayed swollen. I have had the mylar rash and my cheeks are now stained from it.
If it is just a strain on the ligaments then rest, elevating the leg, not bearing weight on it, applying ice and Volini, and taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like Mobic and Aleve can help reduce the pain and swelling in about 3-4 weeks. You can apply pressure bandage during the day to support the joint. If the symptoms persist then you will need to undergo X-rays and maybe MRI to look into the cause. Please discuss with your doctor. Take care!
I have tried injections but that did not seem to help. I currently take Mobic, Robaxin and Neurontin daily. I have just started trying to use a TENS unit. I also have headaches, facial pain & swelling, ear pain jaw popping & clicking with some locking. Does anybody have any suggestions?
You will need X-rays of the lower spine, pelvis and hip to see if you have a bony injury. The swelling could be a contusion (which will respond to the above treatment) or it could be a hematoma (localized collection of blood which may get re-absorbed or may need drainage). Please discuss with your doctor. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
I recently visited my FP for upper back pain that happened when I inflated my chest for any reason, like the sniffles, or cough, which was the worst, and numbess/tingling in arms and hands. He dx'd me with costochondritis and/or pleurisy. For which, he rx'd mobic, and ultracet.and sleeping with arm splints each night for the next two weeks. ultracet ran out 4 days later and never really made the pn go away, but took edge off, so I took it.
I was concerned about swelling which you are noticing and also the pitting character. Usually pitting oedema suggests either it is due to venous obstruction, e.g. deep vein thrombosis or congestive heart failure or due to varicose veins. The nerve to supply to great toe and ball of foot is through L4-S1, which originates from lower back. Any pathology involving your lower back can cause such pathology. Have you been evaluated for Diabetes? Keep me informed. Bye.
